Just wondering where everyone's going on honeymoon? and for how long? we've not even thought about the honeymoon as we would argue over whose parents would have the kids

lol I'm lucky now as my son is 17 (but still staying at my parents - I want my house still standing when we get back lol).
We're going to Malta for a week all inclusive, the Tuesday after the wedding. Really looking forward to it - in fact just in the process of applying for my passport right now (in my married name postdated).

We're going to Japan for 2 weeks! We decided that the honeymoon was more important to us than spending loads of money on a really big wedding. So we're having a smallish ceremony and then a buffet and a bit of a party afterwards. Probably more than half our budget is going on the honeymoon. xx

We're the same lil'cakes - we're only having 20 for the wedding/reception and then a party and buffet when we're back from honeymoon and back in Leeds (we're getting married in Gretna). We both decided that the honeymoon was important so that we could have some 'us' time after the wedding, as opposed to a big wedding and a short break.
Were both thinking either the Dominican republic or Cyprus for 2 weeks :) Could you not plan a 2 week holiday and send the kids to your parents for one week and your H2Bs parents for the other week? Xx

We are going on a 2 week carribean, central America ad south American cruise. We too think that a honeymoon is more important as we both share our love of travelling. Can't wait!

Htb had his heart set on miami/orlando but ive never flown.and am.terrified.of such a.long journey. I.fell im love with a.luxury week.in.malta and htb saw.how.excited i was.by all the sights etc and has decided thats where were going im sooooo excited x

we're spending 3 nights in new york, and 6 nights in honolulu, hawaii. decided, again as some have said, honeymoon was a big deal so have spend more than half of our little budget on it lol. little one will be 4 by then and will be either with my bridesmaid (who very kindly offered) or my mother. depends on how my mothers mood swings go. i think katie has a good point. if u want y not seperate the 2 weeks between each set of parents. x

yh we have hun, we went into thomas cook as they have an offer of £200 any holiday booked between 1st may 2012 and 31st oct 2012, as long as u spend at least £2000. we arent exactly going with the cheap options tho. we have 3 nights at the Hotel Metro in New York (has a rooftop terrace that looks up at Empire State Building) 6 nights at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa right on Waikiki's beach (very expensive itself) that with return transfers between hotels and airports, and flights of course. it came to £3950 in total x

glad i can help hun. i will point out that i went inside as they were more helpful and the website didnt have the prices for next summer just yet (stupid website) but u should look at the hotels that u like and then write everything down before u book. that way u know exactly wat u want xx

We are ony going to the Isle of Wight for a week... We coudnt really afford a expensive wedding, so its costing us just over 3K and thats inc the week honeymoon... we just wanna spend a few days away together..

we're not going away. my son will be in the middle of his GCSEs and i'm back working the saturday after the wedding as Wales are playing the Barbarians (rugby), so we are busy in the stadium !
we were thinking of going to new york in december, but don't know if that will happen now. Will try to get a couple of days away after gcses are over. my sister can mind my 12 yr old, and my son would be ok at home for a couple of days (i think lol )

We are hopefully going Travel agents tomorrow to see whats on offer. Was talking to a travel agent the other day and said he can sometimes get good deals to places like the Maldives when booked in advanced so that would be our perfect place, if not we were thinking of africa or something along those lines. A typical once in a lifetime holiday as we probably wont be able to afford one again for a long time xx

lol@madison... bay of e.... thats how... the most expensive thing was my dress from bridal shop £700, and off course the venue three course meal... everything else i have got from bay of e
im still having 4 bridesmaids and a flower girl... and all the tradtional things like cravats etc.. the rings was from argos for £200 for both... the cake is from M&S the honeymoon my parents are paying for but thats on £300...

@Whykeshopper its was really nice that was back in 2004, one thing i would say when you get of the plane get ready for what seems chaos but somehow works are the transport to the hotel little minibuses and they drive pretty fast lol, and carry your own bags. we stayed in a sea front bottom apartment looking right out to sea, and you open the door and your on the beach, wear sunscreen even if its cloudy i made the mistake and ended up really sun burnt, the cocktails are great and loads i liked the banana slide and me and another just married bride got absolutely drunk on trying to get through the cocktail list we didnt make it to the end lol the food was the best i have ever had, staff really friendly and the porters great for a laugh, the gift shop wasn't too bad either. go snorkeling off the beach we saw a turtle on are first dive and the catamaran trip was great, I'm sure you will love it, and the locals are really friendly and if you go into town st James get ready to haggle at the market stalls. You'll see lots of wildlife pelicans,turtles huge fish the only down side to the holiday was being on the same plane with Richard branston as all the crew left us to it really, but thankfully he got off in Barbados. we went in may and it rained a bit but it was like a heavy shower then boiling hot and sunny so didnt ruin the holiday

We are going to either do dubai - sydney - mauritus or sydney - bora bora (just depends on how much money we have left!) if it all goes to pot we are going to do sandals resort in cuba! we are asking our guests to contribute as a wedding present as we already have our own house etc! :) xx

We wanted to go to bora bora but it was so expensive, for the price of a few nights we could of gone to Hawaii for a week so that's what we're doing, LA and that area for 8 nights, a week in Waikiki and then 5 nights in San diego.

We're getting in Vegas, so the honeymoon starts there for 2 nights, continues round the Grand Canyon for 5 days on a Harley Davidson, then back to Vegas for 2 nights before coming home. Can't wait!

h2b did suggest booking somewhere, but miss practical here decided as its my 40th month after wedding and then xmas we would be over stretching overselves financially and our daughter wont want to stay with her nan.
