sickof my MIL to be trying to change everything we want! she wanted us to have a religious catholic ceremony when im not catholic and H2B couldnt give a flying monkeys about religion and shes not religious either she married my h2b dad who was catholic though, also shes trying to tell me what dress i should wear where i should have my reception afterwards and even the colour scheme!!!! i want to strangle her!!!

If she persists, just say that you will be having the wedding that YOU want....

she doesnt seem excited tbh if anything it feels like shes deliberately trying to push me away from her son, she was lovely untill she found out we were getting married she hasnt been the same since, she nagging with all the wedding stuff istead of passing ideas xx

My MIL2B has not been interested in the wedding one bit except to have a go at H2B a couple days ago as we said we arent having a dj! WE've got all the equipment and a laptop/ipod to do it all ourselves saving £200 which we are putting towards the caracturist which we both really would prefer to have! told H2b that if she wants us to have a dj that badly she can pay for it! xx

Has she any daughters? Is this the first / only wedding of her children. She's doing it the wrong way but maybe she's just projecting what she would want.

How do you two get on? I get on really well with my mil2b and she is just like a second mum to me now.

I took my mil2b to look at dresses with me as she has only got two sons also she is helping me with making the invites, table plan and the ladies favour boxes. Is that something you could do?
If you have a good relationship with her why dont you sit down and explain how she is making you feel and that you would like her to be part of the wedding but if she carries on then you wont be able to involve her in anything that you and your h2b does. My mum kept saying my wedding so i just said am I marrying you then mum?? now she doesnt say it.
Its a shame that not everyone gets on with the inlaws.

OMG no surprise you want to strangle her I think i would to if my MIL was like that (thankfully mine is like MrsK2b)
I would do as others suggested just nod, say oh I will look into that idea, yes ok etc and tehn Just do as you adn H2B want and if it gets to much tehn i would be having stern words and telling her how I feel x
I would be bit concerned giving her jobs to if she is like this as probably worry me more her doing it xx

my 1st MIL was like that liked to control everything including her sons there were 4 of them as soon as they said they were getting married she changed into MIL from hell and I mean hell. She is no different now my sons won't have anything to do with her and lucky for them she now lives in Turkey best place for her. There were 2 words for her evil b**ch. So glad I haven't got that this time as both H2B and my parents are dead so we just have brothers and sisters and they have been brill.
Take no notice of her and do things your way its your day and if need be talk to H2B and explain how you feel x

Aw no have you drawn the short straw in the MIL stakes? everyone has one or the other dont they? Mine has taken absolutely no interest what so ever and whenever the W word is mentioned she puts a proper downer on it.... making you feel guilty for being happy etc! cant win can you!! Take no notice and do things the way you want, its your day... if you feel bad then do as the others have suggested and just nod along and go along with it. Good luck hun x

What I have found works well with people is saying how pleased you are that they have all these ideas and that you will pass them on to h2b as long as they don't get offended if we don't use them in the end and smile sweetly but failing that get her son to tell her to back off and failing that give her a job good luck x
