we were recently discussing what to do with the kids while we was on honeymoon,the original plan was that my mum booked a week off work and they went to stay with her.however with me been in and out of hospital so much over the last 10 mnth the kids have become rather clingy and im concerned about being away from them.my wonderfull best friend sudgested that her and her boyfriend [who happens to be my h2b brother ] pay for themselves and come along and we pay for the kids but the kids will stay with them and they will look after them.that way the kids are close by so we can spend some time together but we can also have some time alone.me n h2b think its a good idea as with being ill are funds are quite tight n wont be able 2 afford a decent family holiday on top of the honeymoon,but my mum thinks it s a really bad idea.is any one else taking there kids with them??? all advice needed and welcome please xx

yeah,she doesnt want kids of her own but is my oldest s godmother and as always been there,she takes them for the day often and takes my oldest camping at least once a year,the kids love her and gives us all a nice break from each other.x

Why does your Mum think it's a bad idea? I personally think that if you want a kid free honeymoon, then you would be better off with them staying with your Mum. I know you say they are abit clingy, but as long as you start getting them used to the idea and make it sound like they are going to have a lot fun, they will probably be fine. When my friends got married abroad, the plan was that several of us took turns to watch the kids so they could spend some quality time together but they ended up taking the kids everywhere apart from 2 evenings when they went out alone.

she thinks that we d end up with the kids all the time,but they love spending time with my friend and her boyfriend and i think it would be nice for them to have a holiday too.they prob would be fine with my mum,not sure me and my h2b would be tho.we v never left them for more than 2 nights and my youngest is only 1,so hate leaving her cos she grows up so fast.lol,we r worse than the kids.x

Awww, I think it's a lovely idea and how lucky you are to have such wonderful friends! I can understand the anxiety about leaving them for more than a couple of nights with your mum. Our friends were the same when they went for their honeymoon - they missed their little girl way more than she missed them! She had a whale of a time with her grandparents and was probably spoilt rotten too, knowing them!
Wheatever you decide I'm sure will be the right thing for you. x

i think this is a lovely idea plus you wont be stressing about them while you were away

Yeah thats why we d stay in different place so they couldnt kick off cos obviously thats a big problem,it d be like r friends were taking them on holiday n we were going on a holiday but we can occ meet up.x

she prob would,she s a natural and so good with kids,personally think she should have some herself she d be an amazing mum,but enjoyin her playin surrogate 2 mine for now.lol.x

i dont have children but if i did i would want to go on honeymoon just me and h2b as it would be our last holiday just us for a while but i like the idea of what your friend has said. will still give you time to yourselves but you are still close enough if they need you.

i can see your mums point tho saying it is a bad idea your kids will prob want to be with you all the time and maybe she is worried about you not having time to realx by yourself xx

we are taking my children because my children are aged 18 , 13, 11, and 10 so it won't be long before we have alone time forever. andy does not want any children of his own he says he has enough with mine lol

if my mum will have my girls while we have a honeymoon, i will. as much as i love my kids and would be worried about leaving them, me and h2b need some time alone as we havnt had any since we got together (my eldest was 1). Its already put a strain on our relationship just being parents and not a couple as such so i def would go without them.
Everybody is different tho, just do what you feel is best for you x

Me and h2b are going to take my daughter when we go to our honeymoon xx we're not really that fussed that this should be a time for only the two of us as we went travelling around the world a few years ago. Maybe we'll change our minds nearer the time if h2b is okay with us leaving our daughter with my mum and not his mum but to save argument and since we both have separation anxiety with our daughter.. we might just take her xx
