My mum just came up with the idea of a hog roast at the reception instead of a buffet, it's got to be cheaper as a buffet is going to cost at least £500-600. Has anyone else looked into this or had this for their reception? I think it's a great idea if the venue will allow it. thoughts please :)

We are having a hog roast, it's £525 for 100ish people. Then we are just doing a few bits to go with it. Soo, not that much cheaper than ur buffet, unless u can find Hog for cheaper than that. Although I found loads that were going for around £1000 so this was a bargain. X

My mum says her local farm shop butchers do them so she's going to do a bit of researching into it. Think it seems pretty cool to me. then would just need a veggie option for about 10 people.

We are doing a mixed spit roast - half a hog, chickens and lamb so all tastes are satified. It also includes baps, salads and sides - all for about £12 per head. Just a hog roast would have been a tad cheaper.
I LOVE hogroast, we never wanted a sit down meal. Unfortunately the majority of my and h2bs sisters really dislikes pork hence the mixed meat. :-)
It’s so great to find that one special person
you want to annoy for the rest of your life....
Cool, just check with your venue if they still charge you on top for any service staff, bar etc, as when you add that up with the hog roast it may not be that much cheaper than a package etc :-)
