Think we're going for a Spring Theme, lots of green, purple and white.
Herbs mixed with lavendar for flowers?
Packets of seeds for favours in a tiny terracotta pot :)
    Centre pieces in watering cans
Ribbons tied around the posts like a May pole.
Any other ideas for Spring theme?

I'm having a cupcake theme as I love baking and making cupcakes!

Have got blue bridesmaid dress with pink sash under bust - types of bright cupcake colours you see on designs. Accessories and flowers will be pink to match the sash.
Invitations are blue and pink also to match bridesmaids.
Wedding cake is of course cupcakes with giant cupcake at top of tier for us to cut. Can have desing and icing any colour i want.
Geetting cupcake style favours for the ladies. Have found quite a few things on amazon thats only costing just over £1 each. What we're gona do with these is wrap them and let the ladies choose - like a lucky dip thing, instead of having to decide who gets what and they can swap if they dont like what they pick. For the men we have no idea!
Tables will either be a cupcake shape designed and laminated for table numbers or they will be named after types of cupcakes.
Would like balloons in those colours to place around the hall and wedding flowers will be pink.

I was very much against a strong theme. I felt it was more important that our personalities shone through rather than what the wedding magazines deem trendy.

That said, we've sort of ended up with a theme of "The Best of Scotland".

My dress is being made by an award-winning Scottish Designer (as is my mother's dress).
Grant's kilt suit is also being made by a fantastic Scottish designer.
We are getting married in a very Scottish castle, which has been in the same family for over 400 years.
Obviously the men will all be in kilts (duh).
We're having a humanist ceremony with a handfasting (Humanist ceremonies are legal in Scotland, not in England).
Our menu has been devised largely based on Slow Food principles with most ingredients being fresh, local and seasonal.
Our wines are being provided by a local fruit winery and will travel a grand total of two and a half miles door to door.
Our photographer has a very Scottish name (wasn't originally included on our list, but he emailed me when I posted something similar on another forum)

We're sticking to very classic colours for attire and very clean colours for decorations.

That said, we're having fun still. The real theme is "us"!

We're naming our tables after our favourite TV shows.
We're styling up our photobooth to look like a TARDIS.
We're having a BYO cupcake table so that Grant can get a non-stop sugar fix throughout the night.
We're having music we really love for key moments in the day and largely performed by friends and family.

so were having red roses and thistles in the bouquets and buttonholes...

the tables are going to be names after cities in both england and scotland that mean something to us, eg leeds (h2b uni) manchester, glasgow, london, edinburgh....

Whisky for men favours and english lavander soaps for ladies...

    men in kilts...

    thistle and rose invitations...

My wedding is at the beginning of September in a tudor barn on a beautiful estate in Cornwall. It's that crossover time between Summer and Autumn with a touch of medieval feast.

    flowers: roses
apples (there is an orchard on the estate who will provide us with some early apples and apple juice)
fresh, local vegetables grown on site, local organic meat, bread will be from flour milled on the estate
    colours: red, purple and gold
screenprints in a medieval style on the walls
    music: medieval musicians
    lanterns outside
table arrangements - possibly tiny apples on curly willow sprayed gold.
    hog roast in the evening
    medieval dancing in the evening

You can get medieval dresses, but I've not gone that far!!

My theme is kind of an English Country Garden/traditionally English theme, colours are green ivory and gold, I have butterflies on my cake, on tiaras, in flowers and my FGs are carrying butterfly wands. I will also have herbs in the bouquets and considering scattering crushed herbs on the tables. At the reception we will be having a traditional afternoon tea with sandwiches, cakes, and cream teas, then evening party we'll have a ploughmans buffet with walkarounds of bangers and mash, fish and chips and ice cream cornets.

Fantastic thread! I'm in the early stages of planning a medieval (ish) theme. We both love history, are huge fantasy fans, and neither of us are into the pomp of a traditional wedding. I'm pagan and want a very natural, peaceful day incorporating our love of medieval fantasty so it should be interesting! I am desperate for more ideas so please let me know if you can think of anything

My Fiance and I are having a Church Wedding, and then the Reception is being based on a Fun Fair because that's how we met, and we work together at the Fair as well.
It's all a mix of colours, with lots of lights, etc. The tables are named after Fair Rides, and the place cards are Carousel Horses. Then we have some of the Fair Rides outside, provided by the Showmen we work for. Our cake is two tier with a Waltzer car with a Bride and Groom sitting in it.
We have personalised place mats of Carousel horses. These are pictures made by myself, coloured then laminated, as simple as that. But these are things I do and sell, as a job, so I just dropped the odd ones in between my orders to get them all made.
