I'm at my blummin wits end tonight!
My gorgeous future in-laws kindly offered to let us have our afternoon reception in the orchard of their new house. Great, free venue, VERY pretty and just what we were after. Problem is they haven't moved there yet :S
A few weeks ago the sale of their current house fell through but luckily there was another couple waiting in the wings to put in an offer and all seemed well.
So tonight Ross comes home and tells me there's been a 'minor setback' Turns out this couple were wanting to move at the end of this week but the in-laws couldn't move until the week after, this was alright. Now the buyers have come back and said there's been a problem with the bridging loan and want to put the move off until the end of March - BUT they're cash buyers, they've always had the full amount in cash, so the loan thing has baffled us a bit *sigh*
So now I'm panicking a bit - if the sale goes under again I don't know what to do for the afternoon reception. We looked at hotel packages and things but because we've got the baby on the way it's money we just don't have :(

AAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH! Right now I wish he'd agreed to eloping (lol)
Just wanted to get it off my chest

much as we do right now - 1 week to go :D

Firstly- don't panic. You've got plenty of time.

There are loads of cheap options for venues out there- sports clubs, village halls, social clubs etc. YOU CAN DO THIS.

    Thanks for the encouragement Dove.
I guess the frustration comes from being trapped in limbo with it - I just wish someone would either give us the green light or tell us it's all off. It's been 4 months now, feels like an eternity.
But I have faith that we'll sort it one way or the other :) xxx

Aww hun, it must be so frustrating for you, don't panic, you have got plenty of time to sort something out. Set yourself a limit of say six weeks and if things aren't sorted by then start looking at alternative venues. Fingers crossed for you hun

Aww don't panic yet hun! Plenty of time for the sale to go through! Having a bridging loan would make them a cash buyer, so it seems these people are waiting for the go ahead of the bridging loan, what might be stalling the process is the company wanting to know where their funds are coming from to repay the loan as it has to be repaid within 12 months and the longer it takes the higher the interest! If they are prepared to take a bridging loan out then they are obviously serious about wanting to purchase. It could be that they are waiting for a sale of another property to go through so they can use the funds to buy your in-laws place, but if that isn't happening then they could be holding off as long as possible so the bridging loan term is as short as possible!! Are you with me lol?? Anyway don't panic yet hun, I know its frustrating but I would imagine things should move fairly quickly if the cash buyer is still interested x x

Thank you so much to all of you, you've been an enormous help! :)
After a good night's sleep (well, sort of) I'm not quite as stressy about it. I'm using today to come up with a couple of contingency plans just in case, there are a few venues around where we live that we could use so I'm looking into those. We're now setting a time limit of 2 months, if it hasn't gone through by then we're going to book something else.
I understand what you mean Suzi so I'm hoping that's what they're doing. They're buying it as a holiday home for when they're back in the UK (must be lovely to have that sort of money for a second home hehe) and if I remember rightly the money is coming from an inheritance fund (???) but the stuff about the bridging loan makes sense.
I know it seems a bit early to be getting in a tizzy but we're desperate to get it sorted - tight budget + baby on way = mental wedding panic lol I'll probs be freaking out over something else tomorrow ;)
Thanks again - you ladies are absolutely wonderful!! xxx

Ahhh sounds as if they are waiting for probate to go through so the funds from the inheritance can be released! Problem is this can take years but it sounds as if they are nearing the end of the process! Normally once probate has been issued a date is given on when funds will normally be released, this can be delayed for a few weeks normally due to someone else popping up demanding their cut of the inheritance (family member or credit card company etc) but once a date has been issued it isn't normally too long after that, that the money is released which is probably why they said they want to hold off till the end of March. A bridging loan is a very costly way of doing things if you don't repay it immediately, so I would assume they don't want their inheritance swallowed up by high interest costs for the loan! Sounds to me as if they are very serious about buying the place so I think you might get the wedding of your dreams hun, just need to hang on in there for a few more weeks, you have waited this long, a little longer wont hurt lol ;o) x x x

Thanks Suzi :) I didn't really think about the ins and outs last night because the news just sent me into blind frustrated panic but the more I think about it the more it's making sense. I know they fell in love with the house and they were devestated when the last buyers stepped in before Christmas and when they found out the sale had fallen through they immediately rang up my in-laws and put an offer in so I can't really see them backing out now. So yes, they do seem more than serious, it's a case of Kerry going nuts again lol
Things are sounding a bit more optimistic today, it sounds like there'll be a moving date by the end of the week so still got all my pinkies crossed!!
    I'm just impatient hehe ;)
Having said that though I've been a very busy bee this morning and have found a venue that can accomodate us for £100 (go me lol) it includes hire of table & chairs plus it has a bar and we get full use of their kitchen facilities - happy days!! It may not be the orchard but it's the best contingency plan ever *woohoo*

Thanks again - you've managed to talk sense into a crazy woman, bless your cottons xxx

Looks like it's definitely going through, father-in-law 'had words' last night (I feel so sorry for them hehe) and told them they need a moving date by the end of this week.
Turns out I'd only got half a story - again!! lol These aren't the buyers who are waiting on inheritance and it's going to be their main home, not a holiday home (too many people have been after this house *sigh*) The story turns out to be that the people buying are living in rented accomodation, their contract is up at the end of the month but because in-laws can't move until a week later and these people buying have nowhere to go for the week it's all gone a bit mental. They've tried appealing to their landlord's better nature and asked to stay on a week longer and he's told them to beggar off, they go or they stay another 6 months. So the estate agent is now trying to find somewhere for them to go for a week *ugh*
They're still buying the house though........it's just the chaos that surrounds it now.

Ooh don't - if I go plan B now I'm holding you totally responsible hahaha xxx
