i have got the final payment for the main wedding venue. although i dont have actual numbers quite yet they gave me a rough estimate of £1200 i have £1500 and 3 further guests to original plan however im not happy about being charged £5 for a jug of juice i want around 4 jugs for the children attending plus any non drinkers , im thinking as i have the money in cash before the required date now would be a good time to go in cash ready and stipulate what i want for the cash. do you think this is a good idea? or am i being cheeky? we got a good deal on the place to be fair as we are having ceremony ,som flowers and 3 course wedding breakfast for 45 included in this price but im really hung up on £5 for juice! its £4.50 per glass of wine too and i know they are not paying anywhere near that! i appreciate they need to profit but they most certainly already are guests staying over are paying £145 a night on top of the £1200 would you bargain for cash? I don't see why it would make a difference for paying cash or not....
But if you don't ask, you don't get! Xx

we are getting free jugs of juice for the children a bottle of juice doesn't even cost £5 so they are why over charging you on that one. I would at least ask for juice to be included in the price for the day time x do they have a drinks package ours is £14.95 which includes buck fizz on arrive, a bottle of red white and rose on the tables plus still and sparkling water and sparkling wine for the toast.
I think you should try to bargain either way it doesn't matter if its cash or card

exactly what i thought id rather provide juice myself could provide pure juice for that cost! think im gonna atleast ask . the reason why cash talks in abusiness is its up to the owner how much they declare hence you can normally always get a better deal for cash. really im quite lucky the price for the venue in this area overlooking the sea is a great deal but the juice thing is really bugging me! silly i know but i know what it should cost!

Barter barter barter... or just say you want water on the tables... tell them its extorionate and unreasonable.. they can't charge you for tap water either.
And we lived happily ever after!

I think this would depend on when I found out the prices. If I had known from the start then I wouldn't as it was my choice to book. X

At a hotel they would have to put a function like that through the books hun - I work as a business advisor specialising in taxation matters, and they would risk too much by not doing so - particularly as the till rolls are likely to show increased takings from drinks etc and increased expenditure from food.
By offering cash for a discount, effectively you are telling them that you think they are defrauding hmrc - and to be honest, if they were happy to do that to save money, I'd be worried what other corners were being cut...also, I doubt the wedding coordinator has any say whatsoever what gets declared on the tax returns - that will be down to the accountants who are legally bound to report such goings on under SOCA.
If it was a builder who does his own tax return, then yep, most will give you a discount for cash.
A lot of business that do offer a discount for cash are normally ones who usually operate on a credit basis - for example, at my firm the terms of our invoice our payment within fifty days - however they get a discount if they pay within seven days. This kind of treatment is often referred to as a discount for cash regardless.
But I Deffo agree you shouldn't be paying that much for juice! I'd ask why it's so much, and as Valentina said just ask for water and add your own juice...our hotel charges £7 for fresh orange jugs - its only £3 more expensive for a bottle of wine!

I's say ask because the worst they can say is no. Although, if they do say no, I think their argument would be that you have signed a contract with them (I assume) and although it may not say specifically about the jugs of juice, it may say that the extras have to be paid for by X amount of time before the big day.

cant hurt to ask, don't ask don't get, but I would not be surprised if you don't get anything , I would barter in general not on the fact your paying cash, as when / if they say it makes no difference to them if you pay by cash you have no other bartering tools left - your costs seem nice and reasonable but wouldn't let that stop you asking :) good luck ! x

We got a good deal on our drinks package as we were paying in full there and then. If you don't ask you don't get x

You could try bargaining but I don't think it will make any difference whether you have cash or not as most functions will only accept possible bargaining when you first sign the contract :S

Thinking about it that's where most places make their money even the 2for1 places the meals are a good price but not the drinks x

The venue we had to cancel wanted £3.50 per GLASS of juice.. £5 for a jug which probably supplies 5-6 glasses isn't bad zi don't think xxx
