ok, so we have been engaged for 2 1/2 years! we are not getting wed until august next year but we didnt have an engagement party and we both wanted one. when the time comes closer, we were thinking of having a rehearsal dinner ( well.....a meal with the family ) because our parents have never met! the situation is this.....my mum n craigs dad have met but didnt think that much of each other, my sister and craigs mum have had words a while ago but it will cause tension.....they have never met my dad because my mum and dad are no longer together! so rather than do it formally, would it be too late to have an engagement party? only to make it less formal! x

No, it's not too late at all, you still have nearly a year and a half to go, so why not have a bbq/engagement party or something this summer?

not at all too late - and if having a party is going to be less stressful than a sit down meal - which it sounds as if it would - then do it!!

Never too late to celebrate - oooh, that rhymes!
No, seriously, I think it's a great excuse to get everyone together - at the very least it should help calm nerves about the past goings-on and the possible tension on your big day. x

some ppl choose a get to gether in the middle as it can be a long time before some ppl get married. We had an engagement party but are still thinking of throwing an event the exact yr before to keep ppl informed as to what is going on and keeps ppl mingling so its less awkward for the guests when they are all stuck in a room together.

cant wait to be Mrs Evans less than 3 weeks woooo

Thats what I am doing, having an informal BBQ type thing around a year to the day before the wedding, not that either set of family or friends has really shown much interest in meeting eachother but never mind! lol.

You don't need an excuse to throw a party. Go for it and clear the air before the big day.

Completely agree, it's never to late to throw a party. We are having ours engagement party in the summer this year and we have been prepping for this wedding forever. Is gonna be giant tea party with cake, sandwiches and bunting and purty dresses and silly garden games (am even letting the kids come lmao). So go for it if you want to hun
