Hi ladies, hope you are all having a lovely Sunday! Just want to ask if any of you are providing your own food for your reception? We are doing our own and having to prepare some of it the morning of the wedding and rallying it to our venue half an hour away from our house. That in itself is no big problem as we have our family and close friends helping but last night I couldn't sleep thinking about having room to put out all the food for 60 guests as we have nowhere to put more food if we need to replenish it. I don't want to have my family nipping back to home to get more stuff. I guess it is worse because we haven't been to see the venue in the flesh yet and also haven't had an e-mail that I was supposed to get from the venue giving me all the details. I don't know if they have a kitchen we can use or anything. Getting quite stressed out about it, as it is the venue I want, but it could be a disaster if we haven't room to put out all the food for everyone. Also worrying about running out of food generally, some guests might eat loads and others might not, but should I order more than I think they can eat or what I think is a decent amount. I would be so embarassed if we ran out making us look cheap! Aaaaargh! I have 17 months to go yet, god knows what I will be like a few months before, probably won't sleep at all! Sorry for the long rant, but my h2b left for work at 6 this morning and have no one to rant to about it! :) x

these are things that will work themselves out so I would not worry about it but here is an idea if you have not got enough storiage then use cooler boxes (you can even buy portable fridges that run of calar gas) we do it all the time when we have a cafe outdoors. if the food is cooked and needs to be kept cool a cooler box will do the job for a few hours. and you can beg and borrow off you 60 guests so you wont even have to worry about extra cost.

First of all you have lots of time to organise everything and sort out all the little details so don't let it panic you. Take one step at a time and make a list of everything that needs to be done. Then take the first thing on the list and do it. (forget the rest in the mean time) Once you have sorted that move onto the next thing that needs to be done. If you try and take everything on in one go you will send yourself round the twist. One thing at a time and you will have soon worked through the list, everything will be done and you will be enjoying your day :)

Thanks, I think that is the problem, I am trying to get everything organised at the same time, looking at flowers, cakes, venue dressing all at the same time, have 5 tabs open on my computer every day researching, giving myself a headache and such an overload of information that I guess it's not surprising that I go to bed with my brain buzzing. And that is a good idea about the cooler boxes, would be ideal for all the yummy cakes we are having! And the fact that even if there isn't a lot of storage or a kitchen there, we can put the cooler boxes under the table cloth of the buffet table, no one would see them, so thank you! :D
