    Hi ladies
I had a bit of a meltdown 2 weeks ago about never fitting into my dress (Maggie's sottero, Melissa brooch) so I went wedding dress shopping at the weekend with my mum for the first time.
I found a dress that looked amazing and felt amazing for my body shape now. Just a small amount of toning on the arms and back.

Is anyone else happy with there dress choice for their size now or is everyone on a big diet????
As I don't want to look back in 5 years and think how skinny I was for my wedding coz its just not me...
    Help please

I think the best thing is to be happy with how you look in your dress now. It's a lot easier to alter a dress down than it is to alter it up a size.

I am on a mission to be a skinny bride! I have my dress and it is already a size too big but the seamstress said she could take it down up to 4 sizes if needs be (I've seen dresses that she has altered that much before and they looked good) so the aim is to lose as much weight before the wedding as possible! x

I'm only 59 days away from the big day now so initially I wanted to be really skinny but now as long as my dress fits me which it did in February when I tried it on I'll be satisfied. I think that as long as you are happy and comfortable that isnall that matters, some people don't like skinny and everyone anyway has a different view on what skinny is what is attractive.

I bought mine in a sample sale in October 2011 and it fit perfectly. However, I have since lost 20 pounds, slimming down from 10 stone 2 to 8 stone 10, and still have 2-3 pounds to lose; so, it is now too big, and I'm having to have alterations. But, I slimmed down because I wanted to, and knew that my dress could be altered. I personally wouldn't buy a dress that was too small, as I don't like being under pressure to lose weight; I lost weight because I wanted to, not for my dress, which I think is the best approach. Had I not lost weight, I'd have been perfectly happy wearing my dress at the size I was when I bought it.

Because I've got a sort of hourglass shape my hips stick out most so I got a lovely a line dress but its corseted at the back so it pulls in at the waist and shows off my waist and hips really nicely. I need to tone my arms up mainly but I don't really need to do much to get into my dress.

I'm losing weight anyway but that's only because I had put on a lot a few years ago.

I am on a weight loss kick, however that was part of my plans even before we were engaged....I am aiming to more tone up now than lose a great deal more, of you know what I mean.

If you're happy with the way you look in your dress, then great!

Personally, the thing I was worried about was that white/ivory always seems to make me look huge however my dress is actually quite flattering for my figure.

I wouldn't want to starve myself and be really skinny for my wedding knowing that after the wedding It was unsustainable so have looked at making lifestyle changes which have resulted in my loosing weight which I should be able to maintain without feeling too much like I'm 'missing out'

    Xx

I aimed to lose a stone when I bought my dress. I'm now a stone heavier than when I tried it on. I'm now aiming to get back to my original weight!

I bought a dress to flatter my figure and now I've thought 'you know what, I'm going to get whatever dress I want and make my body look great to wear it!' So now on a fitness plan and cutting out all the rubbish. Luckily my h2b is a crazy fitness freak so he's helping me. I think slimming down to look good in your wedding dress is all part of it! :) xx

Am I the only person who has bought their dress a size bigger to allow for putting on weight? lol I'm not planning on putting weight on but I figured it would be easier to have it taken in that let out and because of my bust size I was going to have to have it altered anyway around the waist so its not costing me anymore than if I had bought the size that I measured up to xx

i think the most important think is to be happy (or as happy as you can be) with the size you are. If you do lose a lot of weight I think it's important to make it a lifestyle change so you can carry it on after the wedding. I've lost 5 stone (before we got engaged) and I did it so I'd be healthy and feel better and fully intend to stay this size x x

Glad you're so happy, that's how it should be! If you know any good exercises for removing bingo-wings please pass them on to me, it's the one area I'd change if I could! (Well, the one that'll be visible on the day, nobody will see my tree-trunk thighs, ha!)

at the end of the day if you feel comfortable and happy in your dress it shouldn't matter what size you are. You will look amazing either way.

I tried my dress on and getting the size i tried on, but i know i will change my body shape before my wedding as i'm at the gym, and been going before we got engaged. But i wouldn't try to be something i'm not just for my wedding day, it's just been unrealistic.

As long as your happy then nothing else matter
