ok so my family is predominantly scottish, but his may have some in his family history for which we have found a tartan (which he doesn't like or want!) but he's not sure about wearing a kilt as he isn't a true jock! i love all things scottish and a couple of men on my side will be wearing a kilt. i would absolutely love to see my man in a kilt, plus he's got the legs for it which would obviously make it better lol. but he would want to pick a different kilt, like a national one. but just not sure what to do, so what do you all think?? xx

I have no idea about kilts but it's like we all say, wear what you want and what makes you feel uncomfortable and I think that should be the same for the grooms, if he isn't sure about kilt then maybe he should just go for what he wants? I'm sure you could get him to change his mind though x

my H2B is scottish and he didnt like the idea of wearing a kilt, he has never worn 1 in his life. he went to try 1 on anyway just to see and just loved it!! he originally wanted his family name tartan but as its not standard tartan it would have cost £320 for kilt and he wanted 1 for BM too so we just looked at all the standard tartans they had in shop and pick 1 we liked and 1 that would tie in with our colour for bridesmaid. we booked it there and then, but have decided not to tell anyone.... they will all see him in it at the church!! x

21st October 2011 will be the best day of my life!!!

Why not just ask him to try one on and see how he feels? If he hates it then so be it, he needs to feel comfortable on the day. But at least if he tries it he will know.

im having a fight with my H2B over it, i want him to wear a kilt but he wont as he is english, trying to make him realize that i am scottish, he has stayed in scotland for 15 years, its a scottish wedding ..... he still isnt for it. So it will be him and best man in suits, and the ushers/groomsmen and my dad in a kilt.
I mean if his son (who is english) will wear a kilt why cant he.
I think you should get him a nice one - it doesn't have to be the clan tartan - i hate the mcewan one, will be going for a flower of scotland or other purple based one.

personally I think only Scottish men should (or have the right to) wear kilts. The rest are just playing dress up..............

i have now discovered that it's not the scots on his side, they actually have irish roots and have a family tartan. a family member has quite a detailed family history of their name and where they were originally from. quite interesting actually. but he's still not sure. but i dont think i would actually make him wear one if he felt uncomfortable in one. if he tries one on at least i get to see him in one even if he doesn't wear one for the day. id just love to him in one, got a thing for a man with nice legs in a kilt lol x

I'm Scottish and pretty much every guy wears a kilt to weddings here nowadays but my h2b and dad both hate them so they are going for suits which I am more than happy about cos I just don't see the attraction of them!
