Hi girls i have recently joined this site as i am hopefully getting married 6th may 2011 we only have a budget of £1000 - £1500 im just looking for ideas on how to stick to my budget, im not having a wedding dress as such just a pretty evening gown so im not spending hundreds we planning on just having the ceremony as were going to go clubbing for our reception which cuts out a lot of the expense as were not going to be feeding anyone, ive got a friend doing my hair just need to find a cheap make up artist and find some nice dresses for my bridesmaids im also getting my flowers done for free as my wedding gift from a friend but still need to sort out suits for my 2 boys (they will be 2 and nearly 5) plus suits for the best man and groom hopefully i can also find a friend that can do the pictures and wedding video to cut the price on that, when i estimated everything i nearly used all my budget on just the legal stuff

Bhs do a great wedding range and arent that expensive really! they do littles peoples dresses and suits aswell as all the adult bits. failing that marc got his suit from next for £110. we are on the same kind of budget! so far we have spent £720. thats the registary office paid for, the flowers, invites (which we got from cardfactory@ £1.50 for a pack of 10.) my dress was £99 from ebay. my mum and dad are paying for reception, but only because its a bbq at their house! lol...its very easy to stick to a small budget if you shop around enough! x

Thank you i will take a look at bhs never thought of looking in there, someone might be buying the suits for us which would be good, were planning on going to my partners mums house with some friends to do the toasts and have some nibbles so were not hiring a room for the reception

Try Ebay for things like silk flowers, much cheaper than real ones. But if you want real flowers then my tip is to go to Morrisons, you can pick up a lovely bunch of flowers for £2.50 :)
For your dress - try Monsoon at sale time, sometimes they sell their bridal range off for almost no money.
If you want jewellery try Claire's Accesories and Accesorize (I should be on commision for these guys lol)
As for suits - over christmas ASDA have budget tuxedos, £40 each, saw them in the sale this january for £15!!

If you look hard enough you can find all sorts on the cheap ::grins::

    It's right what they say
"The course of true love never runs smoothly"
But if it had been easy then we wouldn't love each other as
much as we do right now - 1 week to go :D

Will also take a look at monsoon see what they have there i think ive found a nice dress for my wedding dress but will keep looking see if there is anything better :)

i was thinking of making the invites myself or getting my gran to do then as she is a card maker the hardest thing im finding is finding a venue to hold the wedding as i dont want to get married in the local registry office as the building holds bad memories for me i just want somewhere cheap and pretty so the photoa are nice and preferably a bit better than where my sister got married lol altho i doubt that will happen as she was given £5000 to help her pay for her wedding and im getting nothing

Yeah i think alot of the ladies on here know about budget troubles, i definatley do.
It may sound a bit crumby, but have you tried a local village hall. i dont know where you live but near me there are lovely halls that are quiet cheap. also some pubs and hotels do deals where you dont have to pay venue hire. it does depend on how many people are coming. like the other ladies have said too do things yourself, i am doing my own invites and just copying a style i like. its good to have people you know do things for the wedding as then they feel more of a part of it xxx

I think it's Holiday Inn that are advertising an incredibly cheap "all in" wedding. Worth looking into?

I read that instead of disposable cameras someone gave out CDs so that people could send their phone/digital camera pictures of the big day to you. you could even give them an addressed envelope.
I know cameras at a reception are not that important but you may get some wonderful pictures of your day.

the only thing with leaving disposable camera on the tables is that, at my sisters wedding the people who used them just took silly pictures of their food and even then didnt put the flash on. my sister paid like £5 each to get them developed and was so disappointed, it was such a waste of time! I didnt think of giving people CD's thats a well good idea. Thanks!
