I don't think I could ever want to spend 1-2 grand on a photographer so I'm looking for someone for the big day without having to apply for a loan :) Help please! :-)

No such thing as a cheap wedding photographer in my opinion unless you ask relatives to do it for you!
But then that depends what your idea of cheap is?
Most professional photographers will charge anything between £350 and £1500 again depending on where you are and what you want included in the package!
This was one of our top 5 so the photographer we have gone for is £1250 but thats all day, two photographers (covering bridal prep AND groom prep) all way through to the end of the night where we have a sparkler send off, everything on a USB stick as well as an album and 2 parent albums! We also got her to do a photo booth during the reception so for what we are getting I think it's worth every penny!
Some will travel for travel costs so don't dismiss any because they are not in your area (same with ALL suppliers, my videographer is in Cumbria and I'm in Peterborough for example).
Def do the qoute me thingy on here, worth it to get the comparisson's and doesnt cost you a penny! and you gain points for doing it hehehe

BE CAREFUL! From speaking to people with experience, you get what you pay for! If you cut costs on the photographer, make sure you are happy with their work and what you are getting first. Why pay hundreds of pounds for someone that only takes photos you could take yourself? We're paying £1000 for ours but that includes a disc with ALL the photos from the day, plus editing. He's a really good photographer and does really 'different' photography. My h2b is into his photography and made sure our photographer takes images he couldnt really do himself! That was a big thing for us! xx

My photographer is costing £500, from this site actually! :-) and he's including a disk of all the photos he takes of the day (and they won't be limited in size like some are so I will be able to print them off as many as I want), and a page on his website where my guests can log in and see the pics so they can ask me for any, and a photo album bound (those really nice books where the pictures are the pages). It's such an awesome package - just what we were looking for! Have you tried the quote me thing on here - I got quite a few for under £500 when I did it. This was my fav though.

I received 8 quotes so far, they are ok :-) although I said I'm on a budget some of them still offers £1500..... :-( I know photos are important, they will be memories, etc but I strongly feel that a £1000 is a rip off... oh well we are all different and we have different priorities :-)

My photographer is £500 and she is amazing. This includes my printed album, digital copies and we have her all day. All my friends have hired her for some event or other over the past couple of years and the results are in my opinion just as brilliant as a £2000 photographer in fact I've seen a number of professional wedding photos where I thought the posing was just wrong or the bridal party just don't seem at ease etc. Yes you do get what you pay for in a lot of cases but make sure you don't pay through the nose for it!

    Shop around.

That's the price I find acceptable :-) around 4-5 hundred :-) I don't want any fancy slideshow with some cheesy music or some posh Italian leather album.... LOL

Oh I forgot to say my quote includes a large framed photo of our choice. Can't remember the exact dimensions off hand but its pretty big and I will give it to my parents or his dad I think as a surprise when its done so I will likely choose a nice portrait with them and me and him :-)

Anna all those added extras aren't worth bothering about these days because when you get your digital copies you can in the future upload them into photography or printing sites yourself and create a beautiful picture or another album or basically anything you want so fancy extras can be done at a later stage and most likely at a fraction of the cost.

Ours is £825 but as others have said you are paying for your memories, I did look at other cheaper people (about 400) but their work just wasn't as good. x
