I am really liking the idea of giving lottery tickets or scratch cards to our daytime guests, as it is the only thing I can think of that they will really appreciate and I think it would be a real talking point.

Really stupid question, but how are other brides who are doing this planning on getting them? I can't see our local newsagents being too chuffed if I go in and ask for fifty individual lottery tickets? I suppose I'll have to do them in batches at different stores, unless anyone can think of an easier idea.

Any advice would be gratefully received!

Buy a few at a a time from different shops so your guests have more chance of winning. If you buy a whole roll from one shop there won't be as many winners on it :)

Yes, I think I am going for scratchcards as I will be able to get them further in advance...
And they look stunning, what a lovely way to display them!

Knowing my luck, somebody will win twenty grand and take all the attention of the day lol

this is a really cool idea but like Tsykjin I would want the ticket back if they won! Haha imagine if someone won the jackpot and you had bought it- gutted!! xx

Try not to purchase too far in advance though as if they do win it's a hassle to collect the winnings if the specific cards aren't sold in store anymore. You have to write to the lovely lottery people and blah blah.

I wouldn't be able to do that. I'd be gutted if it was someone i wasn't all that close to, like a plus one or something won a million but my family got sweet FA lol.

I am the manager of a shop that sells lottery/scratchcards, I won't mind doing 50 single lucky dips. I often get customers asking for 20 single ones lol... It more bothers the queue of customers who are waiting to get served haha. You might be best getting so many lottery at different shops around were you live.

Also if you are buying scratchcards go to your local post office for them. I'm always getting told that people win more money and more often from there. Not sure of they do send all the big winning cards there.... But I never have any here lol.

Also, if your having lottery tickets and your weddings on a saturday or wednesday you could get the band to read out the results so that the daytime guests can check their ticket....and then nick the winning ticket! Joke

We're giving lottery tickets too (in a little card chest shaped favour box) and we're just going to ask for 50 lucky dips. We'll probably go to a supermarket in the mid-morning on a week day to avoid it beng busy.
