I know im being more than just a little bit daft but i need to get this off my chest- and im prepared for some telling off here.

so me and OH have been engaged for about 1 month now and in said time everyone seems to have gotten engaged!!!

My auntie (who has cut herself off from the family other than to keep telling me this) is now planning on getting married the year before me to a bloke none of us have met but i have to put on my guest list anyway because i know she definitely wont come unless he is invited. She hasnt even been with him for very long but she now regularly messages me saying she is excited to be getting married and how i shouldnt copy anything from hers- she hasnt even got a venue thought of and i have everything down to my flaming nail polish colour decided!!

Also my mum keeps going on about a girl, who i used to be really close to until she got involved in some really bad stuff, who is getting married the year after me and she is having an engagement party (at the place i had wanted to have an engagement party at but i cant even afford an engagement party) and how her wedding will be so amazing etc etc

A lot of my friends have recently gotten engaged and its frustrating me because they either seem to be doing nothing now but still telling me i cant have anything they MIGHT want- i repeat MIGHT!!!- or they are doing loads telling me they cant tell me wedding details because i might steal it but i have to tell them every tiny detail i have already written down in my little book, to the point that one- who im not speaking to atm- tried to get my book out of my bag so she could peak at everything.

Personally i dont care if they have the same as me so i share my ideas freely, she seemed to assume i was lying so she wouldnt know my ideas, if she had asked for the book i would have given it to her happily but im so annoyed she tried to take it out my bag without me knowing.

The last bit im sure you can understand angered me, the rest im pretty sure i should get over, but the category says wedding related rants- it doesnt specify that they need to be well-grounded or even make sense :P

I think it only seems that way. It's like when women think about getting pregnant and the see babies everywhere. It's on your mind so you notice more than you normally would.
That said it's your day. People can give you all the advice they want to but you don't have to listen to it. As for your idea book, I wonder why she is so interested?

Tell them all to get over it, you have your ideas and you stick to them.

I know what you mean about it happening all at one go... we had 12 weddings to go last year alone, and then none this year! And so far just ours next year! X

If your organising a wedding you may just be more aware of other people who are doing the same. If others are getting married they may also be more aware of others who are getting married (ie you) and are just excited and eager to talk to someone who they assume is in the same situation as them. X

I know im probably just noticing it more, which is why i said i know i should just get over it. As for all the advice and other stuff i have been just ignoring them, i mean i havent hidden many details of the wedding, only things i have kept secret are the ones i want to be a surprise for H2B and some of the guests, and those are details that only those specific people will recognise on the day.
I was outraged by the girl going in my bag, especially considering that when i got angry she said she knew i was stealing ideas from her, with that i proceeded to show her everything in my book and then told her i hope she has fun being friends with her suspicious nature because a friend of mine wouldnt accuse me of that, fair enough i have gotten some ideas from the ladies on here, but thats simply because i hadnt heard of it before, and at that i will obviously do my own take on it etc i would personally be flattered if someone used my ideas not angry. x

We're 26/27. So, yes, I've noticed this because us and our friends are now at the age where people start thinking about engagement and marriage.

We got engaged Feb 2011 and are getting married August next year. Since we've got engaged, quite a few people I know have got engaged/married. It doesn't bother me TBH.

Yeah I could see how that could be frustrating but as you seem to have everything planned; they don't need to worry about you 'stealing their plans' which I'm sure you wouldn't anyway as it is your wedding and you will have it how you want it to be :)

A wedding can be styled the same and have all the exact same decoration but its the couple that makes it different anyway ':)' xx

Ahhhh so im really not the only one, im happy for them getting engaged but with some it wasnt even on the horizon a month or so ago and now they are acting like they simply couldnt wait even another day without being married, at least with me all my family and friends knew we would eventually get hitched and that i wouldnt faff about once i got started on the planning. 1, nearly 2, months and everything is set in my head, i dont want to change anything etc, the little details are slowly coming together, all i need to do is pay for everything- i like to have an idea in my head what im saving for as it helps me manage my money better, the only true question mark for the day is what dress i will be wearing :P x

I know what you mean, but out of everyone of my friends who are engaged I seem to be the only one who took mine seriously (i.e. actually planning the thing!). One of my friends is getting married in Spring or Summer next year and hasn't sorted a venue out yet. Everyone's saying how they won't be nervous closer to the time and how they won't feel the stress.... I told them to wait ;)

I think weddings bring out the worst in people x

Ana everyone she seems to go off on one it causes way too many arguements especially if friends are planning at the same time x

Happy it just seems to be the word `wedding` triggers something in some people and sends them nuts lol x

Happy my mams a fruit loop and showed her true colours to everyone at my dads funeral, shes the type of person who would deliberately try spoil things so she had all the attention x

So far your the 3rd one ive spoke to with it spelt the same way hun lol I was named after my dad Brian lol theres a few we havnt told and when we go to Mexico theres only my son coming off my side the rest are oh family purely because mine are the type they only do something if they are getting something in return. My dad had 5 sisters and when he was in hospital 2 never went 1 of them went twice the other a couple of times and 1 he didnt speak to for over 30 yr anyway. His funeral none of them helped plan or pay for it as it was all left to me not even an offer of a fiver so I thought stuff them why should I pay to stuff their faces lol x

I just want to ban one person as I know she'll not even smile on the day lol xx

Very tempted lol her fella is best man though and daughter bridesmaid and then my daughter is bridesmaid at her wedding. .... xx

Yup. Two weddings this year, and three of us engaged within a few months of each other....and I am sure there will be more to follow. All of our friends have been in relationships for a very long time (we've been together almost 12 years!); it just took one of the guys to pluck up the courage to propose then they all followed suit! :)
