Hi! I just wanted a few comments please about whether its worth paying for a late licence at our reception venue.
Our ceremony venue has two times available for getting married as it is a national trust property and it works around when its open to the public, so given the choice of either being married at 11am or 5pm, we went for 11am.
We've been told that groom should arrive 10.15, guests should arrive 10.15 - 10.30, bride arrive 10.30 for pics and see the registrar.
Sit down meal and evening buffet provided throughout the day.
So the standard last orders time is 10.45pm, as they're licensed until 11pm. We can pay for a late licence if we want it. Would a midnight finish be appreciated by guests or too late to finish the long day?
    Thanks in advance!

Because of the early start I don't think a later finish is needed to be honest!
So I would say its really up to you and your budget, if you can budget for the extra cost then yes go for it but if its not then nope I dont think your guests will be mind the earlyish finish

I don't think you need it any later. 11am is quite early for a wedding so 11pm finish is fine.

How much is the late licence? You probably don't need it but if it wasn't too expensive it would give you the option x

I dont think you would need a late finish hun, as long as everyone gets their last drink you could still finish at about 11.30 ish?

We're going to have a long day as well we're getting married at 11:30am because that was the nearest time to midday they had!

I think 11pm will be fine though, I mean everyones going to be knackered anyway aren't they!!

We're getting married at 11am, however we have a much smaller day guest list then twice as many on the night, so we've got the bar open til 1am....I doubt we'll last that long though! The place already had a late license so that was no extra, though.

Personally, I think we would have paid (providing it wasn't to expensive) as you can never predict how people will be feeling...and there's nothing worse than the party being in full swing and the bar shutting down. Is there anywhere nerby that guests can go for drinks after if they wish?

    Xx

I think an early start shall be long enough hun unless you feel you want a longer time till 12 then pay the extra all up to you hun I think a 12am finish is the norm for the younger n middle aged guest but for the older generation they will probably want to leave earlier hun so a 10 45 fini will probably be a long time for them hope this helps =D ♥ X

Im also getting married in the morning but at 10:30.
we have been told for the groom to arrive at 10am. guests to arrive before 10:15. and for me to arrive at 10:20am so i can have quick pics and see the registrar before the 10:30 ceronmy.

I have been to a wedding with a 10am start and was suprising how many people were still dancng away at 11:30pm that evening... but they did have a 2/3hr break so can always catch a quick nap...

I think if you can afford it then it'd be great to have the option. Your evening guests might appreciate it and to be honest if you have it then there's one less thing to worry about...I think I'd worry very slighty that the party might be cut a bit short. But I guess it also depends what type of guests you have!!

    Good luck! x

I agree that it depends what type of guests you have, we're having our evening start earlier as we're all party animals & a normal night out for us lot is still being up at lunch the next day! So if you're guests like a long night out, then go for the later option :) xx
