We got my first cat Arthur as an adult a few months ago as his old owners were moving away. Hes been really content and "naughty". He was castrated way before I got him and he doesnt go out at the moment. Anyway, I heard that some 6 week old kittens were being housed at the cat sanctuary near to where we live. H2B's mum had got one and there were about 5 more. My heart went out as I adore cats to bits. So after talking to Leigh about having a kitten we decided to go and just look and then make a decision then. We came back with the cuteist kitten that she had. A little boy kitten totally black apart from a white bit right on his chest that looks like a bib. Named him Twila Got him home and Arthur didnt like him. They sniffed each other and hissed then Arthur stuck his nose up and walked away. I thought, well he's a male, food will sort him out. Nope, he hasnt touched it (put out at 3pm and still hasnt gone) Twila hasnt ate (understandable as in a new space). Well I like to talk to my pets (Seems crazy but I think of them as my babies even though I have 2 kids already) I went upstairs to talk to Arthur and told him that Twila is part of the family so he's got 2 choices, he can either stay upstairs and sulk, or he can come downstairs and eat and see what happens with Twila. I put my hand out to make up with him with a stroke and he batted my hand away as if to say Get lost mum, "you've replaced me with a younger model". So i went back downstairs and said to him that if he's gonna act like that then its his problem. Leighs just come back home from work and Arthur was straight at him (but didnt come into the lounge room where Twila is). Honestly, Arthur can be so silly sometimes and over react as Twila is the shyist kitten i've ever seen.

he is just wairy. my mum had her cat for bout 7-8 years before she got her new puppy 2 years go, the cat still doesnt like her lol. the dog will walk past and the cat gives her a little slap, makes me giggle. the poor cat wont know whats hit her in a few days though cos the dog is due to give birth hehehe. dont like cats myself cos im allergic but its going to be hard with her living with a bunch of puppies lol xx

We live in rented house. the land lord hasnt exactly said we arent allowed pets as we dont see him, he doesnt answer his phone, i dont have his living address and it doesnt say anything in the terms and conditions. Cant get any photos of either of them as Arthur hisses at me whenever I'm in the same room as him and seen as hes hiding out in my bedroom, looks like i'm sleeping on the sofa tonight lol. and Twila is black and too shy to come out so cant get clear photo of him, its just all black with two beady eyes lol.

Arthur will be ok in time, dont forget he has just got used to yours and now a little kitten is envaiding his home. He will be a little stressed out and unsettled but once he realise Twila isnt going anywhere. You have to keep an eye on him for signs of depression, he may also start marking his teritory to let Twila know whos boss. xxx

we're moving in to a rented house in 10 days and we're allowed a kitten :) it should be in your tenancy agreement if your allowed one. Wren have you tried googling introducing cats to eachother i think there are set ways to do it to minimise jealousy between the cats xx

I've been into the pet shop up the road and they've given the same advice as my mum. just let them be for a few days. That was this morning. when I left for my hair trial you never blinking guess what Leigh ended up doing. Typical Leigh, he wants them to be friends but they arent doing it quick enough for him. He grabbed Arthur from under our bed and closed all the doors so Arthur was locked in the same room as Twila!!!! I came home with my two girls and he was backed up in a corner near to where I hang the coats up and where the bin is (Chloe is two and she puts things in the bin btw) I went to hang the coats up and he really hissed at me and tried to scratch me!!! Thats when i found out that Leigh had gone to work at lunch time leaving Arthur locked downstairs with Twila for 3 and half hours!!! I opened my bedroom door and Arthur went up there straight away. I tried to say sorry to him but he wasnt having any of it so i left him and blasted Leigh via text that he shouldnt of done that. I then called the local vet and he advised me to keep doing what i was doing before. The only person in this house that Arthur will let go near him is my 7 yr old daughter as she hasnt touched Twila and hasnt done anything to annoy Arthur. So she's feeding him and making sure hes ok because he wont even let me into my own bedroom now.
