I'd go for Eton Mess, it's less heavy and sweet and will appeal to both young and old - you have wedding cake as week so don't want too heavy a desert to compete with it :-)

I'm having Eton Mess :) so obviously I'm a bit biased! Becky is right, after a 3 course meal you dont want something heavy to finish it off especially if you want people to want to dance and not want to go and have a lie down - plus as mentioned you'll be having cake too right?

Speaking of cake - Gr**pon has an offer on today for wedding cakes in the liverpool area...check it out if you haven't already got one!

Hmmmm i am so torn. I want Eton Mess. But we asked parents who said stp! It's a very light sponge to be fair so i'm not too worried about it being heavy. I think Eton Mess would be more summery, but h2b won't eat it, my dad and fil wouldn't eat it etc etc. Maybe it's not as safe?!

    Ugh! Decisions!

We really couldn't decide on the dessert so we had a talk with the chefs, and now our venue is offering people a choice of eton mess (my choice) and strawberry victoria sponge with fresh cream (h2b) - both are quite easy choices to prepare - as is stp, so maybe you could come to an arrangement with your venue and suggest they offer the guests a choice? If they're happy to do so might be fore the best? Either that - or pick out of a hat! :)

    Good idea actually, may ask.

I'm getting both options designed and printed as stationery needs to go to print next week and will decide after that! It's just a dessert but the stress!

How funny - that is our menu too - with Eton Mess ha ha - must be a popular choice this year...

WE went for our menu tasting on Wednesday and it was fantastic - the food is fabulous and we were so stuffed after it.

    WE have chosen,

    STARTER - Country veg soup
MAIN - Chicken (mushroom risotto for V)
    DESSERT - Eton Mess

Sounds safe but the food was to die for - although I will not be eating that much on the wedding day - I'll burst out of my dress if Wednesday was anything to go by.

Plus we had a big long chat with the executive chef who gave us different ideas to what we had picked for our tasting and resulted in the above choices being made.

My cousin in law sent us through some sample cupcakes for us today as she is making our cupcake wedidng cake and they are simply delicious...at this rate I am never going to lose weight lol. Missed WW as well tonight due to parents evening and missed last week as I was working late doh!

Our cupcakes are fabulous too - she has done a brilliant job and is so clever!

We also have a meeting with our venue on Thursday to discuss finer details - can't wait!

Cool - we're meeting with my cousin this Saturday for a tasting as she's making cupcakes for our favours! Also meeting the florist this weekend to finally tell her the colour scheme has changed slightly (!) and try to finalise flower/colour choices...

Final meeting with Palm House 28th April, same day as my final dress fitting for measuring up and alterations, final meeting with caterers 21st May - then there's only 2 weeks till the wedding!!

26th May we've the final suit fittings and church rehearsal, I have one last facial on the 27th, nails and massage on the 1st, then the wedding weekend begins on the 2nd with the Chinese banquet the night before - can't believe how quickly this is all happening - somewhere in between all the above we need to make 14 sweet trees too! argh!

    Oooh cupcakes sound delicious!

OMG bridalmiss - I can't believe you're down to 1 month on your ticker! That has come around so quickly...You'll be able to get things sorted with the sweet trees, they do take ages (I made 4 for school and it took me around 3 hours) plus my fingers were absolutely killing and wrecked with sticking the cocktail sticks in. That wasn't ideal. Just be careful you don't damage your fingers.

I know the ticker thing is scary, I think it only counts whole calendar months as the wedding is 8 weeks this Sunday - 8 weeks!!

I'm hoping our fingers aren't knackered as we'll have to have pretty hands for the wedding ring shots! I have 2 friends who've offered to help with the trees, all depends if I can leave them to get on with it or if my inner control freak will want to do it all myself - we shall see!

Overall flower colour scheme is still brights, I just have no idea what she's going to come up with! I know in my head what I think it looks like, but she's going to talk to me more about what's in season etc to make it real :-)

On another note, remember I said my Mum was going to make Alcatraz so that people would recognise the Golden Gate bridge? Well, she's made it - I am now going to have a prison island on my wedding cake!! Will try to take a better picture this weekend - I was laughing so much when I took this first one last week!

I've been watching Alcatraz the tv show over the last week on catch up and it always makes me chuckle thinking of your cake. It's going to be so unique I can't wait to see it. Bless your mum, she must be so busy doing all the bits!

I'm having a slow week. Have the last 1/3 of my essay to do this weekend and then i'm free til Oct to really enjoy the planning instead of guiltily doing it between sections!

Haha she's started on dolls this week, spoke to her last night and apparently she is having problems with one of Andy's arms, it keeps falling off! She showed me this humungous frog at the weekend (!!) it's about 3.5 inches wide, and how she even managed to get hold of some edible varnish that she's painted on to make it look wet!! Where that will go I have no idea - I'm guessing maybe near the light up water fountain??

Kenya, right on the coast for two weeks - going to be fab. I need to do some serious dieting now too!

I bought my wedding shoes today on a bit of a whim! I traipsed through town last week looking everywhere for some and nothing took my fancy - wanted something not too high, not too low, not too sparkly but not too plain, something comfortable I could wear all day but still something out of the ordinary... just found that pair - pic in my album, definitely the most 'bridey' shoes I have seen!

Ooh honeypie - I love them.

We've hit 99 days today, I can't believe it! I'm getting really excited now. Mum and I are going for a little MOB dress shop on Saturday to proper MOB shops, she's moaning because although she picked a dress and bolero up on Saturday in Kendel that she loves (I am yet to see it) she won't wear it as "it was only £50!" What is she like. So I'll go on Saturday morning to see the outfit then we can compare it to the official MOB dresses in Kay Nelson and then up to Formby/Southport probably.

Oooh yeh some nice stuff in classy rags, I drive past daily! Prices are steep though!

Might pop up to CR tomorrow if no joy with KN. My mum couldn't find anything she felt good in at Debs which was a shame as there was so many lovely dresses. She's limiting herself too as she wants blue or silver to match the colour scheme even though I've said she doesn't need to. MOB's ey? Who'd have em?

Yeah having the whole day there. It's a bit different which I liked. I knew I wanted to be in the city centre so that helped me narrow down my search a bit. We got a package deal for £4000 for 60 day and 90 evening and have added 20 day and 40 evening paying extra per head which is about £1000. I booked the venue 2 weeks after getting engaged and in that time I viewed 7 hotels! Keen!

You can get the whole list of approved venues for holding a civil ceremony from the registry office website which is a good place to start. Though if you're marrying in a church then you can have your reception anywhere! xx

I don't mind as most of my famalam are in Runcorn. i just want it to be nice and without sounding snobby not somewhere like a local pub function room which would be the only option in Runcorn haha! xx

Clare your stationery looks amazing, I love love love the table numbers with the number of dots on the button! Only thing I've noticed though is your postbox sign has a spelling mistake on it, it's 'generosity' not 'genorosity' - sorry!! But at least you have plenty of time to correct it :-)

Hayley we're having our reception at the Palm House, gorgeous venue but it's times like these when we're nearing the wedding and I wish we'd gone down the all in one hotel package route as co-ordinating final meetings with people like the reception, caterers, band, florist etc is a bit of a handful!

Had the hen do on the weekend, was really good fun with a tipsy tea party, meal out and a sophisticated night out at the theatre in York - sadly it was a bit of a downer as I'd invited the wife of someone I used to work with, but on her own she constantly yabbered on about herself, her dogs, her husband, you name it - constantly interrupting after every question in my Mr and Mrs quiz! She even brought up her friend (who none of us knew) having had her husband murdered recently, the funeral arrangements, ensuing grief, and also how her sister (who none of us knew) and her survival against cancer last year - really wanted to tell her to shut up so we could talk more about me but by then I'd had the energy completely sapped out of me - needless to say we started the seating plan last night and her and her husband are sat with a load of retired ex colleagues at the back of the room, and away from the other girls from the hen weekend - it'd be too cruel to sit them together more than once!!

oh dear - sounds like she doesn't get out much, and just felt like she had to overload to you girls - TMI but it's still quite sad!

Hayley I'm having two venues - a daytime reception in Ness Gardens on the Wirral for family and best friends, and then an evening do in 62 Castle Street in the city centre - both are lovely and completely different. I spent ages going to see lots of different places and my original evening venue actually closed down in January so I had to do a lot of panic viewing - but very pleased with my choices now :) Like bridalmiss said it's a lot of working having to co-ordinate things yourself - but still fun!

Clare I really like the lovespoons!!

Forgot one more thing too, this woman said to me at least 4 times during the day 'oh and one thing about shopping for clothes, this I think YOU'LL be aware of Becky, is that when we ladies try to buy clothes in our dress size the overall body proportions go up like leg length etc, it's so hard to find decent well fitting size 18s isn't it' - cheeky cow!! She was giving me the knowing wink and everything like we shared the same issue - I've never been that size in my life, and am currently very comfortably between a 14-16! ooh my blood boileth over....
