definitely! Our budget is 5k - the venue/food and photography is taking up most of ours, but we're happy to cut costs on other things, so it works out quite nicely. I think it's best to work out what's more important to you and what you're happy to spend more and/or les on and go from there. Many people do it for much less, so 7k is very do-able!

Depends on the venue. We had to pay an initial deposit of £250 (half of the actual venue price) and then in September this year we have to pay 50% of the overall cost (food/drinks reception) then 2 months before we get married (June 2012) we have to pay the rest .

Well we are getting married late on ish (3pm) so we're having a more posh buffet for our main 60 guests @ £12.95 per head. We're having pitchers of lager for the men @ £3.50 each and then champagne with strawberries for the ladies @ £4.50 per head. We're going to buy bottles of wine over the bar for toasts/speeches after the buffet so it will cost less than to pay for glass of bubbly for each guest. Then in the evening we're adding a basic buffet for 50 additional guests @ £9.95 per head. Overall for our ceremony and food etc its £2500

Some hotels do packages in which you can do it all for £999! 7k is a massive budget and you can certainly get everything for that. Just make sure that you shop about and don't blow everything on one thing. Before you book anything or spend a penny sit and work out just what you want for the day and how many people you want there. Then ring suppliers to get rough quotes and total everything up. If it comes within budget then great. If not look for someone cheaper or knock something less important off. I've given you some of the prices we paid to give you an idea of what we paid but you can add things or take things off them.

    registar fees £318.50
    wedding cert £3.50

Our venue was the most but we are having a country house and also that includes a full drinks package with reception drinks, two glasses of wine with dinner, a three course meal, tea coffee and chocs, evening buffet, flowers for the venue, room for the night, Dj, canapes etc so you could get that a lot cheaper etc. It also inclues a 10 night honeymoon to Italy. We only have 2 bridesmaids but I got them made to measure by a local dress maker and the flowergirl from ebay. The suits are being paid for by the in laws although my h2b is buying his and the little boys. I didn't put in the price of invites etc but we are making them ourselves and the whole things cost me about £30 to make including place cards etc. I also didn't put in things like my shoes, veil etc or favours as I haven't added them to the budget the h2b sees. Oopsie.

3 to 4 grand some of them are looking for and between 35 to 50 a head for the meal

so we are currantly looking for a nice venue with a slighly lower price tag lol

so if anyone knows any where in the inverness area with decent prices with a nice venue please dont hesitate to contact me lol all help is welcome xx

Why don't you get a list of venues from the local registry office? They will tell you all of the places you can get married at and then you can work through the list. Either that or go for a registry office or church wedding so it opens up the choices to you for the evening venues.

It depends on the church and depends on the venue. Some venues charge you extra for the room hire then you have to pay extra for the registry fees but then churches charge different rates from the set legal fees for things like bells, organ etc. Work out the costs both ways and see which works out cheaper or gives you what you want.

Also tell people when you book that its slightly over your budget and ask them if there is anything they can do to cut it down for you? Some of them will either knock some off or offer you something else instead. If they say no you can always go back and say aunt Beryl gave you some towards it etc.

have you looked at the waterside?? they do VERY reasonable weddings, and their full menu and price list is available to download so you can chose all the options you would want and get a prettye exact price. And they have an ace lighting system that can turn the whole room pink, or look like a twinkly star filled night sky. Worth a look!

or Kincraig up near Tain. beautiful!! (I found this one after we had booked ours). Costed out at £3800 for dinner for 50 and reception for 100!!
