omg yes!!!! our budget is 5k too and thats inc the venue which comes in at just over 3k. i am gonna have to budget my bum off and look for the bargains but i plan on having a beautiful wedding and a bloomin good time after!!! lol so if we can do it on 5k you most def can do it on 7k!!!!!! just hunt around for the bargains, dont buy the first thing you see as more likely than not the bay of e will have it cheap as chips!! xx
Yeah you certainly can, we are doing ours for hopefully less then that, but we are not having a video. DIY as much as you can and really shop around for good deals x
I am now Mrs Stacey Stiles and loving it!
CommentAuthorjoey86
definitely! Our budget is 5k - the venue/food and photography is taking up most of ours, but we're happy to cut costs on other things, so it works out quite nicely. I think it's best to work out what's more important to you and what you're happy to spend more and/or les on and go from there. Many people do it for much less, so 7k is very do-able!
CommentAuthorjrs921
thats great everyone that taken some of the pressure of i can now relax about about cost and start thinking on just planning the wedding now
thanks again everyone much appreciated

Thats about our budget for wedding AND honeymoon, about 50% of budget on each! And thats with a proper venue, photographer, 2 wedding cars, professional cake and all the trimmings.... it is possible!
CommentAuthorspider05
Depends on the venue. We had to pay an initial deposit of £250 (half of the actual venue price) and then in September this year we have to pay 50% of the overall cost (food/drinks reception) then 2 months before we get married (June 2012) we have to pay the rest .
CommentAuthorjrs921
emsy5000 do you mean dont have a buffet in the evening
we are looking at about 80 sit down meal n an addition 70 in the evening we are looking at between 6 and 7 000 just for the wedding and all trimming no honeymoon thats seperate xx

Well we are getting married late on ish (3pm) so we're having a more posh buffet for our main 60 guests @ £12.95 per head. We're having pitchers of lager for the men @ £3.50 each and then champagne with strawberries for the ladies @ £4.50 per head. We're going to buy bottles of wine over the bar for toasts/speeches after the buffet so it will cost less than to pay for glass of bubbly for each guest. Then in the evening we're adding a basic buffet for 50 additional guests @ £9.95 per head. Overall for our ceremony and food etc its £2500

Some hotels do packages in which you can do it all for £999! 7k is a massive budget and you can certainly get everything for that. Just make sure that you shop about and don't blow everything on one thing. Before you book anything or spend a penny sit and work out just what you want for the day and how many people you want there. Then ring suppliers to get rough quotes and total everything up. If it comes within budget then great. If not look for someone cheaper or knock something less important off. I've given you some of the prices we paid to give you an idea of what we paid but you can add things or take things off them.

Our venue was the most but we are having a country house and also that includes a full drinks package with reception drinks, two glasses of wine with dinner, a three course meal, tea coffee and chocs, evening buffet, flowers for the venue, room for the night, Dj, canapes etc so you could get that a lot cheaper etc. It also inclues a 10 night honeymoon to Italy. We only have 2 bridesmaids but I got them made to measure by a local dress maker and the flowergirl from ebay. The suits are being paid for by the in laws although my h2b is buying his and the little boys. I didn't put in the price of invites etc but we are making them ourselves and the whole things cost me about £30 to make including place cards etc. I also didn't put in things like my shoes, veil etc or favours as I haven't added them to the budget the h2b sees. Oopsie.
CommentAuthorXLittleMissMe!X
Oh and the evening entertainment is a live swing singer. You can get DJ's cheaper.
CommentAuthorjrs921
excellent xjox we are having our venue in the north of scotland and the price is slightly higher as there aint alot of compition up there.
3 to 4 grand some of them are looking for and between 35 to 50 a head for the meal
so we are currantly looking for a nice venue with a slighly lower price tag lol
so if anyone knows any where in the inverness area with decent prices with a nice venue please dont hesitate to contact me lol all help is welcome xx

Why don't you get a list of venues from the local registry office? They will tell you all of the places you can get married at and then you can work through the list. Either that or go for a registry office or church wedding so it opens up the choices to you for the evening venues.
CommentAuthorluvlifejen (mrs berr
yer i got a list of places when i gave notice and a 10% off card for loads of wedding places for i.e. balloons cars etc.. xx

It depends on the church and depends on the venue. Some venues charge you extra for the room hire then you have to pay extra for the registry fees but then churches charge different rates from the set legal fees for things like bells, organ etc. Work out the costs both ways and see which works out cheaper or gives you what you want.
Also tell people when you book that its slightly over your budget and ask them if there is anything they can do to cut it down for you? Some of them will either knock some off or offer you something else instead. If they say no you can always go back and say aunt Beryl gave you some towards it etc.

We are getting married 'out of season' so we are getting a 30% discount on our wedding package. We are paying just over £3000 for the room for the wedding breakfast, 3 course meal, drinks, seat covers and much more (for 67 guests). It is an exerlent deal. We had to give a £750 deposit.

have you looked at the waterside?? they do VERY reasonable weddings, and their full menu and price list is available to download so you can chose all the options you would want and get a prettye exact price. And they have an ace lighting system that can turn the whole room pink, or look like a twinkly star filled night sky. Worth a look!
or Kincraig up near Tain. beautiful!! (I found this one after we had booked ours). Costed out at £3800 for dinner for 50 and reception for 100!!

Totally you can, we are doing our wedding for about £4000, though we aren't having a sit down meal, but a lovely posh buffet so it is more casual and fun. It just takes a little looking around but you can work with that easy. :)
