I noticed that my engagement ring had a crack over the shoulder and i took it in to a local jeweller before it broke he said it needed rhodium plating which is ok. He initially said 10 days and that he'd call me as its on the high street close to were i live i went it on the 10th day and he said that he had said he only picks up on Tuesdays. So i went in today, not only was the ring not there but he said that the stone had fallen out because it was close to the break. He now says Friday again. I just want to cry I know its stupid it was supposed to be safe with them i took it in so I wouldn't lose a stone not for them to have done that. im so upset. i want to storm in and tell them to send it back to me now and I will get someone reliable to fix it. I am also getting grief from the MIL because its only a year old and I should have taken it back to the place it was brought but it wasnt an expensive ring but a style choice.

Boo, that's a real shame :( I took a ring that my godfather gave me to be resized and the jewellers lost it. Long story short it turned out to fallen down the back of the shelf in the safe, it was fine so all ok, but you just expect them to take care of things that mean a lot to you and it's upsetting when they don't. Is he going to charge you more now the stone has fallen out??

I'm still waiting for my ring back. they have now said that they might not be able to fix the stones back in because the crack in the gold bad under the surface where we couldnt see it. Does anyone know if its true that white gold cracks badly under the surface.

At this stage I would be asking for the ring back asap and returning to the original jeweller for the crack to be fixed. Or asking around for recommendations from people you trust.

i hate the fact that i did not trust my instincts to not leave it with the guy. I'm going to get it back tomorrow either way so it may be a case of putting the stones in a new setting. heart breaking but what can you do. i could go back to the original shop but they will only say that the other people did the damage. sometimes nothing goes right

weve had issues with rings too.... we are on 9 days and hubbys to be ring is a mess and has now resorted in us going in today demanding a whole new one is made.
