..LL IMHO is NOT the way to go if you wish to lose weight and keep it off. It is a fabulous way of getting rid of weight fast..but, as I have said before unless your 'heads' sorted and you know why you over eat then any diet is doomed to fail in the long term.

Best weight loss is slow weight loss.

also if you lose a lot of weight fast then you are very likely to be left with a load of saggy skin.

Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise..drink little and often...and lose weight slowly with exercise.

..also, a size 18 you don't have too much flab to get saggy skin from..(you might disagree).

    Swimming is the BEST exercise...

iv gone from a size 32-34 to a size 24,lots of gym work to tighten up muscles and swimming helped me,im also doinf it again now with plenty of aqua aerobics, walking and gym exercises,to loose the weight is fab but you have to tighten up the body muscles to avoid saggy bits

you can tell the difference in someone who loses weight through crash diets and someone who does it with healthy eating and exercise. you get far better tone, and you feel sooo much better. also if you exercise and build lean muscle mass especially in the big muscle groups (thighs and bums etc) then you metabolism speeds up meaning you burn more calories when resting as muscle takes more energy to maintain than fat. so exercise more and you can afford to have takeaway on a friday night and a choccy bar every now and then. start with walking and swimming and if you can join a gym, the advice the instructors can give you is invaluable. drink 2-3 litres of water a day, cut fags, booze and caffiene down (as much as possible but best if completely) lots of lean protien like chicken and fish and fill up with lots of fresh veg and salad. really watch your sugar intake as this leads to sugar rushes and slumps and results in cravings and binging. i have never had a major weight problem but i put on 4 stone last year- a combination of overeating and pregnancy. my daughter is now 5 month's old and i've lost over 3 stone and i'm back into a 10. exercise can be fun. you just need to find what's right for you. it has to be a lifestyle change NOT a diet

Its medically not the way to lose weight! And likely to go back on again. It puts your body into something called ketosis. Which isn't good.
I've lost 6.5lbs in 3 weeks on weightwatchers and feel amazing for it!
I hope you really think hard about it honey, it isn't good for you xxx

any diet that involves starving yourself isnt good and could do more harm then good, ketosis is something diabetics get i know as im diabetic and it basically leads to acid in you body burning fat and making you ill, alot of diabetics think that alowing their bms to run high the ketosis will help them loose weight, but it doesnt ,,,its very dangerouse and personally speaking id consult a doctor before starting it

keep a food diary and see what you REALLY eat. even i'm guilty of eating more biscuits than i thought and some 'healthy' foods aren't as low in cals and fat as you may think. also if you eat too little your body goes into starvation mode and stores onto every last gram of fat and instead you get muscle wastage

Some people might think weightwatchers is a slow way to lose weight - but I swear by it. I lost 4 stone the other year (and it took me about 16 months) but I felt good losing it gradually. I did put it back on over time - but that was only my own pigheadedness at not maintaining it with ww.

I'm back on it again now (along with h2b) and I would love to lose about 1 1/2 to 2 stone before next year - and so far I've lost half a stone in 4 weeks. It's gradual again but it feels better that way.

I usually try and keep a rough idea of how many calories I eat in my head, and think it's about 2000-2500 but if I actually think of everything - ie the milky cappucino, the biscuit people shared in the office, chips stolen from the boy, alcohol (which I don't count!) then it works out as more. I also realise that I could work a bit harder when I exercise.

Some people are more inclined to put weight on or find it harder to lose it than others because of their genetic make up, but everyone can lose weight and keep it off with regular exercise where you build up to working harder and a good balanced diet that means you use more than you eat in a very gradual way. Quick loss things are a no no for healthy weight loss - as people have said, your body shifts the way it uses calories to go into starvation mode, stops putting on muscle (so uses less calories) making it even harder to lose weight and that you will put on more when you begin eating normally again.

if you suddenly go to a very low calorie diet you body goes into "starvation mode" it then stores fat ...the best way is to eat 6 small meals day .....if you exercise already look at what you are doing and maybe change it ...if you walk try speed walking between 2 lamposts then back to normal pace then doing again ......that way you speed up your heart, try eating things like pineapple as it is a speed food ..it contain things which help break down fats etc

Stop weighing yourself .......i bet like alot of us you weigh your self at least once a day ???? so no stepping on the scale for 4 weeks , take your measurements now then again in 4 weeks and you will find that you have lost inches ...remember muscle weighs more than fat

lala I'd buddy up with you for sure..me I need to reasses my portion sizes & what I eat during the day, my body is in starvation mode due to incredibly bad habits from when I was a child, I was anorexic for a while when I ate nothing for days on end, now I only eat once a day & it tends to be stodgy things like pasta to fill me up.

I've tried breaking it down but I just don't feel hungry & can't face eating more than once a day, sometimes it's twice but it's mostly bad things like bacon (though I do grill it) on toast & sometimes it's muesli but I eat a big bowl.

I also drink a LOT of Irn Bru but recently went onto just no added sugar apple juice as I like it warm like a cup of tea & when I take tea I use a sugar that has some sweetener in it for now until I can get the taste for just sweetener.

Sometimes I drink herbal teas & some of them I can drink without sugar & milk.

The milk I use is semi skimmed & I try not to eat too much red meat, stick to white meat & fish a bit but pasta is a big one for me to eat a lot of.

I don't drink alcohol at all, except for at Christmas & New Year & I don't smoke, I don't do too much exercise but will be starting to do stomach crunches soon as I hear that is good for you & I primarily want to lose weight from my tummy.

I am also being tested for Diabetes, PCOS & Thyroid problems so these could well contribute towards my problems but I am also making it all worse too I know.

So yeah, if we buddy up we can support each other am sure :)

I saw my doctor as I couldn't lose weight on my own.
Have you had thyroid tests etc?
My doctor's advice was to increase my exercise. Try and do some every day and do 5 minutes more that I would usually do. Just cutting out one wee cake or piece of toast a day can make such a difference xxx

My H2B loves me as I am but he knows I want to lose some weight, if you don't set yourself too high a target to lose it's far easier to lose, or at least that is what I keep being told anyways :)

I lack motivation to loose weight- until i had Isabelle i was a size 10. i was complaining about it one day and my h2b said i was too skinny before n he prefers me with a little bit extra weight (and shows it also ! )im feel big for me (size 14 ) but although willing to complain about my weight - due him loving me, working full time, having an under active thyroid n prefering to spend what time i have left in the day with the kids n h2b I just not motivated- i think i need a rocket lol.
Bobbysgirl is right about it needing to be a lifesyle change n not just a temporary measure- though i believe sometimes u just need something to kickstart it off.
I tried a herbal remedy called ' CLA 1000mg ' from the simply supplements website n it says to loose the weight u need to exercise n diet while taking the supplement but i didn't and still lost half a stone which i have'nt put back on after stopping them. i would defo reccomend them, u dont have mood swings or anything on the- the only side effect is that u need the toilet a little more due to the fat being rejected by ur body !
