Sorry ladies I just need to have a bit of a moan... So after I got married I decided it was time for s new job, I am a support worker working with childern and Young adults with autisum and behavioural difficulties. After 6 years I have just had enough and would really like a job with 'normal' hours and not a risk of being hurt every day!
You would think it's easy? Lost of job out there? How wrong was I! There are lots of jobs but none that pay enough I know money isn't every thing but we have a mortgage to pay and my husband hasn't got a big wage. I am just getting so frustrated at looking every day and not finding much or having interviews and not hearing much back.
Any job hunting tips will be greatly appreciated. Xx

There's so much competition for every job, people are desperate. Last time we advertised for a 12 hours per week library assistant post, which isn't exactly well paid, we had 200 applications, including people with PhDs (a degree of any level is only a desirable). We're gearing up now to advertise my maternity cover, and it's probably going to go nuts, unless we fill it internally (the university insists we advertise internally for a week before going public). The other thing is so many people are being made redundant, so competition for jobs is even higher and many jobs are filled through redeployment before external people get a look in. It's so frustrating, I hope something suitable comes up x

30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

When filling out job applications- always read the person spec and in the supporting information, use the PS heading and show how you meet each point on the PS with examples

I work in recruitment for NHS and we see so many poor applications with no supporting evidence-

Lala- I would love you job lol! But I can't imagine it particularly pays well being in a school..

I also have the added problem of Bieing dyslexic and Dyspraxic so filling out forms are really hard for me! I do have a good c.v thanks to my mil (she use to be a head teacher). So tend to send that off to places, if they dont want a c.v I will fill out the form as best I can and just hope for the best lol! X

Clair I'm top of grade 3 ( with no chance of going up as the school won't pay for me to do any qualification ) despite the fact I have specialist qualification that no other Ta has. Think it's £9 ph

I would really recommend signing up with a recruitment agency, especially one which focuses on your particular skills as a support worker, if you goggle info in your area you should find a few. They are usually free to sign up with, and can offer you flexible temping posts until a permanent position comes up. OH was made redundant in September and got his new job via an agency before Christmas. Companies often advertise direct through agencies rather than directly, esp. For more qualified positions. They can also help with CVs, applications, interviews etc. Good luck!

Generally though the state of things really are bad, the gap in fair pay is obscene and there is a lot of manufacture closing atm. Sad times :(

I was thinking about recument agencies, I will look and see what I can find. My cv isn't too bad as my mil helped me with it :). It's online application forms I seam to stuggle with the most.
I know times are hard atm, I just wish the government wouls relies the people need enough money to live on! (But that's a diffrent debate lol). I just keep looking and hopefully I will fine something soon. Xx
