I've been looking for a half decent piper ever since my venue decided next years package wouldn't include one, I know it's really bad but I had a certain look I was after when it came to my piper. I went to a wedding fayre and was quoted £1400 for a piper and a drummer and then another piper quoted £300. When I was at the wedding yesterday I saw the piper and knew he was the one. I spoke with my friend and asked if she'd mind if I asked him to play at my wedding and she was more than happy for us to approach him. Neil phoned him tonight and we've booked him. He wants £220 and that includes him travelling over 60 miles to the venue. We did a bit of research on the piper and found out he is the personal piper of The Princess Royal and played for the Queen Mother. He is also an honorary brother of the masonic lodge!! Absolutely over the moon that he's came in at a great price as he is just amazing :) I've also contacted a few videographers and will hopefully get an appointment with the cake maker for this weekend. I'm in major wedding mode right now. lol. xxx

That is great news and what a fab price. It goes to show that the most expensive are not always the best and you can get some good suppliers at a decent rate.

I've emailed Strangeworx and another one (I can't for the life of me remember their name) from through this way. I've watched dozens of demo DVD and couldn't find one I liked but these two are really good. Have you got your videographer sorted? x

Thanks Jo :) He was chatting away to Neil last night at the wedding and again tonight on the phone like he'd known him for years, he's lovely. I have to agree with the price - the ones charging £1400 were good but that was just it and I can't justify £1400 for good. x

We've booked Mallard Productions. I love their stuff but they seem pretty new so I'm not sure if I could recommend them yet.

No I don't blame you. Even if you have that kind of money there are some prices you just can't justify paying out for. It's not even like you have them for the whole day playing all the time either.

They look good though Sundae :)

Exactly Jo, it would be different if you were hiring them for the whole day. x
