Nope I havent booked anyone for my makeup. I was going to contact the woman Bridalmiss recommended but gone back to doing my own again. I do have a number of a woman who charges £25 which includes strip eyelashes. She trained at Peaches & Cream in town and now does mobile. Uses Mac/Dior makeup too but I got £65 of Mac vouchers for Christmas and £30 for debenhams for my birthday so I'll be treating myself to some decent stuff for the wedding

Sorry to jump in on this post I'm having my hen night in Liverpool in June and was wondering where's good to go? Also will my moulin rouge theme be appropriate lol x
sian - moulin rouge theme will definitely be appropriate! what type of music/atmosphere do you want? x
CommentAuthorSian''OCD''Holkham
I've got quite a big group going 16 I think so a wide range of music types lol I personally like chart stuff, 80's, the odd bit of indie rnb, fancy maybe a karoke bar, some cheap bars to get us going then onto a decent club or 3 lol x
hey ladies sorry to geg into the thread. i had my hen night in a greek restraunte by bold street called christakis had a really fab time. had me getting up to belly dance in front of everyone then went clubbing after that. had my wedding reception at liverpool football club. cant believe that was nearly 7 months ago. hope everyone enjoys their weddings as much as i enjoyed mine x
Sian you would probably be better staying around Mathew Street or Concert Square which is where all the hen parties go as it's cheesy but plenty of bars to choose from.
Ha - I honestly can't stand either of those places but that's coz I battered it there when I was younger. It's just full of kids now and feels like you're on holiday lol. Made me feel old when 90's bars took over the 80's bars lol. But as a group looking for that then it's fine and you'll enjoy yourself.
On Mathew Street you've got Flares (70s) Tube (80s) and loads of 90s bars. Plus you've got the Cavern, Rubber Sole, Flannigans (Irish bar / live music) and loads more to choose from. You will love it really.

hey girls just came back on here for the first time in months and seen this thread.. i'm also having my henny in Liverpool at the end of march, i'm 44 so thought 70's theme suited all and have decided on going to Flares on the saturday night, all ages from 18 to my mum 64 lol will it suit all? also booked into China Palace buffet on the friday night.. any thoughts on either place is appreciated xx
CommentAuthorSian''OCD''Holkham
Mine is the weekend before 23rd june, as long as a lot of hens and stags go there i'm sure it will be fine lol, when's your wedding? Only goiung for the one night to so hopefully will be a night to remember x
Kaz - the china palace is probably great for a big party and they do kareoke too. I've only been once before and that was years ago - I didn't like it, but that's because I'm not a fan of buffet/all you can eat places...I'm a bit weird about food lol. I know loads of people who have been since and had a great night though.
Sian - it'll be fine. - where aer you staying?
Our wedding is 27th July.

I dont know i've booked a package with a hen night company and they dont allocate your hotel until they know exactly how many people are coming x
Ooh I've missed the last few posts. Been to a birthday do at china palace and it was good fun, and I am a big fan of ayce buffets! I agree with Sijen, Concert square is perfect for a hen do!
I have just spent an hour on phone to my moh, who lives abroad, planning my hen. We're leaning towards a meal, a cocktail making class at revolution then staying there in the hired area or moving on to somewhere else nearby. My fave rev in town is st peters square by FACT. Where to eat first? As close to the Rev as possible. My absolute fave rezzie is Il Forno but possibly a bit exp. I feel bad asking people to pay too much. (The cocktail making is £24 each)? And even though we aren't dressing up (maybe a colour theme) they might not let a big group book?
What's Mayur like, the indian on duke st? Ideas? X
CommentAuthornatalie2614
I love Il Forno, anywhere down there is nice though! Matthew Street is definitly the place to go on your hen night, cheese at its best, something for everyone!

Hmm see I often go to Mathew Street so fancied something different. I like Alma de Cuba and The Peacock (hope that doesn't get censored! haha!) around St Peters Square.
It's difficult because i'd feel bad asking people to pay a lot to come. Have only been on one (abysmal) hen do and didn't have to pay a lot. I know some people's hen dos are much more expensive than my plans, i'm not going abroad or to a spa or anything, but I don't want people to think, 'oh yikes, i'm skint and this night out's gonna rob me blind!'.
I've contacted Il Forno to see if they'd let us book as a big-ish group. You can get a pizza or a pasta for a tenner so I'm thinking it's not too bad. x
CommentAuthorSian''OCD''Holkham
I've started planning mine now so people know well in advance and have time to pay it x
TBH, hen night is the last thing on my mind, and I'd be happy with a last minute night out with the girls, nothing too rigid in plans.

Problem I have is out of the 20 on my list, only 5 live in Liverpool! My friends are spread all over the place (London, Switzerland, York, Cardiff etc) so they'll have to book accomodation and sort travel etc.
H2b is going to the races and has got to get that booked and paid for soon so i'm getting asked about mine all the time! x
CommentAuthornatalie2614
I have quite a lot of friends down south that would like to be involved in my hen night, although theyre mainly royal marines that just want an excuse to drink and dress up like a woman! Like they need an excuse....

Haha nice!
I've had a few set menus from Il Forno that sound fab and are priced between £18 and £36 for three courses. I wasn't looking forward to a hen do originally but now i'm quite excited! Italian food, cocktail making and then see where the night takes us!
She asked if I wanted a theme, which I'm undecided on! I don't fancy dressing up, but a colour or something is ok with me!
In other news our rings have been engraved and h2b is collecting them as we speak! Woo! x
CommentAuthornatalie2614
They're not bad prices for Il Forno. Think we paid about £40 each when we went and that was 2 years ago.
Exciting news about your rings! What did you get them engraved with? xx
Married my best friend 05.04.2013
CommentAuthorKate4
Yeah the set menus are pretty good actually. We go fairly often and the bill comes to at least 60. But three courses for around £20 i think is great value.
We got '01/09/2012 Happy Together'. The date (obvs!) and Happy Together is our first dance song and it sort of fits for a wedding day sentiment. xx
CommentAuthorSijen
I love Il Forno. We did a cocktail making sesh at Rev in Albert Dock and got pizza and wedges etc with it. I'm sure it was only £25 each and that included the food. It was really good. You could always go to Tapas Tapas - they always have deals on and the food is fantastic!

Hi ladies!! Just heard about a new shop opening on Smithdown Road on 30th January, they're called the wedding suite and will sell everything to do with weddings, except the dress! So all sorts from accessories, table decs, entertainment maybe? Just thought you might want to check them out if you're passing - I'm worried if I do I'll start to change my ideas! But if you're making your own stuff etc then it may be worth a look!
CommentAuthornatalie2614
Thanks for the heads up bridalmiss, if I get a day off anytime soon I'll pop along there once its open

Ooooh yes me too! Sounds good.
I have been battling with my chair cover company for a while and finally got it resolved today so I have a bit of a weight off my mind! I booked and paid deposit in Oct but then changed colour scheme and have been trying since then to check they can match my colour sash otherwise I might have to use a different company. It's taken a while but have finally got my answer and should be fine. A sample is on it's way to me. Silly how some little things take such a long time to get sorted but then other bigger things are so easy!
Hope all the Liverpool girlies' weddings are coming along nicely too! x

pics are up! only have a couple of stock photos in ivory (i'm getting white) and not very clear, but the dress in real life is absolutely gorgeous, so much intricate detail it really is breathtaking. Not sure how much you can see from the pic but the skirt is beaded with tiny pearls and the top is very delicate and has a beautiful shape to it. I have a lovely cathedral veil too edged in lace to match the dress perfectly...now I need shoes and a pearl/diamante tiara to match :) absolutely made up it's nothing like I thought I would get, but I knew it was 'the one!' x
CommentAuthorKate4
Ah it's beautiful! So pretty! :-) x
CommentAuthorKate4
Sijen, my mum took a pic of me in it when we got it home, but it wasn't done up so it looks huge on me, my hair's a mess, the veil is on wonky and the lighting's awful! Decided not to show it to anyone as it's not flattering for me or the dress! Or my bedroom in the background which is a state! I've tried to find a stock one but none anywhere.x
CommentAuthorKate4
oooh and also, for some reason this morning I woke up deciding I might like a string quartet for the breakfast/reception. Any recommendations? I asked the head of music at the uni I work at for any students who might be available and he said he wouldn't recommend anybody!!!!!! x
CommentAuthorhoneypie
So excited now. Completely changed my mind on the colour scheme too and I'm going for turquoise!!
Good luck smarties, I'm having trouble trying to find a harpist for my ceremony...let me know if you find anyone! x
CommentAuthorKate4
H2b has said no. We can't afford which is fair enough. I'm just worried our wedding will be boring!
oooh I'm turquoise too! Pale more aqua really but same shade! X
CommentAuthorbridalmiss
Oh, damn you and your aqua blue tones, makes me really miss our blue/green turquoise! Raspberry it is though - hopefully finalising my flowers though around April time so suppose around then I'll get more excited about the colour scheme!
As for the harpist, I've not booked her but I've heard of one called Branka Crowder who's supposed to be really good, she's based in the Wirral - she has a website :-)
CommentAuthorKate4
Your raspberry is lovely though! Oooh I was looking at her website today! Is she reasonable?
If I can't win h2b round will have to think of other ways to make our wedding more interesting!
CommentAuthorbridalmiss
I don't know how much she charges, a friend said she'd seen her at a wedding and she was really good - think you'd have to contact her for a quote :-)
