ok... so we were hoping to have the wedding next may, and have the whole ay affair which in our chosen venue was going to cost just over £3000 - then adding in all the extras i was estimating about £4000-£4500.. but right now i dont know if i can strach my budget to that amount,... unless i put the wedding back a bit anf tbh i dnt really want to lol
so I emailed my chosen venue last night and asked for a quote for l8 afternoon ceremony and hot/cold buffet for everyone and they have quoted £1500 .. this i may be able to afford.
sorry for this being do long, but really i was just looking for some avice. have you been to or having an evening only reception wedding? how do they work ect? Advantages Disadvanges?

my wedding isnt till 4.30pm on the saturday only chose a later time cos i didnt want 2 be rushing around int he morning i wanted 2 take time and enjoy it, im having a hot and cold buffett and aslo a drinks package where they get a drink on arrival 1 4 the toast 1 4 the meal and i tink theres another 1 somewhere lol, but for room hire (3 rooms is £1000 its self) cermony "main meal" evening buffet its costing around £3000 which i thought was brill but i do honstely think if it was any other day then it would of been cheaper as most ppl prefer getting married a thursday friday and saturday well so ive been told lol. hope thats helped you a little xx

Our day isn't exactly evening only but its a 3pm service followed by a cold buffet then disco and band for evening with just nibbles in the evening and our party venue is a football club due to budgets etc but the bar is cheaper than pub prices let alone hotel prices!! you should do what you want as its your day and stuff what anybody else may think, they don't have to come!! our budget is small but even if we had thousands a big do is not our style we would blow our cash on an amazing band and maybe cater for an extra 20 day guests. also most food at weddings gets wasted especially the evening buffet so only one sitting whether it be a full wedding breakfast or a buffet will more than suffice ;o)xxx

im kinda thinking along the lines that i cant b bothere with the whole day thing, i have 2 sides 2 my family sou would cut out the top table dilema and yep give me more time 2 relax during the day, gettimg my hair, make up ect one.. will have a wee chat with H2B 2night and see what he thinks :)

I am doin the exact same hun, we're gettin married at 4, so only doin 1 big buffet n the venue said they wouldnt put it all out at once, theyd just keep toppin it up thro the night for us xx
i am having a late reception, we decided to get married at 4, just for that purpose as we could not afford a sit down meal for all our friends and family as well, so we are having 80 at the ceremony, then photographs, then welcome drink and then there are 150 for the evening buffet, which we are probably going to have between 7 and 8pm, we are going to visit the venue next week to get it all tied up and pay the deposit, but its already booked and the registrar booked x

I'd rather not have a wedding breakfast and an evening buffet and stick with a BBQ or hot and cold buffet but H2B wants one... He can blooming pay for it girls I tell ya, lol! Kx

We are getting married at 3pm, weren't going to have a wedding breakfast as we couldn't afford it buts we are getting it for a great bargain so we are having a sit down meal at 5ish followed by a buffet at night. Remember though its your day so do it how you want. remember your guest would have had there dinner already ifs it a later wedding

we are getting married at 2pm then 3pm in the church so figure we should be done by 4pm our reception doesnt start until 7pm so we decided for those that wanted we would go for a meal (those that are coming will be paying for their own food) i figure that way we get to spend time after the ceremony with the actual people that mean something to us :) xx But you do what you want and fees right for you love......

Im hoping to have an afternoon wedding and go straight for a massive buffet after, as i don't want to be paying Between £2-£3,000 for a sit down meal and then another £1,000 for a posh buffet ect... especially as i can have a buffet done for around £300 that will feed everybody. (might seem a bit cheap but thats the joys of icelands for you! )

This is exactly what I want to do but not many of the venues are willing to do it in peak season, might have to be a winter one or like someone else is doing hold reception in a football club, boyfriend just mentioned leeds united conference centre but not sure i want to go for that! Where are you all?

We got married at 3pm and had a buffet only for 120 people at 7pm. Partly because we didn't want a formal sit down meal and partly because we didn't want daytime and evening guests - just a bunch of our friends and family.

we are getting married at 5pm, i think i would enjoy it more instead of dragging it on throught the day and rushing about in the morning especially since i have 2 little one's. ever since invites went out everyone has commented on what a good idea it is to have a late ceremony and straight on to hot/cold buffet and i also have a 2 sides to my family so no top table required as it just wouldnt have worked at all. hopefull our day will go something like this:
5pm - ceremony 5:30ish - canapes put on whilst photos being took 6:15 - toast 6:30 till 12 - entertainment and buffet

butterflydreamer i was thinking of doing the exact same thing LOL im thinking of a mid/late afternoon wedding as well, 1, so i dont have to get up too early to get ready and 2, to save on paying for 2 meals.
