Our menu tasting was fab smarties you should definitely go for yours soon! Everything was free - we got given as much food and drink as we wanted and then moved into the bar where they gave us all sorts of cocktails to try, it was a good night!!
My dress has arrived from America :D absolutely stunning - but it's two sizes too big! An error their end obviously but it will cost a fortune to ship it back - can anyone reccommend anywhere I can get it altered? I've rang a few places from yell but no one seems to be answering and don't really want a cowboy firm to get hold of my precious dress!! x

I've got my first dress fitting this Sat at the Wedding House, from memory I think the seamstress' number is in the changing room, will try to remember to make a note for you and let you know :-)
CommentAuthorSijen
Oh Honeypie, that's a shame. I don't really know anyone sorry, but I'll keep my ears and eyes peeled for you.
I can't wait for our menu tasting.

I was given two ladies' contacts when I bought my dress, their business cards are with my dress at mil's will get them this week when I next go round for you Honeypie.
Any Liverpool ladies who haven't yet bought their dream dress - there's a good voucher on groupon today - £50 for a £200 voucher for a bridal shop in Liverpool (Blushing Bride - Orrel Lane). Just thought I'd share! :)
CommentAuthorbridalmiss
Argh I had my dress fitting on Saturday but was so excited I forgot to check if the seamstress' number was on the price list! I'm meeting her at my final fitting though 28th April so will get her number then :-) Prices seemed reasonable too, from £25 to alter a bodice, from 55 to shorten a skirt etc :-)
CommentAuthorKate4
Ooh I forgot too. Will get it on Weds, though I don't know prices.
How was the fitting Becky?
CommentAuthorbridalmiss
It Zipped Up!!!!
Was so chuffed, here's a pic! Could do with a little more off my shoulders as it felt a touch tight, but the waist was fine and I even need 0.5 inch off my bust both sides - final fitting end April when I meet the seamstress so good times! Was soo relieved :-)

Thanks ladies! And yes, it has grown loads since last year, even had it cut before Christmas too! Having the hair and make up trial in 2 weeks so thought I should leave my hair to grow so I can have options :-)
CommentAuthorKate4
I'm doing the same, had it cut before xmas and not since. And i'm a 8 week regular, it's killing me but i'm giving it a bit longer in between trims this year.
Well done on the fitting by the way, I know you've worked hard so must have been a huge relief to know it paid off!
I have fallen off the wagon big time. No zumba, no WW and takeaways galore this last few weeks :-( It's to counteract my MSc stress but soon as that's over for the year (April) i've got to get right on it again!

I've stocked up on Slimfast milkshakes...had my first one today and it was foul....I am a rubbish dieter!
Becky your dress is stunning :) x

Oooh i loved Slim Fast. The banana ones were the best! I lost 9lb in 6 weeks on it first time round but then just couldn't get into it second time. I had lost a stone before xmas on ww (for trying on dresses) and had kept it off, until about 3 weeks ago, and now it's piling back on! I ideally want to lose the weight i've put back on and then some for when I go to get my dress altered in about May x
CommentAuthorhoneypie
there's motivation for me then...I will power through! x
CommentAuthorKate4
They do snacks too. Quite nice choc bars and cheddar-style snacks. Though I bought ww snacks as they're cheaper and more of a range as figured they've prob got same calories value. x

I've been doing SW, it's good in that there's less counting - basically, have 1/3 of your plate with veg, cut all visible fat off meat, no skin on poultry, and snack on lean meat or lots of fruit or fat free yoghurts. You can have unlimited pasta, rice and potatoes too, and cook with spray oil rather than liquid oil - I shared a bottle of rose with the H2B last Friday as it was his birthday and had a 3 course meal in a restaurant (with a chocolate fondant brownie!!) and so far this week I've lost 1 lb - official weigh in is this Wed!
Tbh though I've only lost 5 lbs since last May when I started but I've been exercising too and the inches have come off, that's why the dress finally fits! So measure yourself too to keep yourself going - if I'd just focussed on the scales I'd have well lost hope by now!!
CommentAuthorLinzie Liverpool.
im a liverpool bride. im from kirkby. brideworld in walton are brilliant for wedding dresses and bridesmaid. they have a huge collection.
CommentAuthorKate4
Not thought to measure myself actually. Will do that.
Have started walking into and from work this week. Means I can do 4 miles a day without having to lose my evenings while i've got studying to do! Does however mean I go past a sweet shop....!
CommentAuthorKate4
Oooh but I do walk past Bride with the lovely dresses in the window! I try not to look but yesterday I saw one so like mine it got me excited again!
CommentAuthorKate4
Becky just seen in another thread you bought your bm dress today? What colour did you decide on? Raspberry?
CommentAuthorbridalmiss
Haha the closest we could get, it's called dark pink on the website but I think it looks nice!
BM dress.jpg
Decided to just order it for her then post it across as then I know she's got something! She hasn't even booked her flights yet and the wedding is 12 weeks away...
CommentAuthorKate4
Ah yeah best to do it yourself then! It's lovely, gorgeous colour!
CommentAuthornatalie2614
Ooo what a lovely colour. And the style is lovely, something that can be worn again :) xx

Change of plan ladies, got a phone call from her (mobile to mobile, bet that'll cost me!) on Saturday morning, she was in the Malaysian Debenhams shop and she'd found another dress which she liked - it's a bit smarter than I'd have chosen but at least she has a dress! Plus it was on sale too so was only £48 after the conversion rate, so now I'm going to send back the one I bought for her as a back up!

P.S. I've already hinted that Spanx would look good under that dress and she agrees - wasn't too harsh of me to say tho eh? oops!
CommentAuthornatalie2614
thats not far off the colour that you picked too, I do like your one better I have to say, but I quite like the detail on her choice too. And no its not too harsh to mention spanx, and to be honest shes probably one step ahead of you!

Ah I like that too and she looks happy with it so that's good :-) No not too harsh mentioning spanx, Natalie's right she'd probably thought it too.

I've got loads done this weekend! Picked, ordered and paid for all of the usher's suits, and chose a beautiful wedding ring! Also ordered all of the bm dresses...all pics in my album if you want to take a look. I found out my next door neighbour is a seamstress! She is altering a dress similar to mine and the moment so I'll keep note of the progress and see if it goes nicely. Also ordered some jewellery and our wedding favours! Determined to get everything sorted before the end of March because I keep having a recurring dream that I'm getting married tomorrow and nothing has been sorted...cant take much more of walking down the aisle in my bare feet as I've forgotten to buy shoes! :) x

Had my pre-wedding photoshoot on Sunday around Chinatown, link is on my wall if you want to see - so happy with the pics and I am just a little bit more in love with Liverpool now they're in my pics - can you believe they were taken around Chinatown and Seel St/Concert Square and he's made it look really classy! Felt bad making him walk around dodgy streets with his cameras etc but not so much now I've seen the photos have paid off :-)
Haha Clare that makes it sound like you're actually buying flowergirls in for the day :-)

Ah Becky those pics are fabulous. Every time I'm in town lately, I spot another place I forgot was there and fall in love with it.
Honeypie - you have been busy! Sounds like you're on track!

Sorry lilmisschuckles - It's £50 (which you have to pay when booking) but it is redeemable against purchases on the day. I had vouchers for my birthday so thought I'd go for it. I only use Clinique makeup but don't find it long-lasting when I have it on ALL day (i.e. at weddings etc) and I've tried all types of stuff and used it for over 10 years so thought I would treat myself and go with MAC for the wedding.

So, I had a productive weekend, went to 4 bridal shops and tried on 20+ dresses and Im now torn between two! Both Romantica dresses - Catherine and Shania (would be threaded with Navy blue flowers to match my theme most stock photos are either silver or red!)
I went to Bridal Path and cant fault the ladies in there, they were very helpful and told me what style to stay away from - one shoulder doesnt suit me and exaggerates my curves. Went to Cloud 9 where I fell in love with Catherine dress and honestly think this could be the one. Ladies again were lovely. Went then onto Corniche in Litherland, wouldnt rate the dresses or the staff, quite intimidated by them when I was trying them on. I felt like I was being forced into a dress that I didnt like. Then went onto Captivating Brides in Crosby, and the lady is lovely, she had both dresses in stock and Im now torn!
Did get my shoes though after realising that I wont be able to wear flats with either dress (it will look stupid!) so Ive bought some nice ones from Next.

Productive weekend over all - just decisions decision regarding the dress!

sounds like you've been a busy bee natalie! I've just had a nosey at your dresses and they're both gorgeous so it's a hard decision ahead! If it helps I think the Shania is probably more unique and sounds like it would be lovely threaded in navy...x (Nice shoes too!)

Omg how funny is this, we're getting married Jubilee weekend and we were joking a couple of months ago about having some mock up tat for the Royal family but to do with our wedding, and H2B has been secretly working on this with one of his designer mates, and has done a mock up of the Charles/Diana wedding plate so we can try to get it printed on coasters - showed me last night! He's even replaced the lion and unicorn from the crest with the Chinese dragon and phoenix, I think they look ace! Hopefully we can get them printed for a reasonable price, then we're not even going to tell the family etc and they can have a surprise on the day! :-)

Just got home! Was fab. First time I've ever been for a meal and not had a bill!
I need help though. Torn on the dessert! We had the sticky toffee pudding and eton mess. Both were gorgeous but can't decide which to pick. Thoughts? Starter is soup, chicken main. Sept wedding. Wedding coordinator said stp is safer and really popular, but eton mess is lighter and summery but less safe.
