Okay, so basically I went bridesmaid dress shopping a couple of months ago with my three BMs - my sister, best friend & H2B's sister.

My H2B's sister is only 13, so my future MIL was also there, & we picked the BM dresses. We all agreed that we'd come back to order them on 14th October. We get married March 28th. The dresses take 3 months to make, and the dress makers in China have 2 weeks off for Xmas & another 2 weeks off for Chinese New Year. So, it's going to be approx 4 months for the dresses to get back to us - which is February, just over a month before the wedding, & enough time for any alterations etc.

We're leaving it as late as possible to order just because H2B's sister is growing everyday in every place possible, so of course we want her dress to fit. However, my H2B's step-dad is working on 14th October & unable to get it off. This means that future MIL is "unable to make it" because she's a nervous driver & will not drive to the shop by herself - it's about 40 miles away from where they live, no bus services, etc.

So yeah.. Now I don't know what to do. The dresses NEED ordering - & with everybody working full time, it's proving extremely difficult to get everyone in the same place at the same time! But I'm annoyed because the date was arranged when we first went to pick the dresses! Future MIL is now denying this, even though all other BMs know what date it is! Hmmm!

They are totally unwilling to do anything about it though - so what do I do? I don't want to take it out on H2B's sister & say she can't be a BM because it's not her fault, but then I don't want to order her dress without her being properly measured first because she's grown in the last few months since the dresses were picked. I darn't risk ordering them any later! I'm so annoyed with future in-laws.. They've not taken the wedding seriously from the beginning, even though we've tried to include them in everything! :(

She doesn't need to be there but she's insisting that she is - even though she won't make the effort. We wouldn't have room to take her anyway though xx

Is there a reason it HAS to be the 14th? Could you do it one week before? Or just get hermum to measure her and give u the measurements and u can order it yourself? xx

We go on holiday next week & don't get back until 12th October. & all other BMs have booked the 14th off work - not really fair on them if I change the date :/
Thanks for that suggestion HelenW, didn't think of that - will have to do that if worst happens. xx

I'm trying to change the date but it's difficult with me & other two BMs as we all work shifts. Trying to encourage H2B to go to his mums house the night before, stay over & then drive up to the shop with her. Hopefully something will work out xx

My sister gave me her measurements so get h2b's sisters measurements and explain to shop lady the girls age and it will be fine. My other bridesmaid was aged 12 and her dress was a little big when I ordered it but come the wedding it fit perfect (only had to have it shortened).

Thanks guys, yeah I'll definitely just get her measurements myself if she can't get there at all on the day. It's just annoyed me because everybody else has made the effort to make sure they're available on that day, & now MIL is denying it was even arranged - but it's strange that everyone else knows. We were also planning on throwing a small surprise party for H2B on the night, as his birthday is the 15th October. His mum was totally up for his & even offered to make a cake for it so how she can deny it is beyond me. Looks like that plans out of the window now anyway! Grr xx

what about the MIL going into the shop a different day to get the bridesmaid measured? it is so hard to get everyone together at the same time -i'm amazed they manage to do it on the wedding day even sometimes!
