my friend is thinking about having a church wedding but she's not sure what happens with the legal side of things? do you need to go through to same process as what i am for a wedding outside a church?
CommentAuthorRhiannonollie
yeah I think you still need to give notice of marriage and all that stuff dont you!?
Im having a civil wedding so I dunno!
is soooo happy and lucky

that's what i thought i'm not sure either hmm
CommentAuthorMrsMelodyWalker
Nope.. you don't give notice of marriage, well as far as I'm aware.
I'm getting married in a church and all we have to do is attend church, attend church whilst our banns are being read and ask our parish church vicar to read our banns
I could be wrong and I could be missing something out lol!

If it's Church of England they have a website all about what you need to do for a wedding and tools to plan the ceremony. = )
Otherwise I'm not sure but I do think you need to give notice and have it announced in church.. Sorry I couldn't be of more help! x
You do have to give notice of marriage wherever you get married. We are getting married in a church but you have to give notice at your areas registry office. Thats the legal stuff that allows you to get a marriage certificate.
Not all churches need it announcing so you can check with the church but you definately need to give notice at the registry office to get married.

the banns are the legal side of things if its a Cof E or cathlic church, but methodist and united reformed churches you still have to give notice at your local register office.... as far as i am aware anyway lol prob best to check with the individual church to be on the safe side :) x
