hi, welcome to the site. I dont know any sites to recommend but we are having a 12 noon wedding and unfortunately it did not work out cheaper for us. my friend however saved money by getting married at 4, having just afternoon tea, and then an evening buffet about 9pm? This may work well? Good luck x

the later the wedding, the more cost effective you can make it, also means you dont lose the 'party' spirit. a midweek wedding is usually cheaper.

what kind of things are both you and the mrs into?? i mean like hobbies films things like that, you might come up with something.

if you need any help just message me, im working on a similar marriage up here, so maybe able to help you down there.

have you done a budget yet?

    Congratultations btw/

    Welcome and congratulations
I would agree - a later wedding is probably more likely to save you money, you can also look at something other than a formal sit down meal which are normally a lot cheaper like afternoon tea or a bbq

There are so many people out there who will tell you
    what you can't do.
What you have to do is turn around and say, "watch me"!!

We got married at 2.45pm and it worked out more cost effective as we had our reception at 5pm, which lasted til about 7pm - then straight into the evening for drinks etc.

I agree with everyone else that a later wedding will be more cost effective as you go straight into your meal, hog roast is definitely the way to go ......................as long as neither of you are vegetarian of course ;)

Contratulations btw ....................hope all the planning goes well xx

Hello and congratulations! There are a few ladies on here who are marrying women and have had some lovely ideas so you will find lots of help and inspiration. There are also lots of women doing it on a very low budget and have managed to have found amazing bargains and have inspired me greatly. I would love to pass on some tips myself but I think I'm the laziest bride ever and I've probably ended up spending more to save me time. I see you have 24 months to go and I have a good feeling that you may be able to get married in a church by that time. Happy planning.

    I can't wait until 29/06/2013

Hey welcome and congrats on your good news :) I've found weekday weddings are much cheaper. If you're wanting a party in the evening why not do it later int he day and then it's just the one 'do' to pay for.
Or if going for an afternoon tea theme, call in all favours from friends (or just deligate to them lol) and get them all baking and making :)
It's all come together. The two of you sit down and think what important to each of you and see what's in common on your lists. You may find a theme come from that. Don't settle for things just so you can tick them off a list though. Both of you be happy about your choices. Most of all, have fun together doing the planning and make it about you two x

One thing I forgot to say is I love pink, love it, love it, love it! My h2b not so much. He wanted a midnight blue colour scheme and I obvs wanted pink, so we've compromised with purple.

Hi congrats on your engagement & welcome to the site : )
We're doing the paperwork on the thursday then classing our blessing on the friday as our wedding day, having the ceremony at 6pm then going straight to a buffet reception, its saved us a fortune !!
Im the girly one in our relationship , my OH hasnt worn a dress for 20 years so shes currently hunting out a tailor to make something special.
What about sitting down with your OH and looking at different shades of pink, you may find something thats not too "girlie".
    Lovely to "meet" you
    xx
