Hi emma im not getting married till 2015 aswell and ive started planning already, ive got my venue booked, videographer, photographer, chair dresser and white doves all already booked, and cant wait to book more just waiting to have the money to pay deposits, its never too early too book things, just a word of warning tho some ppl are a bit dubious about you looking around too early and make you feel a bit intimidated when you tell them when your wedding is especially dress shops. xx

It's never to early, just think the more time you give yourself the more time you get on getting everything you want and you can look out for all those bargains.

This sounds like me. Im planning to get married in 2014. I was wondering if it was to early to start planning also!! But i guess everybody is right and it gives you chance to save up and put deposits down on things :) How exciting!! xxx

Defiantly not! Some suppliers and venues are booked up to 3 years in advance! so go for it! The only thing to bare in mind if your buying dresses that sizes may change xx

Emma - i think it depends how definite you are about what you want . I'm always changing my mind about things so it would have been a mistake for me to start that early - i have 9 months to go and have done only the venue, rings and dress - I have an idea of what I want for the rest but still not totally defo. You'll have to decide for yourself whether you'd be likely to change your mind or not - if not - go for it - things only get more expensive year on year! xx

Oh, but be aware that some wedding insurers won't insure you that far ahead. x

If you are a very organised person then personally I would say book the big things (venue, church?, photographer) and then leave the rest for a while. I am marrying in 2014 and have these bits booked, and as I am quite organised it is frustrating me that there isn't much else I can do at the moment (both because of the amount of time left and money) and it gets me quite down at times too. But at the end of the day it is all down to the individual. If you can switch out of wedding mode easily then go for it, but if you are like me and can't then wait a while. I wish I had waited until at least 18 months before to start planning mine xxx

I'm not getting married til 2016 and looking at booking things now as it takes little stress off, gives us longer to save up as we know what we gotta save and things like photography we'll get now prices rather than the higher prices then x

I'm also getting married in 2015, and we have already started planning, the idea was to wait a year, save our bums off and start then - but I was too excited and started straight away. The only thing I am worried about is that fashions will change and it will end up looking dated

We got engaged Feb 2011, and set a date for August 2014. In Feb and March we went venue-hunting, and booked our venue in April 2011. I bought my shoes that summer, and my dress that winter.
We are looking to book our cake and photographer in February 2013, and have been researching photographers for 6 months now (!).
IMO it isn't too early, esp as you can sometimes get venues to fix their prices (meaning you can save quite a lot of money). But, I would suggest paying any deposits by credit card, and check the small print on wedding insurance policies; we found the cheaper ones didn't cover you for monies already paid out, and no policy I found would ensure you more than 2 years before the date. Paying by credit card affords you some protection should anything go wrong with the venue.
