    hi b2b

im planning on getting married on 20th september 2013. i was just wondering am i being silly by thinking of looking at dresses and venues and everything else so early?

we've planned it to be so far away so i can slim down into my dress as i had a baby boy 4 months ago and still got alot of baby weight to loose!!

    thanks in advance xxx

I don't think it hurts to look and get an idea, but I would be wary of buying a dress until I was close to the size I wanted to get to and styles change quite often in the shops. There's also no harm looking at venues, but you can't usually book a registrar until a year before the wedding. I booked mine when I had 15 months to go, and even though the deposit is a non refundable non transferrable deposit they did say that if there was a problem with the registrar then that is the only reason they'd change it.

Yeah, on the basis of what RachyW2B said, just have a think of what colours you want, dress styles, venues - everything, and make a book of it all, start buying the magazines and checking out useful wedsites, but you've made the first step - joining ukbride! lol x

No harm in research and finding a venue, but I wouldn't start looking for other suppliers until two years before, and the dress a year before. Also wedding insurance is only for a max of two years (that I've seen anyway).

not early at all, but be careful of buying dresses as yr taste and style may change and if your planning to lose weight a different stlye may suit yr new body shape better! :)

i am hopefully getting married in june 2013! we are looking for a venue at the moment. advantage of looking now is that alot of venues with hold some of their fees at 2012 prices! i wont be looking at dresses until, earliest next year. good luck xxx

Also dresses go out of season so it could be the dress you like now gets discontinued or the shop stops doing the samples of that dress for you to try on. Its never to early to start looking but remember when doing your budget to add on at least 10% of this years prices for extra VAT and general yearly price increases. If you can find a venue that will let you book in advance at this years prices then that would be a bonus but like others have said you can't get insurance until two years before.

I thought I was getting carried away planning things already when the wedding isn't until June 2012, it's never too soon and if you buy things as you go along it spreads the cost out too!

Hi we have not actually booked a date for our wedding yet but looking at june 2012 hopefully will pay deposit and have date set within next couple of weeks but i have already found my dress!! Im paying for it monthly and absolutly love it but do get that slight worry as what if they discontinue it before i need it! they said they would still be able to get it for me and order the current size needed and just alter it if need be but still a bit of a worry as you hear lots of horror stories!

I have also been buying bits from the famous auction site as money is tight so getting bits here and there is really helping to spread the cost and also means you have plenty of time to shop around :) happy planning x

I am not due to get married until 2014 so I wouldn't worry about planning too early!I always feel silly when I start to look seriously at things but the wedding dresses I like at the moment will have definitely gone out of stock by the time I get married. Am just gathering up information and hopefully looking to book the venue next year as I'd like to get the date for sure!

hey I too keep looking at things and thinking the same... lol planning on August 2013 so we can save up, my mother in law to be was telling me last week that she bought her wedding dress two years before her wedding!
I've just been looking for ideas and getting ideas of prices for our budgets, I've already found cheaper and nicer cars, and two cheapish photographers in my area, that's why I love this site cos my scrapbook is holding them all safe for me :D YAY! Good luck with all your planning xx

I agree with the others. It is never too early! I was planning my wedding before it was even booked!
Beware though, buy things slowly and steadily. I was a little hasty and have bought almost everything I need, so for the next year I have nothing to do other than wait. I spoilt it for myself to be honest.
    Have fun xx
