I'm looking to have a simple day, the ceremony and then just a hog roast, looking for a barn that isn't going to charge through the roof. My fiancee and myself don't make a huge amount of money and are paying for it ourselves. Does anyone know of any barns we can hire for a reception in somerset?!

I can't offer too much help with where as im in Norfolk, but I know of people who have approached farmers to use their barns for wedding receptions. Do you or your friends know any local farmers who you could ask? The guy who I know had his reception in a barn of a farmer their family knows and it wasn't expensive to hire, but it did cost a bit to get kitted out fit for a reception....my reception is at a done-up barn so is more expensive. Do consider that you may have to hire an 'inside' cover thing (sorry can't remember the name of them', maybe heating, lights and toilets. Hope you can find somewhere!!

I hsve the same problems Simone, we want a barn but they are v expensive. And a hog roast too. One of friends in surreyfound a farmers barn which isnt too expensive but you'd still have to sort the inside out
