no way.....I made an effort to invite them and pay for their meal, the least they can do is make an effort with their outfit. Anyone turns up in Jeans to my wedding, they will sit at the back and not be in any of the photos.

I'd like to say I'm quite laid back... so far my policy has been "wear what you like- as long as you can face the photos later". But I was rather disappointed when a few of my friends came to my engagement party (a summer garden party) in jeans and a t-shirt. So I guess I would also give a resounding "no" to jeans at a wedding.

Like everyone else has said- you can buy smart trousers really cheap these days. I'd rather someone show up in cheaper formal wear than expensive casual wear.

Even if they dont buy something to wear you can still hire something to wear of they know they arent gonna wear it again like a suit or a kilt for any other scottish folk like me lol

Tbh I'll have more important things on my mind at my wedding. As long as the wedding party looks good, the bride and groom turn up and exchange vows - why worry??? In reality how many brides will have time to be bothered going round checking what each guest is wearing? At least they'll have turned up. I know it's your day - but you can't dictate to people what to wear or what colour to wear etc. You invite someone to your wedding, they either attend or don't attend - but if people are that hung up about it just don't have the ones in jeans on photos.

I get what your saying mym but if you have a group photo and see someone in a pair of jeans are you going to go up to them and say sorry i dont want you in the photots cos your wearing jeans.
I think its disrespectful for someone to turn up wearing jeans or not smartly dressed. The bride and groom obviously wanted them at their wedding at least they could do is make an effort to dress smartly and not wear jeans

mym ..............i have said to all guests that they are requested/required to wear black and white only ...this is to fit in with the theme of the day .....so i guess i have dictated what they can wear , but to be honest women have turned round and said ..."oh wonderful ,i have a fab black dress that i never get to wear !!"

actually you can dictate what people wear, if you were having a black bowtie affair, would you be happy if people didn't stick to the dress code?

it would different if you were have a black and white dress code or something like that... would you even notice if someone wore jeans? i wouldnt i'm sure i'll be too busy on the day.

if it was a member of my family i.e. a sibling my mother might kill them haha xxx

Thinking about it, there are alot worse things than jeans...

sports kit (as in just off the playing field)
    Swimwear
No clothes (unless at a nudist wedding)
    Fancy dress (not themed weddings)
    Wedding dresses
    Pjamas
    ......

Would a zebra suit be acceptable at a black and white wedding? Now thats a question...

I would be raging and would make it known if anyone turned up to our wedding in jeans of any sort during the day or night time. We had our 3 children christened last year and SIL2b man came in jeans and a checked shirt, not happy, SIL looked like a prostitute, really not happy, and some friends kid was wearing combats and a casual shirt and so was the dad, fuming, especially as we went to their kids christening dressed up appropriately! So a wedding is just as special occassion wise and my guests better turn up looking smart or they will be asked to change if local and if not, then hide in a dark corner! lol x

I wouldnt dream of wearing jeans to someones wedding and wouldnt be happy if someone did to mine. At my cousins wedding a couple of years ago, her father wore a suit during the service but changed in to jeans and a polo shirt the minute we got to the reception! Apparently after speaking to my cousin about it, she said it was a compromise as he was initially adamant about not wearing a suit to walk her down the aisle!!!

I would be very disappointed if anyone turned up to the wedding in jeans, but come the evening I don't mind. I have attempted to tell two of my sisters that they *have* to wear skirts/dresses, but this is an ongoing joke about the fact that neither of them have ever shown a bit of leg :P

I wouldn't mind jeans on the evening at mine.. I think guys in denim jeans with a smart white shirt look hot! lol.. But if some turned up to the day in jeans I'd get an usher to tell them to leave. I have clearly stated in my invites that my dress code is formal and evening attire x

Fine - then you can dictate IF there's a dress code. But if it's a wedding without a theme then black, dressy jeans look fine with a dressy shirt. And like I've said before - I'm sure you won't have time on your wedding day to scrutinise every guest to see what they're wearing. And if you have, then there's seriously something lacking because you should be enjoying the day for what it is - a day for you and your husband (after all, your vows and what you're dressed in are more important).
