hello, is any one else having a later wedding to accomadate one meal rather than 2? im trying to save money as much as possible and thought by catering for everyone once I can also include my 'night guests' in speeches etc. I hope it will still be an enjoyable day for everyone doing it this was? x

We're getting married at 12 then having photos done back to venue for a hit Buffett speeches, gifts mingle etc then having a cold Buffett and choc fountain with evening guests, we did think of having a sit down meal but for 40 people it would have been an extra 2,000! Our honeymoon is paid for instead and like all weddings people turn up and some you haven't seem for ages then after its all over you don't see them til the next one or a funeral! X

we're getting married quite late around 4pm then having picture's straight after and just an evening reception not doing a sit down meal at all, just doing a buffet as I know if I sit down to eat I'm not going to want to dance etc and that's the bit i'm really looking forward to (other than marrying my h2b) lol , also it add's another £2-3000 to the bill and we'd rather take the baby's to Disneyland in America tbh xx

We are getting married at 3.30pm, dinner of Hog roast and buffet ready for the picking at 6pm, music from 7.30pm!
So you are not alone! There is no way we could afford to feed people twice!

We're getting married at 4.30 and having a sit down three course meal for 28 at 6.30 we are trying to keep it pretty informal with just a few drinks in the hotel bar afterwards. I'm worried sick that people will be miffed that there isn't any entertainment as such but it's planned now so what will be will be!

My sit down meal is for 4ish so early enough to let the food go down before drinks and dancing and not too early that people will be hungry. We've ordered a buffet for the reception guests but there's enough orders if the ceremony guests want more to eat.

Originally we planned to do a 430pm wedding in the hope that the venue would only do an evening price for venue hire, but nope, so we had a 3pm wedding. As we got married in the venue of the reception, they had to turn the room around so we did not go to eat until 545pm. This way only one meal was needed. Worked out fine for us and the guests. As it was a 3pm wedding it meant that most peeps should have eaten prior to it anyway.

We didn't, we had a 1.30pm ceremony at the church, arrival for canapés and drinks reception at the reception venue was approx 3pm, followed by the 3 course wedding breakfast at 5pm after the receiving line at 4.30pm, speeches and cake cutting at 7pm to 7.30pm then first dance soon after. We also had an evening buffet at 9pm which went down very fast as i think when people are drinking, especiallyyoung men they get hungry again qquickly.

Therefore, I'd suggest if you're aiming to only feed your guests once that you hold the ceremony as late as you can, is it possible to do it at around 5pm! Then you have photos after taking you to approx 7.30pm then eat later at say 8pm, that way your guests may not get so hungry during the party xx

We are having a later meal, but we're still putting on food in the evening... We were just going to do bacon sandwiches and the cake, but we know how hungry we all get at weddings and how as individuals we would want food... plus some people coming to theevening do will be there for several hours and be expecting enough food for an evening meal even if it is informal, so we're doing 2bowl2 food so it's not messy like a buffet table, or wasteful. plus will always be hot and fresh and not being kept warm by bain maries!
