    Hi Ladies

I would like to get my legs waxed before the wedding, so that they are done for both the big day and our honeymoon (we leave 2 days after the wedding for a week).

I have never had it done before! Do I book to have it done the day before, or a few days before? Do those 'DIY' waxing kits work? And how much is a reasonable price to pay to have it done?

I hope I have the right category for this! As you can probably tell I'm clueless on this!

    Thanks Ladies

I think you are meant to go for a trial or a few goes first- I know this is the case for underarm. I have tried DIY and I dont think the effects are that great.

Veet removal cream is really good and lasts much longer than shaving if you want to avoid waxing!!

    Hi,

For underarm waxing, I always have it done at a salon - because it's next to impossible to do it yourself. Have it done 2-3days before your big day, so the red pimples go down. I usually pay £11 for an underarm wax.

As for legs; I do that myself using sugar wax (from B00ts). I find the sugar wax easier to work with than hot wax, plus the remaining sugar wax residue just washes straight off. This can be done the day before (I've never had any bad reactions e.g. pimples).
But if I did get my legs done at the salon it would be £14.

    I hope that helps x

I personally would recomend getting it done about 8-10 weeks before then a couple days before, I normaly pay around £20 for a full leg and bakini, I much prefer this than DIY kits as you don't have the proper training for wax strips and I always find I miss bits. I find prof waxing does not really hurt a light pinch very quickly over, kind of tickles. But will never ever get my pits done again it wrecks!

I got talked into waxing by a salon owner although I was and am perfectly happy shaving but thought I'd give it a go. I let her wax everywhere and paid about £40. It tickled as she did my legs and underams and I lay there giggling the whole time, but the bikini area did bring a slight tear to my eye. I had to go back to shaving though because I like to be fuzz free all the time (I run the razor over my legs everytime I'm in the shower just in case) and waiting 6 weeks for the hair to be long enough to be waxed was really getting on my nerves. I found that I was only really hair-free for a few days before the stubble started appearing, which is only a day or so longer than when I shave.

Ive had my legs waxed a few times, you don't always get silky smooth. This is because if you regularly shave your hairs can be all different lengths, so when it comes to waxing (unless you leave them for a long time) it wont pull all the hairs out.

if your going away for a week id shave your legs, like mod says 30sec int shower with a decent razor will get you smother!

ive started having a full bikini wax, results are ace but letting it grow out after for next wax not so good!

the think is with waxing compared to shaving is it gets rid of the hair and when it comes back its thinner, my mum has only ever waxed and she has very little hair that comes back now

I would say get someone to do it rather than doing it yourself ... And defo a few days before in case your skin reacts funny or anything! I've had most areas done, and I find underarms hurts like a blinder!!!!

I don't know if I'd bother at this stage unless you've been letting your hairs grow for AGES. As hisduck said you will have different rates of growth, which is why most salons either recommend making sure hair is very long (think at least a month-6 weeks of growth) or else tell you not to expect good results until at least your 3rd or 4th visit. For this reason I didn't persevere; it's expensive at salons near me (£45 for a full-leg; £30 for a hollywood bikini), and waiting for the regrowth was maddening. I did go 3 times, and each time I started getting regrowth within 10 days, and then had to wait over 3 weeks for there to be enough to get anough wax; basically I was spending a fortune to spend 75% of my time hairy lol, and gave up. Now I just shave.

Better than waxing IMO is epilating; it takes quite a while, but you can do it on very short hairs (approx 2-3mm) and it lasts ages; if I can be bothered to do it properly it lasts me a good 3 weeks, and then I only need to wait a couple days before I can do it again. Way better IMO. Epilators cost from about £40, so, not much more than a wax, and you get to keep it!

i use sugar wax on my bikini areaa and underarms and do at home and just shave my legs. i will just get my eye brows and bikini area waxed the day before the wedding as i never have any reaction just a little redness for a few hours.

Gonna give the Brazilian a try. Never did it before. All i know is that a lot of ice will be used later to numb that delicate area
