Just been to see my wedding co-ordinator at my venue and during the conversation she said that Brides usually choose a venue that is a true reflection of themselves or reflects the person they want to be....?? Saying that my venue is Victorian, built for defense against battle and the majority of it is hidden underground!!! Not exactly sure what that says about me then! What about you? Is your venue a true reflection of you or what you want to be??? xx

3 large tall ceilinged rooms in an ex-Abbey now golf clubhouse - I am so not sure what that says about me. I'm old but refurbished for a modern era? LOL

Haha mine will be on a open top red bus tour of London and then a hog roast and cheesy disco on a boat, so god knows what that says! We just chose it because it was the best value for money! x

Mine is a big victorian house - don't the style apart from maybe the old fashioned romantic theme says much about me! lol - i tjust thought it was a beautiful place to hold a wedding! xxx
I married the love of my life 23/06/2012
Our little boys are so cute!
I would say that is true as my country house used to be a mental hospital at one time once the family sold the land! There used to be lovely ornate carvings on the big staircase but they had to be cut off as two patients bashed their heads on them until they died. There has been a few murders there too and it was the first place outside of London that had a court room in which it could sentence people to death. I love reading up on the history of the place. There is also said to be a ghost of a girl who was killed by her own father after he set up man traps to capture her secret lover but she got caught in it sneaking out to him.

i went for a hotel thats painted in red and creams with dark brown furnishing, so i guess it's a little grand of sorts (complete opposite to me) but they do say opposites attract :)
Does it count that i really chose the venue for one reason - easy for everyone to have a good time with no moving about lol xox

Okay actually just looked up the history of my venue, and it was commissioned originally by Edward I, continued by Edward the Black Prince and completed by Richard II, all of whom are in my family tree! Cool! I wonder if there is a discount for family ;p

Mines a medieviel 13 centrey castle in Scotland ,And my reception is in a victian manor house. I think it reflects the dream of always being a princess and feeling special also the grand life style it represents , somthing il never have in real life .
CommentAuthorMrsMac2B
I didn't really get much say in my venue, but if I had have got my own way we would have had vaults, ceremony by candle light... proper medieval :D now that would reflect who I would want to be! I'm a teeny tiny bit obsessed by anything and everything from the middle ages! Pity my H2B and my mum hated it, along with the smell and the cobwebs x

Mine is a village hall so not sure if its relection on me, alothoug i do love village life and I was brought up in this village. I wouldnt be having my reception there though if i had more money.
I am now Mrs Stacey Stiles and loving it!
CommentAuthorHappilymarried Mrs G
Im not sure, i suppose the choice could be said to say a lot about a couple. Our venue is a village hall, it met all our requirements though, out of the way, own car park, space outside for hog roast / smokers / marquee etc...

We're getting married at a hotel which used to be a country house and then a school. I'd hate to think what that means about me! We chose it as it's pretty, central to the majority of people coming and it's got enough accomodation. xx

Mines a converted barn................hmmmmmmmm? lol

My venue was first built in 1505, but has been redone a few times over the years. There is a massive ancient cedar tree known locally as the ‘Loving Tree’ and it is said to bring good luck if young couples plight their troth underneath the branches. The tree was planted by Duncan Forbes (who was born at Bunchrew) just before the Jacobite uprising in 1745. (Battle of Culloden)
Bet best of all its Pink and has turrets!!! And its right on the waters edge on the coast.
So i think it does suit me very well, I love being near the sea, I love all the spiritual mystery and history surrounding it and the fact that its pink makes it a little fairytale castle. So yes, very me!!
I don’t repeat gossip so listen very carefully!!

my venue used to be a hunting lodge but in 1702 it was inherited to the then earl of derby and changed in to a large house and has been in the family since then ... it is known as the grandest hall of all .. 30 meter high doors in to the dining room , carved wood, gothis huge fireplaces, sprung dance floors... very my fair lady ...
i think mine is a true reflection of me as i when i was young i wanted to marry a prince and live in a big mannor house like cinderella... and ive got that well on my wedding day anyways so for 1 day all my dreams of a girl will come true!!

Hmmm... we're having our reception in a hotel that doesn't look like much on the outside but is really welcoming and comfortable on the inside... not sure if I like that as a reflection - I want to be pretty on the outside lol :P
Our church is now the town Minster, and is quite grand... and has a world famous organ as well apparently (don't personally know much about organs myself)... maybe I could mix the two... old, grand and beautiful, but welcoming and comfortable - much better :P
Now, finally, Mrs Riley
I hope you don't mind that I put down in words

I would say our cermony venue is a reflection of me as I love flowers and trees etc. and I love all things oriental, and the gardens where we are getting married have a Japanese garden which I can't wait to have photographs of us in. But the reception room is just a hall we are hiring, purely because we can decorate it how we please. If money were no object it would probably be a French chateau as we both love the architecture in many of them with all the beautiful gardens. x
Finally reunited with the love of my life
Never to part again
This Saturday I will finally be Mrs Codling!

is soooo happy and lucky

Our venue is the world's first purpose built race track, and was used for making plane during WW2. We chose it beccuase we are both petrol heads and he's a bit of a plane freak too. So yes, I'd say it refects our personalities.

Well not sure if my wedding co-ordinator is always right about a venue being a true reflection of the bride, I think sometimes its just as much to do with finances. However if I were a wedding co-ordinator I probably woudnt say that to clients as it doesnt sounds as good!
One thing tho, its fascinationg reading some of the desriptions of your venues. Theres some v lucky women on here! xxx

Our ceremony venue is the town hall, the only grade 1 listed building in the city and where my parents and grandparents got married - I guess it reflects my desire for grandeur and tradition :)
Our reception venue is my aunt's 400 year old farm house and converted barn - cosy, homely and very individual - I think it suits us perfectly :)

H2b and I were only talking tuther night about how much our wedding reflects us. His family in particular don't really see much of us and he is excited for them to see the real us, and not just the visiting the family us. We love all things vintage and fashion and a bit mis matched, our quaint country house venue with huge tree in the garden and llamas and horses in the fields. Xxx
CommentAuthorSuzie Bear
Ours is a regular hotel. Looks ok on outside but nice and new and modern on the inside. Ultimately we needed big and affordable. Used to be a former nightclub in the 1990's. Not a reflection of us. x
is Mrs Suzie Bear!!!!
Gotta be pink!!! :0)
I think I blinked and missed our wedding!! lol
