Hi just wondering if you have any ideas to help with my theme cos been reading ur posts and u seem quite good lol im having white and pastel colours the inspiration came from ice cream flavours as naming each table as a different flavour my 5 bridesmaids are all having a different colour dres one in lemon one baby pink one lilac one baby blue and one in a light green help pls for table decorations invites etc thanks
Colours - Choose from Gold, Orange, Reds, Chocolate brown, hunter green Dress - Gold/Ivory would go well with most colour schemes. Maybe faux fur wraps, capes, shawls. Flowergirls/bridesmaids - furry hand muffs, baskets of dried autumn leaves or petals to scatter. Grooms - Gold, burgundy, hunter green or chocolate brown can be matched to the groom, best-man and ushers waistcoats, cravats and ties. Favours - Chocolate leaves, Sachets of pot pourri, autumn candles, Miniture bottles of wine or mulled wine. Pumkin seed sachets - Toffee apples for children. Cake - Decorate with marzipan leaves, acorns, or other autumn themed items or flowers or consider a croquembouche (profiterole tower cake) for a great effect. Decorations - If you are lucky enough to have a farmers market nearby you could pick up ponds of materials to decorate your venue. Corn stacks, wheat bundles etc..Garlands decorated with berries, mini fruits bows and ribbons or flowers to match your bouquet. Bowls or potpourri scented with apple and cinnamon would smell great but dont overpower it. Centrepieces - Small tree/branches with small hanging tealight lanterns - Baskets filled with leaves, flowers and berries with a matching bow - Dried flowers in a crystal vase with a raffia bow or matching bow - Hurricane lamp surrounded by a grapevine wreath, decorated with leaves and flowers. - Pillar candles in dark reds/burnt oranges/warm yellows on a simple tray filled with flowers and berries or dried leaves. - Hollow out the top of an apple big enough to fit a tealight into and place these around centrepieces. Table Names - ie Blackberry, elderflower etc... Invitations - Maybe think about using dried flowers throughout your stationery. Save the dates in the shap of sycamore leaves maybe. Flowers - Gerbera daisies in autumn colours, Dahlias, Burgundy Roses Sunflowers, Mimosa, Delphinium, Gladioli, Orchid and Roses are all available at this time of year. Confetti - Some churches frown on paper confetti would most would be happy to have dried leaves or petals thrown. Guest book table - On the table that displays your seating cards or guest book, place a basket of dried flowers with cinnamon sticks and crab apples or tiny pumpkins. Food - Hot filling foods would most likely be very welcome, soup (possibly pumpkin) crusty breads, roast meats, apple and blackberry crumble or Fruit platter cheeses and nuts. Evening Food - Hot jacket potatoes with choice of fillings - Hog roast Drink - Mulled wine, fruit punch and spiced apple cider. Mother of Bride and Groom gifts - Instead of a traditional bouquet why not a hamper of fruits/wine Transport - Possibly a vintage car in dark green or red. Entertainment - DJ, Jazz band, possibly fireworks if venue allows.
If you can think of any more ideas for this one or any others please add. xxx

Could you get an ice cream van at the venue?? Or one of those old fashioned theatre ice cream boxes (not sure what they're called - think of a box with a strap round your neck)
Glass vases with 2 different coloured sands - ie White and Pink sand layered in and swirled for raspberry ripple, then corresponding flowers (probably silk ones rather than real)
I'm now a married woman
I have a gorgeous husband
Whats to do now
Theres no more wedding planning to do

14 - CASINO ROYALE/MONTE CARLO/JAMES BOND WEDDING THEME
I know one or two on here are doing this type theme so your suggestions to add to this or a different style of this theme would be greatly appreciated.
Colours - Black, white and deep red. Favours - Casino chip chocolates or chocolate dice - Playing cards (bay of e do job lots of james bonds playing cards) Black and white tuxedo boxes for men, Diamonte boxes for ladies and water pistols for kids (just make sure they cant fill them while at the wedding) Decoration - Silhouettes fo bond and bond girls - Possibly frame filstrip type posters of films. Tables - Name them after bond villains/girls/film titles/ Entertainment - There are James Bond and shirley bassey tribute bands, James Bond string quartets available for hire. Magician to do close up magic card tricks - Casino tables - Roulette wheels - Meet n Greet Lookalike (bond/villain/girl) Black Jack, Poker, James bond table trivia or James Bond Top Trumps. If budget allows stunt men and cocktail jugglers. Centrepieces - Revolver table confetti Dress - Gold would be lovely - Jenny Packham wedding dresses include sparkle and solange as worn by Solange in Casino royale only in Red. Groom - It could only really be a James Bond inspired suit, finished with 007 cufflinks (bay of e) Bridesmaids - In deep red Flowers - Grand prix roses would look fab! Invitations - In the shape of Martini glasses/Cocktail shakers or add silhouetttes of bond girl & bond (ie bride/groom)or even better try making silhouettes of yourself to add to invites. Take a pic in the pose and cut round it onto black paper. Guests - You could ask guests if you wanted to dress in ballgowns/tuxedos/black tie Transport - Aston Martin would be great if budget can stretch - If you require transport for guests and you are using the quintessential british element of Bond, a red london bus would be great. Drinks - Serve all drinks in Martini glasses,,,even fruit Juice. Martinis or Martini fountain if appropriate or Martini Luge or make and name your own wedding cocktail. Food - Decadent canapes Cake - 007 and other designs of cupcake toppers (bay of e)Or Maybe a stack of poker chips tiered cake, obviously a different size and colour for each tier. Found a really fun pic of a tiered cake with lots of James bonds on doing various stunts(pic will go on my photo album under themed ideas) Also seen a great super sexy spies(bride & groom) on am azon. Table plan - Add silhouette cocktail glasses and diamontes to add sparkle. Another fun idea might be to have someone at the entrance of the reception and to ask guests for the secret code before they enter....obviously sent with invite. Something that could be a giggle.
Any further ideas for this or any other theme, most welcome! xxx

15 - CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY/WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY
This one is torture as Im dieting Please make my year and someone say they are going to have this as their theme! You could go for either the Charlie and the choclate factory style or the Willy wonka and the chocolate factory theme. Both have similar themes however, the newer Charlie one is a little darker in style. Colours - Cream or Ivory with a chocolate brown - Pinks and Browns - Cadbury colours would also look great. Favours - Chocolate bars or Wonka bars they are still available on a number of sites, Make gold tickets to hide in some, possibly to win a free drink or small prize. Food - I would possibly steer clear of too many chocolate food items for a meal or buffet instead have for afters a Chocolate fountain with a range of fruits/sweets to dip - Candy floss Centrepieces - Edible of course, flowers can be made from marzipan/icing or chocolate - long candles can be made from rock. You can also buy edible candles. Decoration - Giant lollipops, mega rainbow lollipops - Candy floss trees - Bubble machine (preferably not near dance floor) - sweet coloured balloons - balloon arrangement companies can make candy canes using red and white balloons, ask what else they could make to go with this theme. Invitations - Could be a gold ticket with info printed on wonka style. There is also the possibilty of printing a unique number on each ticket and holding a prize draw after the speeches, possibly have a bottle of champagne as a prize ....make sure all guests bring their ticket Dress - Gold would be perfect - Pink or Ivory with a choc brown sash. Groom - If he could be coaxed into a Willy wonka suit (tho be careful his best man doesnt call him something that sounds like wonka) Entertainers - You could hire or ask ushers to dress as Oompaa Lumpa, they could roll out a red carpet for bride and groom/direct guests to seats etc...You can even hire your own Willy Wonka to meet and greet guests! Candy buffet - You could really go to town with this - the more unsual shaped sweets the better - Lollipops, candy canes, sherbert straws, gobstoppers, cable sweets, liquorice pin wheels and lots of choclates Drink - For children Lemonade and pink lemonade - sugared glasses - accessorise drinks with cherries/sugar pop stirrers/small choc lollipops. Cake - Pink with chocolate roses - cake made completely of chocolate with choc decorations, with each tier a different flavour of chocolate. You could really do this theme as low key or blow your budget to include a chocolate river....yes there are companies that supply this and more! Not been able to spend as much time on this one as Id have liked but if anyone can add to this or any other please do. xxx
Edit - You could also names tables after bars of chocolate or possibly wonka characters.

16 - HARRY POTTER THEMED WEDDING
Sorry but I couldnt leave this one out....I love Harry Potter! This would work great at any time of the year but would work especially well at Halloween time or Christmas. Colours - You could adopt the colours of your favourites hogwarts house. Deep reds, greens or purples would work best. Tables - Name tables after characters, spells or Diagon alley shops Centrepieces - Cauldrons with overflowing flowers in your desired colours. You could add dry ice to this but never touch dry ice with your bare hands as you could get some nasty burns! Invitations - On parchment scrolls maybe with a owl or hogwarts seal. Food - A start of term feast would look fantastic with soups, chickens, hams and of course Harry Potters favourite treacle tart. Drink - Butterbeer, pumpkin juice or make your own potion (cocktail) Favours - There are sites on the internet that sell Harry Potters chocolates and sweets, one that would be good for a wedding are tubes of Powdered Veritaserum (looks like silver and white sparkly sweets) Cake - Possibly a castle cake of use spellbooks for each tier. Toastmaster - You could ask your toastmaster to dress as Dumbledore, well its worth a try. Ring Bearer - Its possible to hire an owl to be your ring bearer....obviously you do have to book thru their human handlers, owls arent great with phones or email. Entertainment - You could buy the Harry Potter soundtracks to play during the meal - You can hire lookalikes which include Snape, Hagrid, Dumbledore, Bellatrix Lestrange and of course Harry. - Mix and mingle wizards which are whacky wizards who are magicians with a flare for the dramatic; who recreate a world where magic is commonplace! They can arrive riding on mystical dragons, create magical effects with coins levitating in mid-air, turn candles into salt, have items disappear in whisps of white light, cause sweets to explode, and create the most sophisticated illusions!. The magicians have Warner approved costumes who have worked on licensed events - Plus many other types of Potteresque entertainers. (if you require the link please ask). Decoration - There is a company that does the following - Hogwarts themed backdrop (8ft x 16ft) Smoking Cauldrons, Hanging Flame Lights Hogwarts House banners and pendants Platform 9¾ themed entrance Black starlight stage backdrop Candelabra and lantern table centres Effective colour changing lighting Real plants & palm trees decorated with fairy lights Black table linens with gold runner and red napkins Black chair covers with red and gold co-ordinated ties Themed balloon floor bouquets Table party accessories (party poppers, noise makers etc…) Harry Potter themed Table Plan Harry Potter themed name cards Harry Potter movie background music Pre-event co-ordination Delivery and installation crew 1am breakdown, clear up and collection - (Please ask for link if interested)
You could go mad with this theme, or you could use some subtle details from the Harry Potter theme to add a bit of magic to your day. Any further ideas on this theme please add. xxx

17 - MOULIN ROUGE/PARIS WEDDING THEME
Colours - Red, black and white Venue - If you havent yet chosen your venue, try to find one with an antique feel and if it has a stage all the better! Dress - Maggie Sottero does a very aptly named "Moulin Rouge" wedding dress or any upper body corsetted style dress. Maybe have a white dress with a red or black design. Jewellery - Diamonds are a girls best friend, but not cheap, if you wanted to shower yourself in diamonds, there are alternatives, ie diamonte, diamonique and cubic zircona that would work just as well. Bridesmaids/flowergirls - Red would be great on the bridesmaids and if you had a young enough flowergirl who was willing to dress as a green fairy....just an idea. Invitations - Use the colours of red, white and black with a victorian 1889 era style. - Maybe use the quote "The greatest thing you can ever learn is just to love and to be loved in return." on your invitations. Centrepieces - Redroses with black feather and swarovski crystal stems. Red and black linen would work best or white linen with black and red accents. There is even a site that does a cancan girls leg centrepiece. Decoration - Use a mirror ball for sparkle, ask your DJ if he can create the eerie green light to accent through the nights music. Think of using black feathers, red hearts and diamonds in as much as you can. You can get illuminated eiffel towers off the internet. Red drapes would create that lavish feel. Food - French cuisine would fit perfectly Drink - If you have bottles on your tables print off vintage absinthe labels along with your names and wedding date. Favours - There is a site on the internet that just do french favours in all shapes and sizes and materials. Or you could buy your own bonboniere and wrap in black and red tulle. Playing cards would also work well as a favour for men. Entertainment - A casino would keep guests amused - Hire a band with a male and female singer that can perform some of the duets and love songs from the film, Like "Come What May" and "Your Song". - Buy the soundtrack to play during the meal. Maybe hire a french accordianist. If budget allows hire acrobats. Maybe if you wanted a fun act you could hire can can girls or dancers to perform "lady marmalade" or if you are really brave you and your bridesmaid could choreograph your own routine! Cake - Can be decorated with edible diamonds - Maybe use feathers and hearts as a cake topper.
Moulin Rouge is quite a popular wedding theme and can be very classy and elegant. If you can add to this or any other theme please do. xxx

18 - VICTORIAN WEDDING THEME
The Victorian era lends itself so well to creating a beautiful wedding. I have based this on the more opulant, lavish side of the victorian era, rather than the humble peasant side. This would be great any time of the year. If you were using it for a summer wedding you could go for a Victorian Garden Tea Party or to make a christmas wedding even more special by using Victorian touches. If a summer wedding look for grounds to include statues, rose gardens and fountain. If a winter wedding try to find a venue which has a victorian interior, lavish furnishings and possibly a roaring log fire. Colours - Burgundy, copper and jewel colours. Venue - If you havent chosen a venue already, look for a victorian hotel, a ornate hall or manor, or a castle. Whatever venue you are having if its a summer wedding, lush landscaped grounds would be a huge bonus. Dress - Possibly buy or hire a beautiful reproduction Victorian wedding gown complete with glorious bustle and white lace-up ankle boots. Add crocheted wrist-length gloves. Some brides may choose to wear an antique dress that is genuinely Victorian, or have an antique dress reproduced with modern materials. Others may wish to go for a more subtle and understated look to their attire. But Victorian women often wore huge skirts, with layers of petticoats underneath them, along with corsets, which lacks subtlety. Long veils were also common Jewellery - Think of a silk ribbon around the neck as a choker, a cameo necklace, a brooch and/or pearl choker. Accessories - Long lace gloves and a sparkly beaded purse would look great. Flowers - There are 2 main styles boquet used: Tussy Mussy a tightly arranged, hand-tied blooms slipped into a decorative cone. The Cascade bouquet, which we still see today, although for us they look slightly vintage. Typical Victorian brides carried a bouquet called the posy. It contained flowers of pale colors such as pink, blue and lilac, and was circle-shaped to represent everlasting love, with a rose in the center. The most common flower for a bride to wear was an orange blossom, which was a symbol for purity, while her attendants typically carried roses. Incorporating some of these colors into a Victorian wedding will add strength to the theme. Victorians placed great emphasis on the meaning of each flower type, you could have a lot of fun with this part. There are lots of sites on the internet which can tell you the meanings of flowers. Ferns also played a huge part so incorporate them into bouquets, centrepieces etc... Popular Victorian flowers include orange blossoms, roses, daisies, pansies and hyacinth. Groom - Victorian men dressed to the nines for formal occasions, wearing white shirts, white vests and white bowties. All this was topped off with a black tailcoat, sometimes referred to as a traditional style tuxedo, a top hat and white gloves. Transport - The best transport would be a horse drawn carriage, complete with a driver dressed in victorian costume. Cake - Generally fruit cake with white icing, fancy ornate scrolls and adorned with flowers such as orange blossoms, they were also filled with lucky charms attached to ribbons for the bridesmaids to gently pull out, the charms can be kept to only one of the tiers. Food - Victorian food could be very extravagant think oysters, caviar, beef consomme, rabbit, mutton, duck, pheasant, beef, turkey and sole. Desserts light lemon and apple tarts, plum puddings, scones with fruit and jams and mince pies. For a buffet tuna and cucumber sandwiches are a must. Drink - Brandy, wine and champagne. Also a selection of teas ie earl grey, darjeeling and english breakfast. Teas can be served with petit fours and chocolate dipped strawberries. Favours - Crisp white boxes tied up with satin ribbon, small beaded purses, decorative hand fans, tussie mussies, anything floral, anything ornate and pewter. The Victorians adored favours — the more complicated, the better — and used every excuse to hand them out, even at small parties. Paper weights, victorian bookmarks, pewter photo, mini scented lace pillows frames, small morrors for ladies and handkerchiefs. potpourri and sachets boxed and tied with ribbon, homemade shortbread cookies, boxed scones, fresh jams with a personalized wedding label, petit fours or chocolates shaped as doves, hearts, or cupids, and, last but not least, ornate Victorian paper fans featuring images of lovers and love poems, and fashioned with lace, dried rose petals, tiny satin bows, and a tassel. Thank you gifts - Pocket watches would be lovely for the groom and/or best man. Maybe elaborate pewter photo frames with a sepia picture of you and h2b in for the mums. Or possibly hand carved cameos. Engraved lockets for bridesmaids. Decoration - Lace tablecloths, fringed lamps, Crystals wherever possible, candlesticks, candelabras. You can get Victorian era newspapers to place on tables in the welcome room as guests arrive. Invitations - Add a Victorian touch to your invitations with embossed letters and hearts, cupids or doves. Use calligraphy for the wording. Hand deliver the invitations, where possible, in keeping with the Victorian tradition. Entertainment - For the music and entertainment, think strolling violins during the cocktail hour and harps in between courses at dinner. Selections should include anything from Beethoven, Chopin, and Tchaikovsky. For dancing, you could hire a string quartet, to perform the waltz. You and your h2b might wish to take ballroom dance lessons to perform a waltz for your first dance. Centrepieces - Candelabras would be the most appropriate set with long taper candles, hanging crystals or scatter crystals around base. Table name - Possibly name tables after jewels or literary artists ie Tennyson, Bronte, Dickens etc... Tables - If possible have floor length tablecloths. Top with antique lace. Guest Book - Use a traditional guest book or alternatively scour the internet and car boots for victorian postcards and leave scattered on the guest book table and ask each family to fill out their own postcard to you and your h2b. Traditions - There are many victorian traditions you want want to incorporate. Don't miss the repopularized Victorian cake-pull custom, where the bride (or in our case, the cake maker) ties ribbons to charms and tucks them between the layers of the cake. Before the cake-cutting, each bridesmaid pulls a charm from the layers, and learns her fortune. An anchor charm meant Stability; a clover, Good Fortune; the flower, Blossoming Love; the cross, Peace; the heart, True Love. And the wedding ring? You can probably guess that one. Hint: it's a lot like the bouquet toss. Photographer - Ask your photographer to take some sepia photos or better still have some Victorian-themed photos taken of the bride and groom at a costume-friendly photography studio.
There is so much on the internet to help with a victorian wedding. If you are looking for a Victorian Christmas wedding you cant go far wrong by reading or watching Charles Dickens "A Christmas Carol" You can also add things such as Crackers, christmas carollers and roasting chestnuts. If you can add more to this theme or any other theme please do so. We are having a christmas wedding and since writing this my h2b has fallen for the theme and now we are having a "Victorian" Christmas wedding!!! We are even thinking of changing our venue to a Victorian inn that is actually closer to where we live and would lend itself perfectly to this theme. xxx
