My venue offers a good range of childrens meals at £11 but my fiance thinks the boys should have the same meal as everyone else. His 2 young cousins are the only children invited and this was only cos the family is travelling quite a disatnce. Think the boys are 10 and 8 (definately not any older) Am i being unreasonable to insist on them having a childs meal?

hmmmm i dont know. Its worth askin i suppose. would they have to have the full 3 courses?
it would depend on your venue but most will let kids have a two course meal. My venue offers two or three courses for kids.

i also agree it depends on whether they will like the food? i've got 22 children coming and i have emailed, text or inboxed on facebook to ask what they would prefer adult or child i havent asked which childrens meal at the point but it gives me an idea of what is wanted xx

ours ar having kids meals as our main is chicken in white wine sauce and I don't think its appropriate for the kids. So they are having the soup starter - plain chicken breast, pasta and a plain tomato sauce then ice cream. Im really funny about chicken nuggets and chips and dont think its a proper meal especially when they will be so long without food

we've got 14 children at our wedding, a few will still be babies/little toddlers and will eat food they supply, but all the other children are having half portions of what we are eating(roast chicken). our venue showed us their childrens menu list and i just thought it was too full of junk. though we have ordered a different desert for the kids. i would rather my kids eat a propa meal. they can get nuggets at mc's whenever. but thats just my feelings. hopefully your venue offers something better for kids. it's really up to you. i might have a chat with h2b about your idea luvlifejen, to put a choice of childrens meals or half adults meal on the invites xx

We've got about 14 kids at ours. But my nephew is ridiculously fussy with his food. He will just about eat chicken nuggets, hates chips and any food that is not a doughnut from more reason (lol), bread and marmite! So because of him they're all having nuggets! x

the kids could have the same as us for £19 or nuggets and chips for £9 i have went with the nuggets not cos its cheaper, but because its going to be such a long day i wld rather my kids ate something they like than something they dont really like xx

I agree with raekim and biochrissy, most child's meals tend to be chip based and if thats all their getting all day I don't think it's enough. Most children (unless they are really fussy) will eat some type of meat and potato or pasta dish and it is much more filling than some of the rubbish kids normally get offered. We are having a fork buffet and while there are things somekids might not like there should be plenty that they do. Ask for a half portion of the adult meal, and maybe just two courses the main and pudding. Little ones like to feel the same as the adults so will enjoy having a meal that is like their parents.

We emailed the parents of the children to see what they preferred. Most had a half portion of the roast beef, one was going through a fussy stage and had fish and chips.

Our venue does kids meals up to the age of 13 then at 13 they get half of what the adults eat. If they are younger then the age range then they should have kids meal

its a tricky one because at our wedding i want all the attendants to have the same thing. kids are no different from adults and so i think that they should all have the same but it should be considerable amount less because you can ave them in child portions :-) its a wedding!!! i just wouldnt want the children of my family to sit there while everyone has a really nice meal and they get sausage and chips or something they can get at home :=/
CommentAuthorpennieb-MrsRiley
We're giving the option to the parents to let us know whether they want a half portion of one of the meal options or if they want a kids meal - there's very little price difference in it for us.
Now, finally, Mrs Riley

My venue offer the kids a choice for the same price. They can have either the usual crappy chicken nuggets and chips etc or they can have half of the main the adults are having. At least the parents have a choice of if they eat something healthy or not.

Exactly what I figure jo - and we've already told Steve's son that no, he can't have chicken nuggets, he can have the salmon that we know he likes anyway :P
