Not for me. I know it sounds harsh but I refuse to get into debt for it. I have the money in my account and its not going anywhere lol

I don't think weddings are worth getting into debt for. However, if it was just the last bit, and you would have the money a few weeks later, maybe.

H2b wants to get a credit card but only as a LAST resort to help pay for the last of the venue and photographer, as these are the two biggest buys for us. Everything else we should be fine with.

I think if it got close to the date and there was just that little bit to pay off, but you weren't getting paid until the week after it was due, then maybe an overdraft or credit card would be the answer, but only for a tiny bit and only temporarily if there was no other way, But we're saving until we have enough for everything we want, so unless something goes drastically wrong then we wont be needing to do that. x

Have a contingency budget as well. Put aside money from the wedding budget to cover things like the washing machine blowing up or the car breaking down.

i think we will be as we found out a mth ago that h2b is being made redundant next yr, which we didnt plan for, we could cut costs more but we do want certain things at our wedding, its about personal choice and means, as we originally said we didnt want to start married life in debt or get into debt for the sake of one day but we changed our minds that if its needed then we only plan on doing it this once so why not as long as we know we can afford to pay it back !

Kev doesn't believe me about inflation for some reason, So i've started putting more away seperate from the wedding fund (he doesn't know, cause he thinks if you have spare money it should be spent now now now!! lol... So I have a little kitty saved seperate for emergancies when we get our own place, food if we need some before payday.. And extra expenses to do with the wedding if needs be :) x

I was thinking about it, and it was certainly something I would have done if we'd have needed to. But we're lucky enough to have inherited some money recently, so it'll now be covered by that.

I'm going to get a credit card though, and pay everything on it, but be paying off the balance every month. Then you get the protection if anything were to happen, suppliers go bump etc.

Defo not for us either....do not want to get into debt for one day. We are lucky that both sets of parents are helping big time plus we made it 2 years away to prevent going into any debt x

We have our credit card sitting around somewhere as an absolute last resort backup, we've never used it before so it'd be of some use if we had some last minute costs that came up, but I really don't see that using it would be sensible. We are having a wedding we can afford. It's the marriage that matters to us, not the wedding, and ours will be amazing despite the fact that we're "only" spending about £3k.

We are not planning on using our credit card, but if something unexpected but essential came up we would use it I am sure. I am careful with my money, but then I do think...what the hell, money is to be spent and life is way too short x x x

Mike would never take out a loan - when we moved in I had to chop my credit cards up - cause he doesnt agree with getting into debt - apart from the mortgage :-) x

Exactly Emsy.. That's why ours is so far away, Because we can't afford exactly what we want until then (well we could, BUT I don't want to completely go without most things as I can't get out much, so even just being pushed up to the local pub for half hour is just such a nice relief, and we couldn't afford even that if we had it sooner) x

Not for us - we have decided that we don't want to take a loan or spend too much of our savings. We bought a Victorian house last year and problems come up so often we need to be careful to keep some by!! x
