I have a little question which im hoping u's can help me

my h2b has 2 kids which cant come to the wedding (bit of background)

his sister has 2 kids and my h2bs mum n nanna r adament that we should include them within the wedding as page boys and flower girls??

personally i dont want too, but then its not the kids fault that i feel that way
h2b doesnt want them as page boy n girl as his kids cant be there n its a sore subject

but we both said that maybe we'd do soemthing else for them?

anyone got any ideas??? for them to be included but still be in the background kinda thing? lol x

    Happily Married! :) xxx

    mmm how old are they?

if they are old enough they could hand out orders of services or if you haven't got any ushers yet they could do that

why do they have to be involved? Your wedding and your way !!!

I got 4 nephews and 2 nieces (and another one on the way) and we decided we didn't want all the kids involved as too many so only asked the 2 nieces to be bridesmaids who will be 9 and 11. I have told my 2 Sister in laws though that they are welcome to dress all 4 boys in the same colours and suits and can help the ushers give our Order of service at the door and be mini unofficially ushers but i didnt want everyone walking down the aisle with me. xxx

I can understand how you feel, and know how hard it is to deal with families with opinions.
Depending on age I guess they could be handing out hymn books/service sheets, if you are having confetti a little girl might love being in charge of that.
It is your day after all and I hope they know how you and H2B feel.

They will be 5 and 6 at the wedding
Theyre very flighty if thats the right word so i duno whether to give them something to be responsible for.

Yeah to be honest theyre not our kids we see them once in a blue moon and I think other than say to their mum (h2bs sis) what colours we're having if she wants to dress them in that, then i dont see what i can give them to do!

Just tell her she can dress them the same if she wishes and she is paying for it and they can help out on the door if they want or maybe hold the confetti then if they change their mind on the day then no harm done xxx

If it's the h2b's mum and nanna that are insisting and not the actual mother of the children is it worth speaking to her about it? Could you explain to her that it's a bit of a sensitve subject that you h2b's children aren't going to be there and you rather not have children in the wedding - surely if she is a good sister she'll a) know all the circumstances anyway and so b) understand. Then, if she is ok with them not doing it you can just say to the mother in law the same thing and that you've already discussed it with the sister and she is fine with it so it is decided.

Not sure what to do if it is the sister that is insisting on it aswell sorry. x

Surely h2b mum and Nanna should understand the sensitivity here? It is their other grandchildren that won't be there?

If his kids can't be there then surely they should understand that it is a sensitive subject. My h2b has a little boy who is going to be his best man along with his brother in law, one of h2bs nieces is going to be a bm as will my niece but h2b has 4 other nieces who have no role in the day. Nobody has said anything to me and if they did I'd just tell them my decision has been made. Everyone at the wedding is a big part of our day but we can't give everyone jobs. I agree with lizzylou that you should speak to their mum for reasoning.

    I can't wait until 29/06/2013
The day I marry the man of my dreams!
