I am i am so tired of it all. Go to work a place i used to love going until 3 weeks ago when a lot of stuff happened. Work in a care home for guys with hallenging behaviour and one of the guys there said that i pushed him. I didnt but got suspended anyway. Went back two weeks later having had it cleared and for him to say it was a lie. Went in on Wednesday last week as my first day back go into town with the guys and one slips in the rain so i go to catch him. I go one way my leg goes the other. I have had loads of operations in the past because i had an accident when i was 17. The doctors put metal work in to fix it but i am allergic to metal of any kind. So i had another one to get it out. Then had MRSA. So my leg is pretty much F**KED.
Last few days my leg has been hurting more then normal but i put it down to cold and the slip i had on wednesday last week. Manager came into day and sent me home because i was limping and was putting myself and the guys in danger if anything happened. I completely understand that so went home. On the way home she rang and said did i mind going to the hospital to have it check so i did. had the xray and the doctor showed me the pictures and they have mad a coplete c*ck up. They have left some of the metal in my leg and now the doctor at the hospital wants me to go see my gp to ask him to refer me back to my old doctor i had when i hurt mt leg to do another operation to take the metal out that shouldnt be there.
Came home and told martyn and i told him i dont want another operation when i have had 25 already you think they would have sorted it. He said i had to and i know he is right it is just the fact of having it done. There is always going to be the risk i could have mrsa again and then i have the option to have my leg taken off. (was givin that one when i was 17 and still can choose it whenever i like) I wont though as i cant see myself been happy with that. Just wish it didnt always happen when things are going right for me. Just so tired from it all.
Oh but i did get my engagment ring yesterday it is beatiful. Cant wear it though as it is to small and have to bring it back in to weeks time to get a bigger one then the bigger one has to be resized and that will take 3 weeks.
Any one want to swap lives for a day or two.
Sorry about the long rant

Go to your doc and ask to see an orthotist.... they may be able to help.
If not you need referring back to orthopaedics to try and sort it out.

I just had a though.... if they "left" metal in your leg you should be looking at a law suit.
When a surgucal procedure is undertaken, every single piece is counted in - and doubly checked, and every single piece is counted out....and doubly checked again. Its recorded in your medical notes - it has to be..... BY LAW
Then - they should have called you back in a few weeks to take an x-ray of the leg to assess how its healing - the orthopods should have seen to that. Its not common practice to take pins out of a bone and not follow it up, so it would have been picked up n the x-ray.
I think you got a case for a LOT of money in compensation.......

Goff is absolutely right hun, I work for a radiologist and we get these follow up scans as routine for anyone who's had any sort of surgical procedure. This should not have been missed, and is a huge medico-legal case....particularly if it went so far that you contracted MRSA again and/or lost your leg.

Goff i thought they had it all out as that is what i was told. I never questioned it as i got on so well with my doctor that done all my operations i just took his word for it when i went for the check up and told me it is all out. I am going to see my gp on monday i hope and see when i can get refered back to my old doctor and see what happened and why it is still in there when ihad it taken out,

when glenn was alot younger he had a bike accident and broke his collerbone and shoulder,it was pinned back in place and glenn remembers them telling him how many pins went in ,they showed him on his medical records and the little numbers next to them, plus he had to go for follow up x-rays,when it was removed there were no problems apart from hes lost some muscle and his left side sinks compared to his right, but it doesnt bother him.i think you defo need to ask questions here, mistakes have been made

They should still have picked up the metal... it shows up quite clearly on x-rays and even if you had one that wasnt that clear... the others would have shown it. Ask questions about it, cos thats definately not right.
It sounds like you been at a 3rd world hospital!

CommentAuthorGoff
If i were you i would not be seeing the doctor you saw in the beginning...... NOT A CHANCE
You say you trusted him...... yet he was the one who told you the metal was all out of your leg???
Why on earth would you want to go within 10 feet of this doctor??
