We are asking for donations big or small just what guests can afford, in anonymous envelopes all of the same colour so no one feels obliged to give a huge amount. We want a holiday with our children so money or travel vouchers would be great. Trouble is my h2b feels that its cheeky asking for money. Please please please post on here if you are asking for cash/travel money too, so I can show him its the norm for modern weddings. Thanx ladies! xx

We're asking for donations. Got everything we need for the house but we can't afford a honeymoon so we're asking for travel vouchers

    It's right what they say
"The course of true love never runs smoothly"
But if it had been easy then we wouldn't love each other as
much as we do right now - 1 week to go :D

I'm not personally doing this, but we're not having a gift list or anything... BUT A huge amount of people do this, and find it completely normal.. I also wouldn't be offended if I recieved an invite and the couple were asking for money! However... if H2B is going to feel uncomfortable about it, why not do a holiday gift list through debanhams, or a travel agent? xx

Well, maybe H2B would feel more comfortable with that? It's all good us telling him on here, but he may have reasons for feeling that it's cheeky whatever his reasons, maybe find a way around it, without asking for money directly.. xx

oh yes!! l have a house with everything in it and all my sisters are giving me cash, euro's or vouchers now all my friends have been asking and they have told them to give me money or vouchers think it is pretty much the norm these day's unless you have a specific list with a shop!! good luck hunni hope you get your wish xx
when people have asked me directly l normally say anything you want, l tell them l don't have a list and l tell them what my family are doing for us xx

I think his only experience of weddings is from being young when couples hadnt lived together first and only wanted toasters etc...so the money/travel vouchers are completely new to him. xx

Were asking for money, putting those money poem cards in every invite. I first thought it was cheeky but soon realised that it's quite a popular thing to do, a few weddings ive been to as well have done the same :) xx

    Were doing this..

We made a cash request card on vista print and got them all free.

I put a nice little poem on it to nicely ask for money rather than anything else :) xx

My soon to be sister in law is asking for travel vouchers from thomas cook for her wedding in september and we will be asking for donations and then deciding weather to havea holiday on our own or children or buy furniture for the house or even help towards a deposit for our own home.

we are doing this too as its going to pay for some of our honeymoon with the kids to florida, theres some nice poems that politely ask for cash maybe if u show him one of those then he'll realise its not cheeky. heres one below
we've been together a few years now, and have a lovely home
there are not too many items that we dont already own
so please dont be offended and please dont think we're brash
if your thoughts were on a present, we would much prefer cash
the choice is really up to you and we would like to say
that we hope that you come, enjoy yourselves,
    and have a lovely day.

there are many others mentioning cash for honeymoons, i thought i had saved the one we were going to use but cant find it. tell ur hubby not to be daft though as ive mentioned it to a few freinds n theyve said that they would prefer to give cash as they never know what to buy.

    hope this helps xx
