I'm going for a Tiffany theme...

My bridesmaids are going to be in tiffany blue
The bouquets are going to be crystal bouquets in silver and white, buttonholes, corsages and table centres to match
the cake is going to be done like stacked tiffany boxes
Favours are going to be tiffany blue boxes, and inside will be jelly rings and candy necklaces
Invitations are pearlescent pockfolds with a vintage brooch to seal (they look like little handbags)
Tables are going to be names after pieces of jewellery
I'm also hoping to have 60's inspired hair do's

I'm still working on the rest, but Kris is in charge of the cars, and they aren't going to match the rest of the theme!! He has it narrowed down to the General Lee or "Eleanor"

Well my h2b and my boy and i went to my first ever footy match few weeks ago - sadly to say im hooked lol.
    FOOTBALL THEME -
depending on team colours. but im having:
royal blue and white dress, blue cravats and hankies. football themed cufflinks: footballs, red/yellow cards/fav team
    my garter is Chelsea one.
im having bunting made from old chelsea bedding. Which says mr & mrs on it.
Ring cushion isnt the same now. Have now purchased a chelsea teddy bear which will be my sons to keep afterwards, im having the date we get married on the bears back (he has a shirt on) And have a ribbon put on his hand for somewhere to tie the rings on to.
Football ticket invites (example on my pix)
Order of service could be football programmes
table plan : green card (pitch) with football shirts to show the table layout with tables named after Chelsea legends. Such as John Terry, Lampard, Osgood, etc.
    Favours: Chocolate footballs.
Kids party /activity bags: football bouncy balls, whistles.
Also have requested a Congrats letter from Chelsea for Groom present. (received it along with congrats letter, signed JT pic)
Im also getting a ladies cut Chelsea top with my new married surname on the back for him/me.
Our cake is cupcakes which will have blue icing and chelsea / football edible sugar paper. And a miniture cake with a unique cake topper with Me (bride) groom and little boy. Boys will be in chelsea kits.
If your budget allows it: you could get married at your chosen football teams home ground. (chelsea wanted £15k - we enquired)
    Also have football table trivia.
    EDIT -
Present for him - photo shoot with you wearing his fav team shirt. i did it. it was great fun!
Party food bowls - football ones.
    football table confetti.
Someone suggested to me about centrepieces: getting a vase that wide enough at the top to hold a miniture footall. Or large enough to fill vases with chocolate footballs.

We have picked a SEASIDE THEME......

we are having a seaside themed wedding cake with seashell shape marzipan for decoration (hopefully)
we are having a seaside themed candy table with candy floss, candy pebbles and sticks of rock (doubles as our favours)
my daughter flower bouquet is pale blue and might try to find a matching dress
I am thinking of glass jars with sand and tea lights for centre pieces
We have also been collecting small seashells from the beach to use instead of table confetti
we are also have beach/sea themed/designed lunch boxes for the guests at mid-day

there will be more but this is just what we have planned so far..

    Great thread!
    What about all the eras?

    20s - Great Gatsby wedding

Sparkly long fitted dress with cap sleeves
    (Faux) fur shrug
    Finger waves
    Elegant art deco jewellery
Art deco fonts on all stationary
Art deco arts (like Tamara de Lempicka) hung up for decoration
Feathers - like ostrich feathers as centre pieces
    Bridesmaids are flapper girls
    All guests dress up too

    30s
less iconic than the 20s but similar elements - no flapper girls

    40s - WWII inspired wedding

Long dress with sleeves or cap sleeves
    Victory rolls
Bms in knee length 40s dresses
    Guys in vintage uniforms
Guests are asked to dress up
lot's of vintage props - radio, phones,
stationary could look like ration books
    40s swing music
    lot's of vintage crockery

    50s - American diner

    shorter full skirt dress
    mellow brushed out curls
birdcage veil (also applies to previous 2 eras)
    big petticoat
colours either typical candy colours pastels or vibrant red and turquoise with black and white
    lots of retro sweets
could serve typical American diner food like hamburgers, hot dogs etc.
    vintage kitsch props
    polka dots
    Cadillac

I also love the two following themes

    Carnival/Circus

    Fairground
Circus Font on all stationary (invites could be tickets)
    Ticket rolls as centre pieces
    Lots of vibrant crazy colours

    Whimsical woodland creatures

    Wedding in the forrest
woodland animals as a strong feature of the day

And our theme is not really a theme as such - I also was against a typical matchy matchy theme because I wanted US as the theme. At them moment it's more me :-)

    Suppose it's a 50s/whimsical woodland creature theme

I'm a vintage gal so I wear a dress I normally also wear but in white and with a bigger petticoat :-)
The 7 bms have all a colour each (red, green, blue, yellow, purple, orange and pink) and got told to buy any 50s dress they like in their colour with white polka dots. They will all wear white petticoats and white(ish) shoes but whatever style they want.
There will be polka dots everywhere, lot's of bunting and lot's of tissue paper pom poms
We are getting married in a pub under a fake deer head and I collect fawns and toadstools - so they will be heavily featured in the wedding - in the form of 50s vintage kitsch deer pottery, they will accompany antique books as centrepieces
Cake will be cupcakes but the top one a toadstool with a gnome couple on top.
Stationary is not fully decided yet but will be very much likely a 50s cartoon couple talking to each other
Music is very carefully chosen - songs that mean something to our relationship, they don't tie in with the era at all. Well not the majority at least.
The whole wedding will be flower free - I am crocheting my own bouquet and many tissue paper pom poms will substitute for real flowers.
No vintage wedding can exist without moustaches on sticks - and lips on sticks for the ladies
And another strong feature will be cupcakes - I am making cupcake garlands, mini cupcake favours for the kiddies (small stuffed toys) and a cupcake as a ring pillow.
And did I mention polka dots? Eeeeeeeeeeeeeverywhere polka dots :-))

Kimberlee your invitations are brilliant, did you make them or are they from a template? We are also having a footie theme although our football teams are rivals! We did think of speaking to our respective clubs at the end of the season to see if they would give us some of the leftover unused tickets to use as place settings. You have given me some good ideas to be getting on with.

getting married around 31. of October - Halloween theme

Could do this totally commercially kitschy with orange/purple and black and the usual props you can buy everywhere or the more gothic approach.
Could also combine with elements of the very colourful Mexican dia de muertos (day of the dead) - have seen great wedding cakes online
    guests could dress up

I've seen online a few A Nightmare before Christmas themed weddings

My personal wacky dream - which I'll never have - would be a Las Vegas Wedding. But a really tacky kitschy one with Elvis officiating and some Marilyn double as my witness. I'd wear a totally over the top outfit and even though I don't like bling it needs some rhinestones because after all Elvis is there :-)

Maybe something like these in your colours, could be used. My nan has a spiral wood branch tree instead of a xmas tree with these on as well as those vintage metal hearts, you could use one of those, which could them double up as a wish tree. Just a thought.

Just heard an INCREDIBLE cover of Coldplays "Paradise" in Swahili (so it's renamed Peponi) - done using Grand Piano, Cello, Vocalist and hand drums (don't know their proper name), it's AMAZING! :)
Link is on my wall, or search Youtube for "The Piano Guys" - they're awesome :) Have so many amazing songs I'd love to use at a wedding :)

I LOVE the Carnival theme! But not so sure about what type of hot food to put on?
Was thinking mini hot dogs with mustard or ham burgers? Want it to be 1950's Carnival/Retro theme because I think this will be more budget friendly and also more fun, but really struggling thinking of savoury foods for that decade?
Would the usual pickled onion/gerkin/cheese on cocktail sticks work? HELP!
