Or As soon as you mention the word Wedding everyone/where seems to slap on a extra couple of hundred pound!! I swear half the places we orginally looked at for our engagement party (had same amount of guests as coming to wedding & disco) was half the price then what theyre quoting for wedding prices. ARGGGG Everythings so pricey!

thats so so so true.................................. with our hairdresser.... we got quoted £240 for a trial for me n mum n mil2b and hair on the day but once we did it all seperate and told them they were hair trials n that for a party they quoted £160 for the lot!
i came clean n argued it out with em that there wedding packages were a con n didnt contain anything more than a normal package did n hey presto got it for £160 plus got a free gift voucher for a massage as a way of apology hehe ..... but tis true u say wedding they say pounds......WEDDING/ POUNDS WEDDING/POUNDS lol. x x x

Well i just tried to find out how much it would be for the wedding cars. I rang saying they are for the wedding and they are £800 for a 30 min drive to the ceremony and thats it as everything is in the same place. Martyn rang and said it was for a birthday and it was £400 how can they charge double for the same thing. Doesnt make any since to me

Thats stupid! Ive just emailed a limo company for quotes for a wedding and they quoted £250-£325 yet for a friends birthday was only £150!! x

what i think makes it worse is that with some companies they put in their contracts that if you book it as a party buts its a wedding it invalidates the contract when they do nothing different!

I soooo know what you mean. I'm going through the same thing at the moment whilst trying to get quotes for cakes. It's my birthday three days after the wedding so am very tempted to tell the baker the cake is for that rather than a wedding! xx

just be vcareful if booking things as a party in case it invalidates anything, but you could use the normal quotes they use to help get your price down xx

Becki - with the limo hire don't forget that if you're having a church ceremony then the hire will be for more than an hour, which is what the usual amount of time hired for a birthday etc is, so it will cost more - I know that when we're looking at cars we have to consider that it will be needed from 1.15pm until 3.15pm - and that's the shortest time possible for our ceremony!

I think you just need to investigate what the "normal rate" is, and then get haggling, like has already been said they dont do anything different so you shouldnt be charged any more.... go haggle with them, they can only say no, and then you can tell them your gonna go look elsewhere. They are businesses and only trying to make money, some would rather have your money at basic rate than none at all.
