is there any way we could have a 'like' or 'love' option, similar to that well known social network site??
i find that sometimes i read something and think, 'that sounds great', 'great advice', 'love that', and would rather 'like/love' it than comment
any chance this could be an added feature??
also, does anyone else think this would be good??

Its a great idea but would be good if you got points for liking say 10 points a like x

I like the idea of the like button, but if you gained points I can imagine people just pressing the like button just to get the points.

another non wedding forum I use gives credit to your user status for every time your posts are liked ie in that case newbie to junior to senior etc

i agree mrsbroady2be, that's why i think it would be better to gain points if your comment is liked, not the other way about :)

That would probably be better in case anyone went through every single thread liking every comment
CommentAuthorHa_x3
Great idea, i think you should add a poll to this thread so people can choose wether they agree/disagree kisywisy, Surely more people who agree the more likely it will become a feature :)

I love this idea, but I agree that points should be given to the user that was liked. I've seen this system on other forums, and it works really really well.
CommentAuthorGazza 122
yes like the idea, but only give points to the user who was liked. Sometimes its too easy to get points and just like everything :) I think tho - if you were to just like a post - you may be less inclined to post on the comment...i love this forum because it takes into account all sorts of people - all with very different opinions/ideas etc.....and i get alot from peoples comments...not just coz someone likes what i have done/said....does that make sense x
CommentAuthorMrsKisywisy
i get what you mean, kev's angel. it's just that sometimes i read over a thread and think, there's nothing more i can add to this, there's no point in me posting just for the sake of it, but i like other people's comments
i absolutely think the points should only be awarded to the poster, not the liker
i think i use fb too much, i automatically search for the like button in anything i read online lol!!

I like this idea but not with point's.........................don't forget ladies the whole system will eventually be changing so that you get points for using the whole site rather then just the forum. And if you get points for liking something EVERYONE will like EVERYTHING just to get their point's up which will be bad for ukbride as they charge to become a POWER USER so if you do this you could get your points up in a matter of days which means no money coming into ukbride which mean's no power user monthly prizes

Like! :)
Although I think having points for it could end up coming under systematic abuse, not in an intentional way but everyone may get a bit "like" happy lol.
Or maybe just have 1 point per "like"? Or even 1 point per 2 likes? Xx

Could we also have winking smilies? Can't see one and I would use it ALL the time Hails what about the person receiving the likes getting points?Think it would be good even without any points but would be nice to have another way of earning points xx
CommentAuthorLegoWife
I think one point per like you receive would be good.
Or even maybe 1 point per 3 likes on the same post.

Sounds like a really good idea! i'm the same, often see something and think I "like" that or its good advice, feel like by the time I leave a comment they wont see it... x

This is great! I often read through threads that may have posts from ages ago that I think are brilliant but by the time I'm on there the conversation has already moved on! Would be great for all the members to know when they have given good and helpful advice too! xx

I don't mind a 'like' option - but I don't like the idea of awarding points for likes. After all, we're all on here for wedding and general discussions and not as a competition if you can say the 'best' thing. I know most people won't mean to do this - but like on any site, some members are going to 'like' posts by their friends, and even if they don't mean to, will side with certain people as everyone (even subconsciously) has preconceived ideas about people around them.
