Hello All! New time user here. I have a question about a quote I was given and need to know what others think, is it a good deal?
Little bit of background: I am 43 and my wife to be is 38 years old. This is my first ever marriage and due to our ages, that fact that we have large families (brothers and wives, kids with kids and so on) as well as extended friend circles, our wedding party is currently at 150 guests. Now we are not rich people and the marriage is being done on a TIGHT budget. everything else aside, we have about £800.00 TOTAL to spend on wedding favours and food for the 150 guests. After discussing with my bride to be our options for the dinner, (ie; pizza and butties or even Mcdonalds happy meals for buffet. I know i know, my bride already tore me a new one for that suggestion!) we were thinking it was impossible. i called around for quotes and was getting answers between £1500.00-£3000.00! So we were thinking, well there goes any wedding favours and were even considering trying to cater the event ourselves and then i found a company that was offereing fudge wedding favour boxes. Has anyone ever seen this done? I went by there today and had a chat with the owner who said they can do the wedding favours for 80p per piece which includes 2 pieces of fudge in flavours we choose, box colour and design of our choice and a label with our names and wedding day on them. we will get a discount because the order was for 150 boxes. had a sample of the fudge. WOW! now the best part is as i was talking to the woman who runs it, she had a menu sitting on the table for a bbq catering company. she runs that too and was nice enough to show me what she is working on for another couple. turns out that she can outfit our wedding guests of 150 people with wedding favours and buffet style catering for just a skat over £600.00! We have been quoted for the dinner= £3.25 per head! Now this sounds really good to me and i am taking my lady there tomorrow to sample mroe fudge. YUM YUM
The menu she is offering has pulled pork butties (dont know but sounds good!), pork rice, chilli and rice, chicken rice, hotwings, macaroni and cheese, loaded potato skins and some other things. As well as we get to pick our choice of 4 different pies or cheese cake flavours to have too. From what the woman told me, (if allowed by premises) they can even bring the grill/bbq cooker on site. she showed me a pic of it and it is shaped like a gun!
It all sounds really cool and it is the best price I have found. our party is going to be out of the ordinary anyways, and we really just want a fun evening of celebration.
So I ask all of you: is £600.00 a good price for 150 guests with food and favours?

What a lucky find!!! My evening buffet is £11.00 per head so you have got an amazing bargain. The favours sound delicious too. When I started reading your post I though it would be impossible to feed and favour 150 guests on £800 but now I am gobsmacked because you can actually do it with plenty of change. I say go for it, see if they have any reviews or testimony's from previous customers for peace of mind but to be honest there's not alot that can go wrong with the dishes they've described. It's simple, tasty, filling, food. Good luck to you both.

That is a brilliant price!! Just a word of warning though, if you havent got the actual venue you are having yet, dont book it. Some venues will charge you for bringing in outside food and some will not allow it at all. So go and check that out before you comitt to anything! Also, welcome to the sight and congratulations to you and your w2b! xxx

That's a great price! If your venue allows outside caterers then go for it! Make sure you check Public Liability Insurance requirements and that your catering company has sufficient cover before booking though! xx
