Not sure if this is the right category, but I was just wondering if any of you ladies had had lipo, I'm starting to seriously consider it as an option to get rid of my wings - really hate my arms as they're so big and flabby....hate my flabby legs too, but at least my dress will be covering them up.
Just wondered how much it hurt, if you had any side effects, if you thought it was worth it - both financially and pain wise.
Thanks xx

I had a friend who had liposuction and it just all ended up going back on. She spent thousands on lipo and all it did was drain her bank account.
Would working with a personal trainer be an option? You're more likely to get long-lasting results with fewer side-effects.

As far as I'm aware, lipo works best when there isn't too much fat that needs to be removed, and when the skin isn't saggy. If you have 'bingo wings', chances are you have loose skin, so if you have lipo, you could end up making this worse, and you may need to consider something like an arm lift, which will leave you with scarring
Your best bet is to arrange a consultation with a reputable surgeon to discuss your requirements and get advice. In terms of whether it's worth it, I've had minor surgeries to treat endo, and would honestly not put myself through elective surgery as I felt awful after both ops and had 8 weeks and 5 weeks off work. Lipo isn't too bad recovery-wise, though you will get pain and bruising, and need to wear elasticated bandages/body stockings for some weeks after. But if it's really getting you down, the the pros may well outweigh the cons though.
Do speak to a professional though, these are serious procedures and while people can share experiences online they can't advise you; as I said, depending on how big your 'wings' are and if there's loose skin (eg from weight loss/gain) you may need something more drastic than lipo.

I'd love to have lipo.... hate the way I look atm, and I think it would do wonders for my confidence. Just could NEVER afford it. x

Iv known a couple of people that spent a lot of money, just for it to go back to looking exactly the same. I agree with Special a personal trainer would be cheaper and prob have longer lasting results (oh and alot less painfull !!!!lol)xx
I have a pt atm, only a couple more sessions left.... I am happy with how it's going....but don't know what am gonna do when it finishes :-(
Now Mrs Cobb!!!!!! :-D

I think that you are being too hard on yourself amd that you may see yourself very differently from how others see you. Before you contemplate any proceedure, specific toning exercises should be your first port of call. I know i have said it before and been in trouble for it, exercise is your best and cheapest option, not to mention pain and scar free.

I'd just point out that while exercise is generally good for toning, if someone has a lot of weight to lose they can often be left with loose/excess skin, or if excess skin (as is often the case with bingo wings) is the issue to begin with, exercise won't have any impact, the only way to get rid of excess skin is through surgery.
If it's just toning/losing weight though ie it's just a bit of flab, then yes diet and exercise can work wonders and are way more healthy; plus there's no point getting surgery if you don't first adjust your life-style, as you'll only end up back at square one in the long run

im not against any kind of surgery, lipo, botox etc if thats what that individual wants- BUT... i am a bigger believer of doing things on your own- i would rather look back and think how hard i worked to achieve the look that i want rather than a quick fix, but like i said its a very personal choice

Thank you ladies, and gent, I have changed my life-style since the new year - I'm 1lb off losing a stone and a half and have still had a life in the meantime as I didn't want to 'diet' I wanted to live healthily with treats every now and again. I'm also trying to exercise at least 4 times a week and I walk to work and back which is over a mile each way. I know that my arms have gotten smaller since January, but I can only tell by some of my clothes - others are still tight on my arms.
I don't think I will go through with the Lipo - think h2b would seriously dissaprove!!
So any toning tips would be great - I try and do a Davina work out dvd in the mornings before work, but I don't feel like this works my arms, more my legs and stomach.
Thanks for the advice and any tips would be great :-) xx

For all the money you could spend on lipo you could hire a really good personal trainer who will contact the areas your not happy with, thats what im doing and its great it does work and you feel supported too : ) i hate my bingo wings so im doing dumbell workouts everyday and its starting to work lost an inch in two weeks :D xxx

Oh wow, that's really good Kye :-) Yeah I'm thinking a PT is the way forward...still tempting to find out more for the quick fix!!

I know people who have had lipo and because they hadn't changed their eating habits, they put the weight back on. I had a procedure called bodytite after I had lost 3 stone and this does help with excess skin. It's the same principle as lipo, but you are awake during the procedure. Other thing to consider is that if you are put to sleep, there is the chance of complications. Both procedures are expensive. These are my photo's

Wow Lisa, that looks amazing - I've never heard of that before - how does it work? x

Not that I'm looking to have lipo, but those results look great and a great alternative to actual lipo! Just had a lookie at their website but am a bit worried about looking at what could be pretty explicit video whilst at work! Will look later though! PS. Lisa - the results look great on you! Hx

I'm not going to lie it was at times very painful and it was still expensive. I was awake while they did it and it is still done in a very similiar way to lipo. They basically melt the fat and suck it out, while a warm disc is rubbed on the outside of your skin to help tighten any loose skin. They took 4.5 litres from my stomach, flanks and back. I still have some loose skin, but if you are realistic about the results it can be a good alternative.
