I have just spoken with a salon regarding Wedding hair for the following:

1 Bride- Trial & on the day
4 Bridesmaids- 1 to have a Trial, all to have hair done on the day
    2 Flowergirls- on the day
H2B Mum- has short hair so only a blow dry on the day
My Mum- Trial & on the day

The package price was quoted at £359.95, which I though was quite reasonable, however the lady went on to say that because it was a Sunday, and to cover staff wages, petrol, travel etc the package price was..................

    £730.70!!!!!

Is it just me or does this seem like a massive increase (I thought that the charge per person for hair would cover the staff for wages??)
Its not like they are traveling a long distance, our venue is only about 10 miles away from the salon.

I have asked what the price would be if we was to travel to the salon, I am waiting back on a response.

    xx

That's ridiculous! You should be paying about £130 for you including trial about £200 for bridesmaids including trial for 1 about £30 for flower girls about £80 for your mum and about £30 for your mil2b
I'm a qualified hairdresser so over £700 is a pee take!!

That is ridiculous , your right! Staff etc cist shoul be included in the price an mosr places cover travel costs upto 20/40 miles from base tman then its only like 40p per mile.

I am glad its not just me that thinks its ridiculous, the individual price breakdown is:

Bride- Trial & on day £95
    1 Bridesmaid- Trial & on day £65
3 bridesmaid- On day £30 each (total £90)
    2 flower girls- £10 each (total £20)
    H2B Mum- blow-dry on day £24.95
My Mum- Trial & on day £65

    Which is £359.95,

I cant honestly believe they want another £370.75 for it being on a Sunday, Traveling to venue & Staff costs (2 hairstylists)

I think its safe to say that I'll keep looking, although I am interested in what the price will be if we went to the hairdressers.

With our wedding being on a Sunday, does it warrant a higher cost than it being on a Saturday or actually any other day of the week? we never took it into consideration when choosing our date

    xx

Most salons arnt open Sundays so it's not like they'll be losing clients and want to make their money up
They won't have any and the price should include their wages travel costs and even products!
    What area are you?
If plain blank ring other salons now, with it being a Sunday there will be more people willing to go mobile n be glad of the extra cash n wing charge you a lot either xx

I never thought of it your way katielea, its true there not loosing customers but gaining custom on a day they wouldn't usually be making any money... I think they was just trying there luck..

I was more than happy with the 350 price,

Katielea as a hairdressers how long would it take to do everyone? I have no idea on times. But was surprised when she said with two senior hairdressers it would take 5 and a half hours x

It would take around 30/45 mins per person apart from your mil2b and flower girls as it's a short blow then about 15 mins same for flower girls
So would probs be near 5&1/2 for one person but not 2!
Does depend how complex your styles are though Xx

I didn't give any indication on what hairstyles, as I haven't thought about it yet lol I haven't got my dress or the bridesmaid dresses still have a long time to go so not panicking too much.

It just seems when you do go along to wedding fares that hairdressers/stylists are hard to come by

I may just ring around local salons/hairdressers

id ask them for a breakdown of the extra. you'll prob find they have to pay the staff double for overtime, or something but its definitely not fair! Mine is on a sunday also, I have a mobile hairdresser who is doing mine and 4 bridesmaids for £200. xx

it seems like a lot, but I suspect the price hike would because it's not heir normal day for working. Yes, it's expensive and perhaps you should try to get their prices down, but something to consider from their point of view, is, would you want to work on your day off if it wasn't worth your while?
so look around for someone who doesn't consider sunday to be a regular 'day off'

It is a bit pricey, they should have given you a complete total not a breakdown and then add on the extra.

I would keep trying I'm sure there is someone who would be grateful of the extra cash on their day off

Try finding separate hair and make up it will be cheaper I know its hard getting someone on a Sunday but try asking local hair dressers, and the venue might have people they can recommend

Cannot even believe how much they're charging. My hair and make up ladies (although friends) are independent, hairdresser works for a salon but majority of salons are closed Sunday and Monday (struggling to find somewhere to do me a set of shellac in the morning, grr). I think the most my hairdresser would charge for hair up is £40 and hair down £20. She certainly wouldn't charge for Sundays, h2b has been round for a haircut today! Look for independent people who will be more great full of your custom x

That is ridiculous hun, I'm getting married on a Sunday and its a bank holiday. Everyone I've spoken with and the lovely people that I have booked with don't charge any extra for it being a Sunday, and that is them coming out to us. I've chosen independent people rather than a salon but even the salons i spoke to didnt charge anything more than they would on a saturday.

I'd look for someone else, it sounds like they don't want your business. You want to be happy and relaxed on the day!

That is absolutely laughable! The word 'wedding' has worked it's magic again lol! I'd ask her where she's picked her figures from and ask if it's in Chinese yen not pounds lol!
My hairdressers only charging £150 for me,moh,3bridesmaids and 3 flowergirls and that includes trials, and she works at a boutique hairdressers where she's a senior stylist charging around £130 for a cut and colour normally... She did say she'd have a holiday day that day so the earnings are just hers but she's only charging £150 plus £20 for travel!

Have found a lovely lady who I have provisionally booked for our hair.

    For:
Bride trial and on the day
4 bridesmaid on the day and one trial
Mob trial and on the day
    Mog on the day

It is 320 plus 7 pound petrol as we are just outside her inclusive mileage. She also doesn't charge any extra because it's a bank holiday Sunday which is a bonus.

We have the dat booked and will pay deposit and confirm in November as she likes to get this year's brides/bookings done before taking any money for next year.

She also has a lady which does the airbrush makeup, and has worked for Mac/este lauded in the past.
Does 30 for trial and 50 on the day sound reasonable?

    X
