Well, Ive just ordered and paid for my bridesmaid dresses, i felt physically sick! partly because ive ordered them from china (ive heard more good things than horror stories though!) Mainly because i havent actually asked my bridesmaids if they like the dress. Pic is in my albums, theyre not brown though, the colour example is the next photo.

Did anyone else buy their BM dresses without taking the BM's to look at dresses etc?

I haven't bought them, I'm making them, the conversation was " Do you want to be my bm? Yes, well you'll be wearing this (shows them the pattern!) in whatever colour I decide to get it in!" lol xx

And love them, especially the colour, hope they turn out ok xx

As one is in San Francisco and the other one miles away from where I live, I sent pictures via email to them to see what they liked. They're both very different and my MoH was, I'll wear anything you put me in. It's your day, your way!' but the other one was a bit more picky and a pain as she's an awkward shape! So, completely different dresses for the two of them - MoH's from China (and it is FAB!) but the other one we tried on dresses in Hams of Deb and then I religously checked the bay until the right one int he right colour came up and bingo, it did!!!

I was quite lucky, I'd said that they could pick the dress style, and the colour providing it was some shade between vintage gold and dark brown lol as it happened they went for a dress I loved when I'd seen it on the website earlier, but as I'd already said to them they could choose I hadnt mentioned it.

The only thing I'd be concerned about is that there was a dress both of my BMs liked on the hanger, but they didnt like it on (similar style to your bm's but longer). Depends on what your bms are like too - are they likely to be unhappy about you just choosing? x

Remember as well that if you're likely to be bm for them at their weddings you're giving them carte blanche to do what they like lol x

TBH I think it's a little risky not even showing them the dress before buying it. Having been a BM twice AND being a very awkward shape (big boobs, small waist / hips) I found it terribly difficult trying on in shops when they were made to measure.

If your BM are similar sizes and builds and it'll suit them then good for you, but IMO, I would have liked to at least have a say in the choice.

I went looking at dresses with my MOH and after mulling it over for a few weeks went and ordered my favorite one. The two other bridesmaids hadn't seen it when I ordered but its a long floaty maxi and I knew it would be good flattering style. I didnt ask their opinion first cus I didnt want the mider of them not liking it and having to trek round with all three of them trying to find something they all liked. I'm paying for the dresses so I just went for it ;)

My bridesmaids and I decided together; I don't think I could have got them a dress without them seeing and trying it on first because I'd be concerned not only whether they'd like it or not but whether it would suit them too. I know from getting dresses online for myself before that just because I like the look of the dress doesn't mean it will look nice on me.

It was a joint decision with us. I told them the colour and that i wanted full length dresses, then we all went out and they tried loads on. luckily there was one dress that really stood out for all of us, so that was the one we went with. I wouldnt of wanted them wearing something that wasnt comfortable in.

My bridesmaids are different shapes, my MOH is petite, slim and would look good in a bin bag, my others, one is a plus size but small chested and the other is 14, a curvy 14 but still built like a teenager. I did consider everyones sizes etc before buying the dress, the one that i worried about was my plus size bm but i txt her about it and describeed it and she seems really happy.

My BM's all live in different towns and with other commitments it seemed impossible to get everyoone together to browse dresses. I was getting really stressed about their dresses and what would suit, cost and actually getting around to ordering them. H2B told me to just get them when i showed him these ones, i think he was sick of me showing him different bridesmaid dresses.

i took mine to try a range of styles and then we unanimously decided on the one for them... it was an obvious choice out of all of them. How they fit was a big thing with me as i wanted them to hang right and be very flattering.

I really hope your bridesmaidsIove your choice as it's fantastic! have heard good things about the company you have ordered from and I am about to order my MOH dress from there. I was just waiting for one of my little bridesmaids dresses to come (it arrived today from America via Bay of E!) so I could do a colour match - I have bought their swatch pack.My Mother who is really hard to please saw the dress fell in love with it, saw the rest of the site, fell in love with all most of the dresses and has now ordered her dress for the wedding.
I don't know how I could manage without online shopping!

yea i told them what colour i wanted and i gave them to dessy website to look through and they choose what suited them both and i loved their choice to be honest.
like suz and jill said I wanted them to feel comfortable its going to be a long day and iv been put in a bm that i hated myself so wouldnt want to do that to them

but on the same not some people are a bit fussy and you you have to remember its your day so what ever suits i think x

I went to a bridal apoointment and my bridesmaid was running late so I picked out a few in the style we had discussed plus a couple of others i thought were nice, i tried one on and loved it! my BM tried it on when she arrived and also loved it! we are just deciding on the shade of colour. There was another one i really liked but my BM wasnt keen and didnt feel comfortable in it which was fine. so basically we are choosing together (we are quite similiar which makes it easier) :) x

I picked the dresses online then showed them all a pic and they were all happy with them :-)

Shall be ordering them out of next months wages. Btw - anyone looking for a bargain, I chose 50's style rock n roll dresses that are black with white flowers on them for £26.99 each. They are very suitable for weddings and a bit different. If you like this idea g00gle hell bunny or pretty kitty :-)

I picked my dresses without consulting my MOH or BM, the thing is they are both pregnant at the minute so i thot of a dress that would suit them both where they would feel comfortable and wudn't feel pressured to loose any baby weight if they have any.. Pics in profile. Wen i saw them i knew that they were perfect and i absolutely love the colour so my scheme is royal blue and ivory.. :D

When I was a MOH me and bride found some really nice dresses that she, her husband, me and 1 other bm liked. HOWEVER, the 2nd, gobby bm didn't like it, it didn't suit her. She kicked off and we had to take them back and she chose the dress she wanted which cost 10 times as much. I didn't like it but it wasn't my wedding, I wore what I was told.
If your bm's are good friends they will wear potato sacks if you ask, if not, nothing you choose will be right!
