We looked around a local hotel today and the price for arrival drinks, a 3 course sit down meal, 3 wines, drink for toast, for 60 adults and evening room and buffet for 120 people total just under £6000. The wedding in July on Saturday. Is this a normal price? I've been to 2 other places but they were even more around £9000 fore bits included in this one. I will look at few others if I can find them as curious and got a while yet buts wondered if this would be a normal price? Some people say that it's alot others say that it's good and I have no idea x
CommentAuthorInDreamland
Sounds good to me for mid-summer on a Saturday for the number of people you quote. What else is included? Cake stand and knife for example? xx

That's loads better than any quotes I've had in Surrey for 100 people! Well done. Is it a nice place?
if you're not sure, get quotes from other places in the area and compare. Most will do an indicative quote online or over the phone. Remember when you ask other people that different parts of the country have different average prices. I know we're paying a premium being in Surrey, as with everything flippin else!! Being a Devon girm, I'm not used to these London prices! Grrr.

I would say no personally. I have got a barn/marquee and all grounds of an old farmhouse, the same as your package, plus toastmaster and centrepieces, cake knife and stand, and table linen, and bride and grooms room for the wedding night. Ours is for 100 people day and 150 people evening and it's just over £4,500 and I am marrying on a Saturday in August xxx
Got together 14.02.2008
Got engaged 31.12.2010
Will become a Mrs on 30.08.2014 xxxxxx

That's just a bit more than ours (although Sat in June it was same price for whole summer) Ours would work out about 5100 with your numbers - but doesn not include ceremony , DJ, chair covers but does include room for the night, cake stand, knife. I'll put a link on your wall as they are a national chain and may be worth you looking at what they have close to you
Depends where your based hun. Where I am there are a lot if package deals so all hotels need to compete.
CommentAuthorMrsH-2B
For every other venue we've looked at bar the one we've booked you have a fantastic price there.. For ours we get loads of stuff for a really cheap rate, but all the others we'd have got the same as you for £7000 ish xxx

oh it also includes a harpist for the ceremony

For a hotel package that sounds reasonable. Ours is £64 per head for full day guests, and an extra £15 per head (I think) for evening only guests. We get a similar thing to you; red carpet, arrival drinks, MC, wedding breakfast with unlimited wine, and evening buffet included for full day guests, with just the extra to pay for those coming later. We also get our room for the wedding night included, and a discount on accommodation for our guests, oh and a cake stand and knife. We worked out that with our guest list it comes to just under £9000, as young children are only about £12, and we have on guest who is tube fed and won't eat at all, so we've been told that we don't need to pay for her.
30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.
CommentAuthorJoanna
We had a hotel package but we made it as cheap as we could. Most of their packages were so much money per head but we said we only wanted a small wedding so they showed us another package they did that was £2000 overall for 40 day guests and 70 evening. Much better deal, so it may be worth cutting your guest list a bit and seeing what you could get?

I would say that's a good package and very normal, ours is more like £8000 but that's cos venue hire alone is £4500 then £3500 for food and drinks package for day and night x

'Average price' varies hugely depending on where you live, the type of venue you want, etc. I live 'down South', in Greater London, so our search area included some of the most expensive parts of the country: Berkshire/Buckinghamshire/London/Surrey. When I see what people from up North are paying, it makes me realise just how much more expensive things are down here.
We're getting married in Berkshire, and are paying £7050 for canapes, a 3 course wedding breakfast (with choice of 4 main courses), 2 glasses of buck's fizz, 1/2 bottle of wine, and a glass of champagne, for 59, and then an evening buffet catering for 75, as well as room hire. Hotel rooms, cake stand and knife, entertainment etc are all on top of this.

I have 70 day for 3 course meal with arrival drink, 2 glasses of wine and toast drink and 110 night guests, cake stand and knife, DJ and toast master and red carpet plus room for me and H2b for £5600 in June. My friend got married 3 years ago, less guests, no cake stand, no DJ or red carpet or toast master and they paid over £9000 for theirs. to me, yours sounds ok.

Thanks everyone for your comments, we're guna get few other estimates from some other hotels and decide what we want. Because its July wedding on sat we can't knock alot off as they'll be able to fill the space easily enough. I'm in Hampshire so think we're cheaper than London but more than up north. But don't hold me to that, I thought about a margquee but want the stress free of hotel as dont have to worry about people transporting one to the other and I know my little one ( or ones) are always within a range of me if that makes sense x
CommentAuthorNicoleee_x
InDreamland, my h2b was at Hunton Park today for a conference! and we're going there in the summer for his work summer ball, it looks gorgeous!! xxx our cheapest quote was £2300 and our most expensive so far has been £6000 !! we're only having 15 people!! the 2300 even included accommodation but it was in a little hotel which doesn't really 'do' weddings, hence the price. I'm being a bit of a snob about venue tho and have decided that I want to get married in a country house kinda venue which are all bloody expensive as their main income is weddings! We are viewing one next weekend which i am so in love with, on the phone the guy said the house hire alone was £3000 and then we need cost of catering on top of that so will prob be around £5,000. Expensive but if its "the venue" worth it i guess xx
CommentAuthorInDreamland
Thanks Nicolee.

Wow, I feel like I've got a good deal with mine!
We have, for forty two guests:
Ceromony room hire in the library Two reception drinks Selection of canapés Four course wedding breakfast Reception room hire All linen and cutlery Half a bottle of wine per guest Champagne to toast Master of ceremonies Bridal suite (we are having our evening reception elsewhere as the layout isn't ideal)
All for £2,600. It's a gorgeous regency style independently owned hotel, and we were expecting it to cost twice that! Xx
That said, I think a good deal is in the eye of the beholder - as much as budget allows, venues are something you just can't pick on price...we would have been happy to pay a lot more for this venue, which makes it seems like a fantastic bargain to us...we also went to one place where it would have been cheaper, but it was dingy, tatty and the food looked pants.

Prices vary so much, We have a Country house venue, and paying £5000 including the 8 rooms from Friday midday til Sunday midday, everything else is an additional cost! Best advice is to get as many quotes from the venues you love and see if you can haggle the price :-) x
